Don't feel bad! You are not alone. The latter half of my childhood was spent growing up in a small South Eastern Colorado town and I experienced similar things, but I was fortunate that my brother and my friend were also into comics. It is difficult being a comic book reader and fan, especially when there are few people to share your love of the genre with, but keep your head up, there are more of us around than you realize. Sadly, there ARE numbnuts who give being a comic book geek a bad name but there are more who are successful, intelligent and caring people, so you are in good company. Just don't give up. I encourage you to find outlets for your love of the genre, as I have, not only by being on Comic Vine--too often--but other avenues, even if they are online. I suggest Comics2Film.com, SuperheroHype.com, and there are plenty of Groups on Myspace that are specficially geared towards comic book readers and fans. Also, I think there was a group called Kryptonite Forums, but don't know if it's still around. Do some research if you have time and you will hopefully be able to chat with like minded people. I, too, am proud to be a comic book geek and am wearing a Flash T-shirt as I write this. I also encourage you to visit my page. So many people are into comics only as an investment, or view them with snide attitudes, but sales, the movies, and other merchandise prove that comic book geeks have and will continue to make an impact, whether it's liked or not. Bwaa Haa Haaa!!!
