Somewhat Rational to the Irrational? Our Boyz Supes and Goku!

The Ongoing Debate to who would win this fight is still....Ongoing

OKAY! I need to get this out of my system because since I watched the notorious video posted on ScrewAttack, I've been irritated. I was not entirely convinced. Also, every forum I find regarding this fight seems to be completely biased towards one side or the other, and nothing seems to be solid. I just want to share my thoughts on the matter and possibly learn a thing or two about both Icons. Yes, they are BOTH Icons with a large fan base. Mad respect to both characters and their respective Universes(although I'm far more interested in their villains because Goku and Supes are pretty one dimensional and boring).

SO........Superman is an Incredibly Powerful Alien whom finds both comfort/alienation from the Planet he protects(Earth). His abilities are so Incredible that although many of his epic fights would seem lopsided in his favor, it has to be assumed that his sense of fairness is the cause of battles dragging on(as well as his death when he fought the inferior Doomsday). Superman, like Goku, lacks consistency in his ability to destroy/withstand enemies. His abilities cannot be taken at face value because he tends to inhibit himself less as a fight progresses. With the yellow sun at hand, Supes will rejuvenate/recover quickly and his vigor will be increased. In DC, our solar system is his playground.

Goku is also an Alien. His background, like Superman's, is not incredibly interesting and comes off as generic. Goku lives in a universe that is filled with heroes and villains that lack variability; they all incorporate martial arts with some kind of energy/magic manipulation and projection, and regeneration/reincarnation occurs frequently. His persistence as a Sayan Warrior transcended him from a "better-than-peak human" fighter into a God Martial Artist in his Universe. While Superman(to me) simply suggests that there is always hope out there, Goku demonstrates that anything is possible. This is the difference between both Icons; Superman gives others a reason to keep pushing themselves everyday, but Goku asks others to become more than what they are. I'm a huge Fan of DC, and the DC Universe is much more vast and powerful than the one incorporated in the Dragon Ball Saga. However, I do think that although DBZ(the prime series of the saga) lacks in comparison to DC in too many of way, Goku is the epitome of power in his universe through training and transcendence while Superman is just...really great.

Still with me? I'm babbling a little but keep reading fellas! :p

I don't like the ridiculousness of either character honestly... Superman has been written differently in multiple ways and has numerous/insane forms. Likewise, DBGT is somewhat of a letdown for the DB Saga and SSJ4 is a bit too ridiculous to comprehend and extremely inconsistent. Also, for the sake of discussion, such states like Silverage Superman and Superman Prime are absolutely pathetic to me; a hero, to me, does not incorporate unjustified omnipotence/omniscience just so fans can jizz. DC needs some Yin to the Yang, and Superman is a let down in my mind. SO!!! JUST TO CLARIFY!!! SSJ4 GOKU WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER, AND WOULD POSSESS EVEN COSMIC ABILITIES IN ADDITION TO HIS AWESOMENESS...BUT HE WOULD STILL BE EASILY DESTROYED BY AN ULTIMATE SUPERMAN.

Let's go with Superman Vs Goku, on an Open Planet with no inhabitants so that people won't be in danger. Supes will just be Supes, and Goku can only peak to the energy depleting SSJ3. Kryptonite will not ever be considered. Goku does not have an edge with the use of Ki because it is not considered magic(it's simply tangible life energy existing in all living beings). Also, Supes will have a yellow sun at hand and Goku will have a Universal Lifelink/ki/connection to everyone. At their levels of destruction, the terrain won't make much of a difference...in fact a planet would not either but both would fight on ground for the sake of it. Goku would be impressed with Superman's durability, uniqueness, and raw power/speed. Superman would be frustrated with Goku's tactical style of fighting, but intrigued with his sense of fairness.

According to what I've seen and read!!!! etc...

Consistencies:

Very:

Goku can project energy in various ways. He has abilities ranging from shapeshifting terrains to firing deadly beams and such. His field projection can also serve as protections. His martial arts/agility is executed at lightspeed and with the use of instant transmission, he is unbelievably fast. His endurance is off the charts, as seen with his ability to fight for episodes on, suggesting hours of battle. He's a sayan, and so he possesses the ability to grow stronger as a fight progresses. His ability to learn is extremely deadly, as his adaptive style of fighting poses threats against his enemies.

Superman has a variety of skills at hand. His cataclysmic strength is unmatched in any of his battles. His vision serves as a tool to identify weaknesses and such. His heat vision is extremely fast and deadly. Creativity is another big advantage for Supes, providing him with the use of cold breath, sonic waves, etc. He understands his enemies' strengths and weaknesses easily.

Both Characters can Learn quickly, exhaust their enemies, and reserve hidden power for end games.

Rare and Implied:

I feel like every hero possesses similar abilites to each other and the villains in the DB saga, with the exception of regeneration being exclusive for various enemies. Because of this, Goku has both an advantage and disadvantage. He lacks variability, but I believe that whatever feat a sayan(other than Ultimate Gohan, whom is the most powerful nonfused character in DBZ) has done can be done by Goku as well. This includes ripping space with energy projection, destroying a solar system, etc. Crazy stuff. Likewise, Superman has been known to destroy solar systems, bench press the earth's weight at ease, hold black holes, withstand cosmic explosions etc.

Both Characters have lost fights that should have been in their favor. Supes has shown indestructibility never seen in the DB series, and yet he has been brought to his knees in situations by subpar enemies in comparison to Goku. Goku has been able to withstand incredible blasts, and yet he died from Cell exploding.

DELIBERATION:

Goku will fight Superman mostly on/near ground. The battle will last an incredibly long time, as both will learn about each others' abilities and size the other up. I do feel like SSJ1 Goku will overwhelm Supes in a fight because although Superman has proven to commit feats of strength/speed far more impressive than Goku's, I don't see why a privileged Alien would be able to touch a godly-trained martial artist in close combat. Then again, like Superman, Goku tends to let his enemies get the better of him for no reason at times. Superman, however, will have endurance and indestructibility that Goku has never encountered in the past; energy blasts and projections will not be the most effective against the man of steel. Likewise, the sun will be at hand. Goku will be damaged by the heat vision and possibly frozen by the cold breath(Goku has been able to break out of a frozen state). However, he will learn quickly to prevent further damage done. As seen in the ScrewAttack video, Supes identifying pressure points would be effective against Goku, assuming Supes can connect. A major disadvantage for Supes is that this will be a type of fight he is accustomed to but not ready for. In other threads and posts, insane abilities and feats committed by Supes have been introduced to support the idea that this would be no contest for the Kryptonian. I beg to differ. Cosmic feats and craziness seen by both characters are negligable because they are too situational and lack use in this battle...Goku and Superman both possess the ability to destroy planets, but I believe they are destined to fight each other using martial arts and basic abilites consistently seen because of their styles.

Goku, seen in the Buu Saga as SSJ3, is an absolutely incredible fighter. If he can do damage to Supes with close combat, then the fight will end. If Supes can think of a way to gain significant distance and then connect with enough concussive force, then I don't see why Goku wouldn't be obliterated from the impact. Goku cannot keep SSJ3 up for long, but even SSJ1 is enough for close combat.

I think that Supes would be pounded on for a significant amount of time. He wouldn't have effective means of getting around the supreme martial arts without playing dirty, like focusing on only using pressure points and retreating/attacking from ions away. However, this is out of Supe's character. The Sun could be the ultimate advantage if he persists the fight for too long, and cause Goku to deplete his energy at SSJ3 without finishing the job.

IF: Goku keeps the battle tight and close, forcing Supes to play his game, then Goku will eventually win.

constant beatdown + taunts + focus + spiritual support of friends and family = Goku

IF: Supes manages to cause Goku to rely on energy blasts/projection/SSJ3 without heavy close combat and exploitation = Goku

various techniques to get Goku off guard + exploiting bodily weaknesses + killing blow = Supes

THE FIGHT WILL NOT BE QUICK, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT IS A FIRST ENCOUNTER OR NOT. THIS IS AN ADVANTAGE FOR SUPES, BECAUSE OF HIS ENDURANCE AND INDESTRUCTIBILITY COMPOUNDED WITH THE SUN. IF GOKU CAPITALIZES ON HIS ADVANTAGES AND TAKING SUPES DOWN WHEN HE HAS THE CHANCES, THEN HE CAN WIN WITH OVERWHELMING BEATDOWNS.

Goku's fighting abilities are unmatched, but Superman would be something he's never faced. I think Superman would win the initial fight. IF Goku reincarnates, then he would win the next fight as well as the ones to come. I think it is a matter of who is more powerful/who is faster/who possesses the greater abilities.

GOKU IS MORE DESTRUCTIVE IN A ONE ON ONE FIGHT, AND HE HAS BEEN FORCED TO SURPASS HIS ABILITIES WITH EVERY MAJOR VILLAIN IN DBZ. SUPES RARELY(IF AT ALL) FACES A CHALLENGER AT GOKU'S LEVEL.

What do you think? :)
