"Immortality comes at a price. A price I'm willing to pay."
Years of careful study and research that no being with mystic knowledge inferior to her own would have been able to attain had led her to the first step in her divination. A single temple, who's creation dated back to the origins of magic itself, sat secluded in an unexplored section of a Tibetan mountain range. Even if a mortal was foolish enough to journey through the savage winds and relentless snow that had assailed the temple for millenniums, its powerful mystic wards would repel even an arcane practitioner of basic knowledge. It had taken an extensive amount of time reading into the most obscure of journals and scrolls to unveil the history of 上升 (Ascension).
In the earliest years of magic, a small cult of mystics believed all divine energy, regardless of what higher power one believed in, was channeled on the same plane of energy. This plane of power was accessible only to those divine beings, who's control over the arcane arts was far beyond the control of mortal beings. However this small group of sorcerers believed that this energy should be accessible by those mortals who showed the skill and ambition to transcend the mortal limitations of magic. Thus they set out to find the locations on Earth where these divine entities mystic presence had remained most potent, building shrines with ancient spells designed to channel the divine energy into the mortal plane.
The first temple built, resting in Tibet, was designed to be one's first step in obtaining immortality. Named 上升, translating to "Ascension", its mystic walls proved most difficult to penetrate. Once allowed into the sanctum, the divine energy left behind by the entity that once marked the location would slowly drain its visitor of all the mystic energy they held. However, just as slowly, their power would be replaced by an energy replicate to the gods' own. This energy held no mortal emotion, no compassion, no humanity. Only the power and knowledge needed to ascend to immortality.
Claire Swanepoel had spent the last several months hidden in an arctic hibernation inside Ascension. Upon arriving at the arcane grounds, the mystic mistress entered a deep, impenetrable meditation atop the temple's highest tower. For months wind tore at her unrestrained hair through her tower's window and made attempts to rip the thin white cloth than covered her smooth skin. Her meditation had allowed the process of draining and replenishing her mystic energy to go unnoticed; her conscious pushed back into the recesses of her mind.
After months of this detachment from awareness, perched high atop the Siberian mountains, two eyelids flew open to reveal a pair of ice blue eyes. The rest of her body remained unwavering, only her eyes moving to confirm her surrounding's had not changed since entering her coma. The eyes seemed simultaneously emptier and fuller since their closing months ago: full of knowledge and insight while empty of emotion or empathy. Slowly strands of her long blonde hair began to rise above her, along with the dirt and rocks on the floor of the decaying temple, as if gravity itself had been turned off. The crumbling walls around her began to disintegrate, exposing the Enchantress to the full force of the howling winds. Floating above the temple and mountain's themselves her eyes began glowing an ominous white as the chaotic thrashing of winds and destruction of the temple continued on.
Suddenly, as if turned off by a switch, the air ceased movement while the sanctum's foundation no longer received a psychic demolishing, leaving the mountain top with an uneasy stillness. Her hair cascading back around her shoulders the sorceress eyes returned to their icy hue. She was changed. She could feel the power running through her veins, the knowledge of the divine coursing through her conscience. Her first step on the path to immortality had been completed.
Soft moonlight shone through the single window on the top floor of the Swanepoel's London mansion. Hardly anyone was ever present in the lavished home, business always causing the family to jet off to various locations around the world. It was not their first London home, the one she was raised in, but it had become the closest thing to home she knew since the old one was abandoned. She walked up the spiral staircase and through the trapdoor that lead into the spacious room, closing it silently behind her. She paced passed the tech base to her right and the sparring center or her left, straight to the final third of her, Madison, and Jasper's favorite base of operations. This section of the room had an ancient aura to it, and furniture to match. The arcane decorating flowed with the feel of mystic power embedded in the room. The long window that ran along the loft's back wall allowed moonlight to stream down softly on the Enchantress's golden blonde hair and cast a fleeting shine on her ice blue eyes. She moved with a casually confidence, as if the danger of what she was about to do was nonexistent. With merely a thought a sphere-shaped object wrapped in brown cloth was lifted of a stand on a bookshelf and landed delicately in her grasp. Pushing an open palm towards the ground amaranth-colored smoke swirled up from the ground, surrounding the green clad sorceress before disappearing along with her.
In a flash of energy, the same color as before, Claire reappeared, however she was no longer in London. She was in a massive cave, the exit right behind her. In front, was a thin path of earth leading a quarter mile forward. And all around her was fire. Raging fire that gave the whole cavern a red glare and nearly tangible evil. Below the path and within the fires rest hundreds of demons, all different in appearance. Some resembled beasts such as wolfs and boars, while others held more reptilian similarities. But the common factor throughout all the demons were vibrant red eyes, set on Claire with malicious loathing. Growls and hissing shot towards her as she made her way down the path, some even tried to throw clumps of dirt up towards her. She heard their hisses, warnings of her not belonging in their dimension or threats of death. Despite the violent screeches the mystic mistress walked with an unconcerned poise, her eyes set frigidly on the demon at the end of the path. As she drew nearer the path behind her crumbled, until she was left hovering over the flames on an earth platform mere meters from the giant. The dancing flames and towering cavern walls cast dark shadows against the gargantuan demon, making his full appearance hidden. Through the darkness she could make our his massive figure, sitting on a makeshift throne of rock. Hands protruded from his dark shroud, red humanoid hands with fingernails growing into sharp claws. Glowing behind the blackness were four vibrant red eyes, one pair on top of the other, shaped like diamonds placed on their sides. His deep and ominous voice rang powerfully throughout the cavern.
"So glad you could see my home, Enchantress. You brought the Sphere, as I was assured, correct?" It was more of a threat than a question, a promise that if anything went differently than planned she would be obliterated where she stood. Her face held no expression, her body language held no tones of distress. "Of course, Ragnarok," she extended her hand, the cloth covering the mysterious sphere falling to the ground to reveal a faintly glowing red orb, "the Sphere of Hermes, as promised. Unlimited access to Olympus, where you may do as you please. The Greeks are of no concern to me." As he began to lift his giant hand towards her she pulled her hand back. "What I was promised first." She held her voice steady and unafraid of the infamous demon. His hand hovered motionless for a moment, undoubtedly debating whether or not he should obey her or kill her. However she knew he would not risk losing his opportunity to gain possession of the Sphere. A sinister chuckle escaped the darkness as tall flames erupted around her circular platform. "I give you credit, Enchantress. Few would feel confident they could control the power I possess. What makes you so sure you can?" He taunted. Without flinching at the flames searing heat her voice remained steady. "I didn't come here to be questioned, Ragnarok. Just give me what I came for and you will have your Sphere." His red fingers tapped contemplatively on his arm rest before he finally spoke again. "So be it."
The flames rushed towards her, swallowing her in their unbearable heat. She cried out in pain and psychically tried every spell she knew of to extinguish the pain, but the vicious flames raged on. They began to swallow her flesh and muscle, slowing turning her into nothing but a skeleton. Just as the flames reached the tip of her hair, the last living piece of her, they vanished along with the pain. Looking down she found her skin and clothes as if the fire had never even existed. Looking back to Ragnarok her eyes were full of their own fire, but he merely chuckled once more. "I'm sorry my dear Enchantress, I forgot to warn you. The process can be a bit painful." He waved an indifferent hand. "However it is complete, and you possess my power to drain the power of others and transfer it into power for yourself, and you need not worry about any connection to me." More of his monstrous face, several tentacles and sharp fangs, became visible as he leaned closer to her. "But I do warn you. Power siphoning is an extremely dark magic, and a human soul such as yourself should not risk pushing it too far. Not that your death would be of any concern to me. Now, the Sphere, as promised." While he had spoken Claire had regained her cool composure, the Sphere still gripped tightly in her hand. Holding it forward its feeble red light grew stronger and transitioned into a luminous white. Ragnarok red skin became to steam as the white light continued to become brighter. "What -- is -- that?" He managed to choke painfully, attempting to stand from his seat in an attack. Even the demons in the pit felt the light as their waving cries rang out. As if Ragnarok's very existence held the dimension together, the entire cavern began to crumble, dirt and rocks the size of small pebbles to boulders began falling from the shaking cave.
With a smirk, Enchantress held the Sphere out farther still. "I'm sorry as well, Ragnarok," she said with mock guilt, "I forgot something too. When created, the goddess of magic Circe placed a very powerful spell on the Sphere. Once activated, it would diminish the life of the gods' threats such as titans, monsters, and oh -- demons." The whole cave was going to fall in in a matter of seconds. "But I'm sure you won't mind me using this opportunity, you being so powerless, to eliminate any chance of you escaping from this miserable dimension. For all eternity." Turning to leave she could hear the giant demon attempting to chase after her. So weak now he could only manage to crawl, one massive hand extended towards her in a final attempt to stop her as his throne room collapsed. "We -- had -- a -- deal--," His words were broken in weakness and pain, "you -- promised."
The same amaranth smoke began to swirl around her once more, from her waist down had already disappeared before she looked over her shoulder with an apathetic glare. "I lied."
Warm summer breezes riffled through the grass on the rolling hills of Phoenix Academy. She had been spending a lot of time on the grounds lately, unbeknownst to her Court of Owls colleagues. The tranquility of the school relaxed her and provided a calm hiatus from the relentlessness of politics and business. She gazed somberly over the solid blue surface of the lake, dressed loosely in a black Gucci kimono sleeve dress and Louis Vuitton heels, the light winds ruffled her dress as they passed by. It was an odd location to meet, so far off from the actually castle, but she appreciated the seclusiveness. Holding her clutch with both hands at her waist she stood patiently awaiting her affiliate's arrival. "Phoenix?" Came a rough voice behind her. Due to her prosperity during her years attending the academy, "Phoenix" had become a common nickname that had stayed with her and transformed into an alias on the grounds as she grew into adulthood.
"Yes Arthur." Claire said, turning to face him with a halfhearted smile.
"They've all accepted. Each of your requests for the Arcane Hand are willing to join you. Where would you like to move from here?" He asked. She looked passed him for a few moments, gathering her thoughts with distant blue eyes.
"Find Jasper. He knows the next step." She said looking back into his eyes. She could trust Jasper, he knew her just as well as she did, or better. With an awkward bow the man turned to head back to the castle.
"Yes, Ms. Swanepoel."
She would have to return to New France soon, she had other responsibilities to tend to. However her newly gathered cult was a growing priority, one she would have to nurture and cultivate closely and carefully. And with the right choice of movements, the Arcane Hand's name would rise to the infamy she intended. As she made her way back to the castle where a limo awaited her, she glanced towards the various students and teachers moving about the academy. All puppets in a performance she directed.
This blog is just to give a comprehensive look at what Duchess can do with her telepathic powers. Although she is not a born telepath, she can access omega level telepathic powers through her sorcery. Her fondness for telepathy compelled her to refine her skills to become a highly experienced and potent telepath. The information was taken from the Marvel Comics Database.
Telepathy is the ability to transfer information from one mind to another and to read the mind and thoughts to humans and animals without the aid of physical communication (noise or movement).
Telepathy can be utilized in a number of way, including, but certainly not limited to, the following:
Cloak Mind: The ability to rearrange the mental engrams of someones so their thought patterns cannot be detected by psychic-type devises or by other telepaths.
Psionic Shield: The ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of oneself and other minds.
Psychic Shadow: The ability to mask oneself, and other peoples' presence, from those within a certain area. A telepath can also disguise themself, making their appearance similar to that of a shadow.
Telepathic Cloak: The ability to telepathically mask one's presence and the use of his/her abilities from being detected by other psychic entities. These defenses can be extended to others around them as well. Cloaking via telepathy is not perfect and powerful telepathic mutants may notice and 'see' through this ability.
Telepathic Illusions: The ability to create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.
Telepathic Camouflage: The ability to alter the apparent physical appearance of oneself and others by altering the perceptions of those around them. This can go so far as to make other people believe that the camouflaged people are not there (invisible). The only limit to this ability, if one exists, is only imposed by the number of people a telepath is trying to fool, not the number of people a telepath is actually camouflaging.
Telepathic Manipulation: The ability to manipulate other people's minds easily, achieving a variety of effects.
Absorb Information: The ability to quickly process and store information, by mental transference.
Astral Projection:The ability to project one's astral form from their body onto astral planes or the physical planes. In the physical plane one can travel in astral form over vast distances.
Dark Psyche: The ability to release the dark side of a person's personality, either making them seem tougher or evil in anyway.
Dilate Power: The ability to place “psychic inhibitors” in the minds of adversaries to prevent them from using their powers.
Download Information: The ability to place large amounts of information in another's mind.
Heal Trauma: The ability to erase a person’s memories and to heal mental trauma through “psychic surgery”, the power to stimulate or deaden the pain and pleasure centers in a person's brain.
Induce Pain: The ability to induce mental pain.
Intuitive Multilingual: The ability to intuitively translating new languages.
Mass Manipulation: The ability to subtly use deep influence upon multiple people, allowing a telepath to manipulate their perceptions, better judgment, wills and common sense.
Mental Amnesia: The ability to erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia.
Mental Detection: The ability to sense the presence of another superhuman within a small but as yet undefined radius of oneself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.
Mental Paralysis: The ability to induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.
Mental Sedating: The ability to telepathically "sedate" one's victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as a telepath continues to "sedate" them.
Mind Alteration: The ability to alter the minds of others by sheer force of will, permanently changing their personality either partially or entirely.
Mind Control: The ability to control the thoughts and actions of others.
Mind Link: The ability to develop a mental link with any person.
Mind Transferal: The ability to transfer both the mind and powers of the user into other host bodies should their own physical body somehow be killed.
Neural Jumpstart: The ability to increase the speed of neural signals in the brain, allowing him to increase another's powers to incredible levels, but the effect is only temporary.
Possession: The ability to possess the mind of another, and use that being's body, and any powers it may possess, as one's own.
Psionic Blasts: The ability to project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness and can even kill an adversary.
Psionic Siphoning: The ability to siphon the psychic energies from other psionic mutants. The stolen psychic energy can be used to either boost one's own powers or channel the energy into someone else to temporarily increase their psionic abilities.
Telepathic Tracking: Enhanced psionic senses enable a telepath to detect and track other sentient beings by their unique psionic emanations (thought patterns contained in the psionic portion of the spectrum), especially if they pose a threat to one's well-being in their immediate vicinity.
This is a further in-depth explanation of the Phoenix Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry in which Duchess graduated. Please note that it is largely based on J.K. Rowling's Hogwarts and this is a loosely edited version of information on the Harry Potter Wiki.
Phoenix Academy is located in Phoenix Castle, a large castle somewhere in Rome. The castle has extensive grounds with sloping lawns, flowerbeds and vegetable patches, a loch (called The Black Lake), a large dense forest (called the Forbidden Forrest), several greenhouses and other outbuildings, and a full-size Quidditch pitch. There is also an owlery, which houses all the owls owned by the school and those owned by students.
The school has numerous charms and spells on and around it that make it impossible for a "human" (i.e., a non-magical person) to locate it. Such people cannot see the school; rather, they see only ruins and several warnings of danger. Witches and wizards cannot Apparate or Disapparate in Phoenix grounds, except when the Headmaster lifts the enchantment, whether only in certain areas or for the entire campus, so as to make the school less vulnerable when it serves the headmaster to allow Apparition. Electricity and electronic devices are not commonly found at Phoenix. It has been indicated that due to the high levels of magic, substitutes for magic used by humans, such as computers, radar and electricity "go haywire" around Phoenix. Radios however, make an exception. The radios are not powered by electricity and are powered by magic.
Phoenix was founded around 990 A.D. by two wizards and two witches: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. They each represented an aspect of wizarding that they wanted to bring out in new students. However, shortly after founding the school, Slytherin had a falling out with the other founders about blood purity. Slytherin wanted to admit only pure-blood students, but the other three founders disagreed. Slytherin left the school, but not before secretly building the Chamber of Secrets. When his own true heir, the Heir of Slytherin, returned to the school, he or she would be able to open the Chamber, unleash a horrible Basilisk, and purge the school of all human-born students.
About three hundred years after the school was founded, the Triwizard Tournament began between the three most prestigious magical schools in Europe: Phoenix, the Beauxbatons School of Magic, and the Durmstrang Institute. This tournament was considered the best way for wizards of different nationalities to meet and socialize. The tournament continued for six centuries, until the death toll became too high, and the tournament was discontinued.
Term begins on September 1st. Students usually reach Phoenix via the Phoenix Express, which leaves from Platform 9 3/4 of London's King's Cross Station at 11 a.m. sharp. There seemed to be other ways of entering the school, such as via brooms or Floo powder, or simply Apparating to a nearby location such as Fenice. Missing the Phoenix Express for any reason is a very serious problem but will not cost the student points, because the term has not officially started.
The Phoenix Express brings the students to Fenice Station, where the first years traditionally cross the Black Lake in boats with the Gamekeeper, and go under an opening in the rocks upon which Hogwarts is built, through a curtain of ivy, and finally into an underground harbour. Older students travel on the road in carriages pulled by Thestrals to the castle (the Thestrals are generally invisible to students except those who have witnessed death). The Welcoming Feast takes place in the Great Hall. This feast includes the Sorting ceremony, followed by a few words from the current Headmaster, the banquet starts after this, including large quantities of food and drink. The feast is closed with a few more words from the Headmaster, but it also included the usual "start-of-term notices".
After dinner, students are led to their House Common room by a Prefect. This is a special time for new students to get comfortable with their surroundings, because the next day classes begin, September 2nd. The class schedules are handed out during breakfast by the Heads of House. After two weeks of classes, the Quidditchteam trials and Flying lessons for the first years usually occur.
Phoenix's school year is structured in a similar way to other non-magical schools and colleges in the UK, with a three-term year punctuated by holidays at Christmas and Easter and bounded by the long summer holiday of nine weeks. Students have the option of staying at Phoenix for the winter and spring holidays. Those who choose to stay at the castle do not have lessons and attend a feast on Christmas Day. Students also do not have classes the week of Easter, but this is much less enjoyable due to the large amount of work that the teachers assign students at this time in preparation for final exams.
Other than the breaks and weekends, students do not receive holidays. However, students third year and above may visit Fenice, the local village, occasionally. There are normally four feasts per year: the start-of-term feast at the beginning of the school year, end-of-term feast at the end of the school year, and feasts at Halloween and Christmas. Feasts are also called to mark special occasions, as in Goblet of Fire, when there was a feast to celebrate the beginning of the Triwizard Tournament.
Classes will proceed normally and the next notable event occurs on the evening of 31 October: the Halloween feast. Decorations include giant pumpkins and flocks of hundreds of bats flying across the halls. The served foods include pumpkin treats, tarts, cakes and all sorts of magical sweets. The Quidditch season starts usually with the first Quidditch match in the first weeks of November. In the second week of December, the Deputy Head takes names of those who are staying at Phoenix over the Christmas holidays. The first term usually ends about a week before Christmas and most of the students and some of the teachers go home by the school train.
In Triwizard Tournament years, the Yule Ball occurs on the evening of Christmas Eve, ending at midnight. On 25 December, a Christmas feast is held in the Great Hall. Shortly after January 1st, the Phoenix Express returns to Fenice; the second term begins. The exact dates of the beginning of the Easter holidays vary every year. During these holidays, the students may go home. The final exams are held the first week of June and the results come out on the second week. In the evening before the Phoenix Express goes back to London, the End-of-Term Feast is held. The Phoenix Express returns to London during the third week of June. All staff and students leave Phoenix during the summer except for the caretaker and gamekeeper.
Phoenix has in its faculty an abundance of wise and talented professors. Each specialises in a specific subject. Other staff positions include that of school nurse, caretaker, librarian, and Keeper of the Keys and Grounds of Hogwarts.. There are a variety of classes taught at Phoenix Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry. These include both the core curriculum and the electives, available from third year forward. Some classes may be dropped in sixth year.
Numerous lessons are described, instructing the students in various branches of magic. Transfiguration, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Potions, Astronomy, History of Magic, and Herbology are compulsory subjects for the first five years. At the end of their second year, students are required to add at least two optional subjects to their syllabus for the start of the third year. The five choices are Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Divination, Care of Magical Creatures, and Human Studies.
Transfiguration: Transfiguration is the art of changing the form or apearance of an object, and hence this is what this class teaches. Transfiguration is a theory-based subject, including topics such as "Switching Spells" (altering only a part of some object, such as giving a human rabbit's ears); Vanishing Spells (causing an object to completely disappear); and Conjuring Spells (creating objects out of thin air). It is possible to change inanimate objects into animate ones and vice versa.
Defense Against the Dark Arts: Defense Against the Dark Arts, commonly shortened to D.A.D.A., is the class that teaches students defensive techniques to defend against the Dark Arts, and to be protected from Dark creatures.
Charms: Charms the type of spell concerned with giving an object new and unexpected properties, and hence this class mainly consists on learning those sorts of spells. Charms classes are described as notoriously noisy and chaotic, as the lessons are largely practical. Many of the exposition sequences in the books are set in Charms classes, which are on the second floor of Phoenix.
Potions: Potions is described as the art of creating mixtures with magical effects. It requires the correct mixing and stirring of ingredients at the right times and temperatures.
Astronomy: Astronomy is the only field of study at Phoenix that has a direct equivalent in the human world. Astronomy classes take place in the Astronomy Tower, the tallest tower in Phoenix. Lessons involve observations of the night skies with telescopes. Known student homework activities include learning the names of stars, constellations and planets, and their location, movements, and environments.
Art: Art is a class where students paint, draw, and otherwise depict artistic things (presumably controlling the paint and pencils with either a spell that repeats the same thing over and over or a spell that stands upright over the paper/canvas and draws in the direction that the wand moves).
Arithmancy: Arithmancy is a branch of magic concerned with the magical properties of numbers.
Study of Ancient Runes: The Study of Ancient Runes is a generally theoretical subject that studies the ancient runic scripts.
History of Magic: History of Magic is the study of magical history. Topics have included goblin rebellions, giant wars, and the origins of wizarding secrecy. This is the only class at Phoenix that is taught by a ghost.
Herbology: Herbology is the study of magical plants and how to take care of, utilize and combat them. There are at least three greenhouses holding a variety of magical plants of varying degrees of lethality.
Divination: Divination is the art of predicting the future. Various methods are described, including tea leaves, Fire-omens, Crystal balls, Palmistry, Cartomancy (including the reading of conventional playing cards and the tarot), astrology, and Dream interpretations. Divination is described as "one of the most imprecise branches of magic". Supporters of the subject claim that it is an inexact science that requires innate gifts like the "Inner Eye". Those opposed claim that the subject is irrelevant and fraudulent.
Care of Magical Creatures: Care of Magical Creatures is the class which instructs students on how to care for magical beasts.
Human Studies: Human Studies is a class which involves the study of the human (non-magical) culture "from a wizarding point of view." It also includes human art and human music. The only need for witches and wizards to learn about human ways and means, is to ensure they can blend in with hmans while needing to do so.
Flying: Flying is the class that teaches the use of broomsticks made for the use of flying and is taught only to Phoenix first years. The subject is the only one that requires physicality.
Apparation: Apparition is the magical form of teleportation in the wizarding world. Lessons are optional to those in the sixth and seventh years. In the wizarding world, performing Apparition requires a licence and may only be legally performed by people over seventeen years of age. The described reason for the restriction is that Apparition is dangerous if done improperly: insufficient concentration may lead to body parts being left behind in an unfortunate side-effect known as splinching. Although magical enchantments on Phoenix castle and grounds prevent Apparition and Disapparition inside the castle, these protections are temporarily relaxed within the Great Hall for short periods to permit students to practice Apparition.
Alchemy: Alchemy is a sort of composite subject between Transfiguration, Potions and Human Chemistry, focused roughly on the transmutation of substances into other forms.
Magical Theory: A subject taught to at least first years. It is taught in Class 67 on the fourth floor of Phoenix Castle. It covers magic from a purely theoretical view, and Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling may be a required textbook.
Ghoul Studies: Students learn about ghouls like poltergeists, vampires, veela, etc and how to defend themselves from these creatures.
The students at Phoenix Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry are required to wear a uniform. Students must wear their uniforms during all lessons, and while eating meals or studying in the Great Hall. Students are allowed to wear their own clothes after lessons in their House dormitory and during the holidays.
The Phoenix uniform consists of a black robe held in front by a metal phoenix emblem. The robes bear no marks to distinguish between the houses. Students wear their own socks and shoes.
