Favorite Vertigo Series

Vertigo is easily my favorite publisher. It's rare for me to not like anything they put out (Y: The Last Man being one of the exceptions), and so much of their stuff is simply amazing. This is a list of my favorites. I need to read more Constantine before I can properly place it on this list, but I do love me some Hellblazer.

List items

  • How could this not be number 1? I mean, my screen name is ripped straight out of it. It's well written, mysterious, and simply intriguing. I highly recommend it.

  • As always, Warren Ellis has to make a list if I'm making it. Transmetropolitan may not be for everyone, but it definitely appeals to me. Can't go wrong with a cyberpunk Hunter S. Thompson.

  • Crazy, crazy good. This book embodies everything that makes Vertigo so great as a publisher. It's bold, violent, original, and just plain entertaining. You should probably read this.

  • I didn't expect to really like this series too much, but when ever I start reading a new trade, I always end up reading the entire thing in a single sitting. It always seems to grab me and always keeps me engaged. Plus, Bigby is awesome.

  • Jeff Lemire definitely knows how to write stuff that is achingly sad. I guess everyone has to be good at something, even if it means being depressing. I love the mix of Mad Max and the lonely mid-west.

  • I'm counting it.

  • They're only 4 issues in, but so far it's been fun. I look forward to the new issue every month.

  • It's smart, fearless, and not afraid to get it's hands dirty. Probably not for everyone, but it's a good read nonetheless. It's the kind of comic that you don't see a lot, and the kind that doesn't last long....that's probably why it got canceled.
