Self Destructed. 0

So, there i was reading this story and it was average to above average, catching up on one of the titles that I decided to keep reading and had not even considered dropping it then I got to this issue and it's garbage. There is a shock beginning for no good reason. Most of the issue is fighting and it's meant to have Cole be all conflicted, but the whole thing doesn't jive with what his character has been doing, saying, and thinking up to this point and it is only meant to establish Cole as anot...

Art - The lines are inconsistent falling between good and that really doesn't work. The colors are in general well done but there are a lot of blacks so it's hard to really judge.Story - The story is...Barbara has survivors guilt and uses Mirror's to lure him him somewhere she could use to make him slower. Barbara is inconsistent about her gun phobia and survivors guilt... also what survivor's guilt? She's not surviving the wheel chair, nor being shot. She survived Joker. The Room mate scenes ar...

Grifter #4 0

Art - The line art is clean enough, but his proportions are all wrong. This is something that a life art class could probably fix fairly quickly. I wonder if he went to college or some other route. I'd say some other route because you probably wouldn't get these out of whack proportions otherwise. The colorist or inker is inconsistent, messing up the over all style of the colors. The fact that the colorist doesn't work with this belies the stubbornness and/or the skill of the colorist.Story - Th...

Mr. T #4 0

Art - The lines are more consistent this time around but continuously slip between passable to atrocious. The colors are good... Every time I see Hi-Fi's name by all these books I pity him more and more having to work with all the bad artists.Story - Mr. T gets stupidly capture and then techno babbles his way into a prison break. Eric Wallace is too scientifically illiterate to write a good sci-fi book and seems to have a lack of creativity or fore sight to write an intellectual character. This ...

Batman and Robin #4 0

Art - The art is average, but all the areas that should be higher detailed are lower and all the areas that should be lower are over detailed. The colors are on the high end of average.Story - The story continues from last chapter... they escape. They fight each other and then a non-shocking ending. There are moment in the book that I think ae excellent, but they are messed up due to something like Damian goes to hid grandparents' graves and you get a nice scene messed up by him killing the fire...

Batwoman #4 0

Art - Great Art...Story - I'm literally trying to figure out what to say about this... I pretty much couldn't focus on the rest of the issue, what little else there is, because I am so mad that what this idiot writer did. He pretty much wrote a snuff comic designed to make what should be one of the most experienced of the Bat-family look like a complete weakling physically to an un-named slasher character that wouldn't pose any threat to ANY of the bat-family and then having her mentally broken ...

Suicide Squad #4 0

Art - Average inconsistent art with a couple bad panels that look wonky. The colors are fairly well done though which makes any errors in the line art inconsequential.Story - The story is basically break in to place, get caught, deploy plan B, return and get thrown into new situation... The biggest problems with this story is that I don't care about most of the characters but also we aren't getting any answers as to what is happening in the background of why Waller is sending them here and there...

Resurrection Man #4 0

Art - The art is solidly above average even though it is minorly inconsistent.Story - It's a battle issue. The fight from the previous issue continues and intensifies a bit more...and then ends with a shocking twist.Characterization - Amazingly with the characters all come through crisp and clear. They all feel like they have more to them than what they are presented as right now and at the end we are shown that that is true. The biggest out of established character moment was at the very end bu...

Demon Knights #4 0

Art - The be on the lower side of average, though i blame that more on the inker than the penciler. The colors however are well done, among the best this week. The panels are well laid out as are the text balloons.Story - The biggest complaint about this issue is that it is excessively wordy, but it might have been necessary. Other than that all I have to say is that I like how the story weaves the origin into what's happening... Other than that I must really question the time line now as it sai...

Frankenstein #4 0

Art - The line art is beyond abysmal at points. It's improved in some areas, but there are others where the art is s bad that if I didn't know any better I'd say a child drew it and not a professional. The colors are excellent though and help make the over all art not as bad as it could be with some of the other colorists DC has.Story - They find out the planet is sentient which doesn't matter, kill the two titans easily, and then have to rush home. The end. The dialog is crap. The story is badl...

Deathstroke #4 0

Art - This book has good art...Story - ... however this book has bad story. 5 pages that doesn't progress the story and is really confusing because it's nowhere close to how the previous issue ended nor does it play into the overall issue. And then we get the rest of the comic to get us to where we should easily be at in the first 5 pages. While doing that the series destroys more of the pre-52 canon and tells us something about the Blackhawks that if you've followed the previous issues of the b...

Legion Lost #4 0

Art - The art in this books is excellentStory - The story continues from last week into this week, but barely moves forward. All we get is continue point, chase, find, new challenger... So as far as the arc is concerned barely anything happens, but at the same time there is character growth and character definition in this book that is essential to the entire series...Characterization - The main character to get developed in this issue is Dawnstar. She pretty much monologues the entire issue, ta...

Superboy #4 0

Art - The lines are average and the colors follow the lines, but are clearly above average. A few of the panels are off due to the lines, like when Superboy and Caitline are looking at each other Caitline has a smile on her face even though she shouldn't.Story - As pointed out in the story this is Superboy's Rum Springa where in he is freed to do whatever he wants, meets some villains, and decides to be Amish...err part of NOWHERE. It feels a little rushed in my opinion, but most people likely n...

GL #4 0

Art - Great lines and coloring. Not much more to say on that front...I thought it was going to bad because of the Hal's face, but once past that it was great.Story - Finally an issue that isn't stretched or rushed. This is a really great issue where the story is evenly paced and really explores the characters of Hal, Carol, and especially Sinestro. This issue should have been a low point in the story what with the story only being they got captured and now they need to figure out a way out, but ...

Waste of time... 0

Art - The line art for this is probably some of the best is DCnU in general, however the colors are a bit too cell shaded in my opinion. The colors go well with the lines though so it's ok that they aren't the best in terms of technicality. The panel layout it also great as is the lettering. There are several times when i thought that the placements of text was just fabulous and worked really well.Story - The story isn't well thought out in my opinion and is more or less just filler when you get...

Action Comics #4 0

Art - The art is better than the previous issues which is kinda strange considering the previous issues were drawn by the same person, but the colorist while generally good the Superman shirt is white for the entire book which is kinda messed up... Where would he find a white S shirt?Story - The story is basically Brainiac has detected Clark and has employed Lex to capture Superman, but Brainiac has decided to go back on his word after using Lex as a pawn. John Henry Irons has created a steel su...

JLI #4 0

Art - Excellent all aroundStory - Fight scenes... exposition... fight scene... cliffhanger. The only problem with this story is pointed out by Godiva and Tora in the story. What he's doing makes no sense, but something they don't point out.The Guardians would stop this from happening as they know Earth is important... It also is a problem with Booster... he exists still thus Peraxxus fails.Characterization This is issue has the least amount of characterization of the series and I'm not so sure t...

Hawk and Dove #4 0

Art - It's Liefeld... The colorist seems better. You know I said that Hi-fi is probably better than it seems in the OMAC review and I was right, but it's unfortunate he's getting teamed with these bad line artists.Story - I was right thinking they weren't good enough to handle the concept right, because instead of dealing with the Lords of Chaos and Order which is where the Hawk and Dove powers come from they made up some new thing called the Circle of War. It's bad exposition and flashbacks and...

'tec #4 0

Art - The art is unsurprisingly good. It's 'Tec so that is obviously the standard usually.Story - This is a pretty solid ending to a pretty boring arc...but it's pretty hard to mess up a largely action based issue... though some have succeeded. The only really stand out WTF were you thinking out of place thing in the issue is after the action scene and before the last scene... We get Bruce and some women chilling in the mountains. That didn't need to be there... and the fact that it is there say...

Is the Title saying Winick thinks he's a bad writer? 0

Art - It's average lines, but horrible colors. The colorist bleeds all the colors and all the backgrounds and character match in their coloring making it harder to pull out crisper detail which makes the lines which are already on the low end of average even worse.Story - We get to see a piece of David's cliched past that we all already knew because we're not stupid. The story doesn't tell David's Origin as Batman so the cover is false advertisement. The placement in the overall story is bad and...

Cool Kitty points earned! 0

Art - The line work is slightly better this month and while not the best it is at least on the level of average now. The colors however are trash, relying on the line work to provide most of or all of the shades and highlight. It adds nothing to the book save for helping to be able to see the image better which would be the same for any coloring style. They could get anyone that can stay in the lines to replace the current colorist and you wouldn't notice the difference.Story - Not really any st...

Swamp Thing #4 0

Art - Not the best art in my opinion, but one of the top this week and definitely the best dynamic paneling of all the comics that use the trippy paneling.Story - The story of William continues. We get more exposition. And then a little bit of moving the search for William along. Nothing much happened this issue, but at the same time I can't help but love it when I'm curious about something in the story and the next month i get the answer. Unfortunately it also means no Captain Planet booo.Chara...

Deus ex Machina is how I write 0

Art - The art is average. Where it is bad the colors save it, but only where the line art dips below the average line... where it doesn't the color generally is below average to average. There are some panels that are really good, but they are often surrounded by bland art.Story - The team is absorbed, save for Midnighter. Apollo falls from space and is the only hope of saving the team which is the only hope of saving the world via the dude that can talk to cities, via the city having a alchemy t...

Braaaaaaains 0

Art - The lines, colors, and panels are great. Probably some of the better art you'll see this week. All those other artists out there should look at this book and work on getting to this level or better ^.^Story - The biggest problem with this book is that it isn't moving forward quick enough. Every single one of us are several issues ahead of this series at this point and it's just being drawn out so much that with every passing issue it gets more and more boring. So what happened this issue? ...

One Moron's Atrocious Creation #4 0

Art - The lines in this book are inconsistent and ugly. The colors are decent enough... probably better than average, but the line art is so bad that even if it were above average the lines detract so much they look bland. And the panel layout... they are just barely passable.Story - This issue is something different than the last 3 issues. Kevin gets home via teleportation...why he was walking around the country before hand who know... and then he goes to work and yelled at and then he goes hom...

False impressions indeed 0

Art - The Lines are average with some a little better than and other a little worse than. The Colors work with the lines and are about average, but a little better than. The real star artistically for this book is actually the dynamic panel lay out which is dynamic and uses it to convey some of the motion of the action and such, but doesn't go overboard.Story - There were several points in this issue where I'm just like, "what?" First and most important is that the beginning starts off with a fi...

A time for reflection. 0

Art - The lines and colors are fabulously done, fitting the story perfectly. The artists also uses a different border around panels where "dark" things happen which is really interesting.Story - While the story isn't quite as good as the two previous issues it is still interesting and good in its own right. We get to see that Penguin isn't a bad guy, but rather an ideal for those that don't cross him. He chooses the pleasure of others over himself and offers the world to those who have served hi...

MoW #4 0

Art - The art in this issue is excellent. The lines are all well above the standard fair you get in most titles and allows me to distinguish characters without problem. Unlike the previous issue where none of the characters were defined. The colors are all well done and plays well the lines. The only point that really draws my eye as sorta bad is a panel where the shadow doesn't look quite right on the 4th page, but nothing major. The panel layout is also well done and dynamic, fitting the story...

Ollie bores me 0

Art - The line art is average. Average meaning that there is nothing great or extremely bad about it, but at the same time there is plenty that the artist can work on to make it better. Mostly the anatomy being slightly off or the perspectives being off just a smidge. The colors are terrible. They are light handed, but that is not a bad thing, because the highlights and shades aren't well placed and are beyond amateurish.Story - The front end of the book felt like I was slogging through a swamp....

Fillertopia 0

Art - The art is consistent with the previous issues. The line art is well done and looks nice, but the coloring is far to light-handed as if the colorist is afraid of doing anything more than flats even though it is clear from what he has done that he doesn't need to be.Story - While this month isn't a repeat of the last 2 issues it also isn't very good. 6 pages are spent on Huntress talking to herself, nothing interesting happening, Huntress sneaking in, and then listening to a conversation th...

The most unfocused origin story ever. 0

Art - The lines of this book are a slight bit below average, but ironically better than the cover art. The big let down on the art is the colors though. The colorist seems to have the simplest view of shades and high lights and as such simply this is a rudimentary execution of colors that are just there rather than working with the line art to make it decent or improving it far beyond what the line art is on it's own.Story - Boring, bland, monotonous... how many ways can I say the same thing? Ba...

Unimpressive. 0

Art - The lines are absolute garbage and the colors don't help at all, but you really can't lay any of the blame on how bad this book looks on the colors even though they are mediocre because the lines are so bad that even if the colorists was the best in the world it would still look ugly.Story - Nothing happens for 14 pages, followed by 3 pages of a wall of text, followed by an event that might be exciting if I knew how it in any way related to anything that is going on. We're dropped into the...

Back to bad writing and story telling 0

Art - The lines and colors all look crude and rushed. As if the artists just took a little bit more time it would reach average or even better than average, but instead of taking the time they used the preliminary sketches and colors.Story - You wouldn't think tat a book that has someone over seeing it so heavily could mess up so badly, but with every turn they seem to be messing up on this book. I'm guessing that this issue takes place shortly after the last issues which I presumed happened bef...

A brief lull 0

Art - The art of this book varies between over-detailed and over simplified while still over detailed and while ugly stylistically it is fairly average. There is a few problems with it like when the girl gets shot it looks like she gets shot in the head rather than in the back or something. The second story of El Diablo has consistent above average art in all aspects though.Story - This is an anti-climatic necessary link issue that isn't all that great, but without it you'd lose the story. Last time on... 0

Art - The art of Superman is mostly well done, save for the fact that almost all the characters have 1 of 2 faces. The slackjawed, open mouth look, or the screaming at something mouth.Beyond that there are some questionable choices with coloring and detailing such as the scene at the grave yard where you can clearly see this half circle of desaturation and blur which just doesn't look good and isn't in any way good art.Story - We get a recap of Superman and Action comics, possibly some spoilers,...

Art - The line art is fairly above average, but the colors are pretty poor, amateurish, beginner level.Story - It's revealed the person Deathstroke killed was a shadow clone... even though shade didn't need to do that he did it anyways. realizing someone is out to kill him he decides to take off and figure out who's targeting him so he says buy to his girlfriend and then a friend, but his friend just happens to know something and sends him to another character to find out what he knows which is ...

Only good if you're mind Numbed 0

Art - An atrocious art style that has no line control an is simply blotchy because these "horror" books can get away with it. The color is just as bad or worse with everything blurring together via using the same colors for everything or blurring colors outside of the lines. And this likewise affects the shades/highlights in that they are almost non-existent or mix into the bad line work and bad coloring that you can't tell they're there.Story - The story is pretty much a flashback, introducing ...

Bad Art good writing. 0

Art - The line art for the most part is terrible, but there are some glimmers of good lines in here, just not much. The colors are fairly bad as well with every panel seemingly having a filter over it that causes everything to be tinted the same color making nothing in the scene stand out.Story - Dude from last issue is transferred to another place in the base. Something goes wrong. He escapes and is about to blow the base while at the same time members of the blackhawks are asked to join Cobra....

Predictable 0

Art - While all the art is good, both line art and coloring, the art style is inconsistent shifting between styles for different scenes. It gives the impression that all the pages aren't from the same book.Story - The story moves along at a decent pace, but I find the whole thing rather boring and bland. Mob Rule's origin is Captain America's. The clones are actual clones that come from body parts that get chopped off him. It's a basic thing that might be a concern with genetic manipulation. Bas...

One long fight scene 0

Art - Lines are inconsistent. Ranges from pretty bad to pretty good and it changes from panel to panel. However the colors tend to even it out and make it average.Story - This is focuses more on telling the readers what is "really" going on, but they do so more or less during a long fight scene. There is nothing good about it, but I do question the reveal that Stein was terrorist because in the same issue we are informed that Firestorms were supposed to be given to nuclear capable nations which ...
