I decided to try something new. I'm going to list the comic books I'm interested in for that week (and most likely going to review), and give a quick summary why I'm or you should check this issue out. Honorable mentions are a list of titles I will be also checking out, but not going to review (possibly)
DC Comics:
Blackhawks #1
Why: Well, I'm actually curious about the Blackhawks opperating in the modern day world. Blackhawks were originally a squadron that fought in World War II. I'm a Lady Blackhawk fan thanks to Birds of Prey, and I'm wondering how she will be featured in this version of Blackhawks. This series could fail, because it does seems like a G.I Joe knockoff somewhat.
Justice League Dark #1
Why: Since Zatanna couldn't get an ongoing series in the 52 lineup, THIS is the closest thing to it. However, that's not the only reason why I'm picking this up. This series has some serious potential due to it focusing on magic, the occult, or the supernatural. Besides Zee, there's a great cast of characters such as, Deadman, Shade, Madame Xanadu, Enchantress and even John Constantine. I know Comic Vine member Silkcuts is a huge fan of John Constantine, and I know only a little bit about him compared to Zee, Deadman, and Enchantress, and this book could really get me know and like the other characters I'm not familiar with.
Teen Titans #1
Why: I love Teen Titans. Teen Titans was one of those books where you could jump in at anytime. Now in the new DC universe, I don't know what to expect from this series. I have plenty of questions about some of the original Teen Titans, and I hope somehow that will be addressed in this series. Red Robin was one of those series that I (AND MANY OTHERS) wished would be in the 52 lineup, but this is the closest fans are going to get. I'm still not feeling Drake's new costume, but as long as his personality is in check, I can get pass that.
Marvel Comics:
Amazing Spider-Man# 670
Why: Spider-Island has been fantastic so far in my book. After the reveal in the previous issue, things are heating up. And the Solicit states that someone that we know might die....
Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #2
Why: Because its still the beginning for Miles Morales. There's still so much we don't know about him personality wise. What will make him be a hero? What challenges will be put in front of him? These are some of the questions that will be answered in the next few issues. If you're a Ultimate Universe fan, this series should be on your list.
Ultimate Comics: Ultimates #2
Why: The Ultimate Universe is quite different from when it first started. In the first issue, Hickman showed us that the world was on the blink of WWIII or destruction, and while everyone on the Ultimates are trying to do their part, Captain America is missing! Almost anything can happen in that series.
Venom #7
Why: Venom vs Anti-Venom. What else? But seriously, Venom is doing a good job being part of Spider-Island.
Honorable mentions:
All-Star Western #1
The Flash #1
Superman #1
Kickass #4
FF #9
FF 50 Fantastic Years #1
