US Adaptations of Foreign Comics

A list of comics from other countries that were adapted into US media, such as films or TV shows.

(I won't be adding manga and anime to this list as the majority are already a given. Plus, that's what Anime Vice is for.)

  • 1982 Italian comic series that was loosely adapted into an Anime-influenced animated children's television series in 2003.

  • 1993 Argentine comic series that was loosely adapted into an animated children's television series in 1999.

  • 1999 animated children's television series loosely adapted, and severely toned down, from the original comic series.

  • 1986 Italian horror comic series about a paranormal investigator.

  • 2011 comedy/horror film based off of the original comic series.

  • 1929 Belgian comic series about a young reporter/adventurer.

    In 1991, was made into an animated children's series: "The Adventures of Tintin."

  • 2011 American 3D motion capture computer-animated adventure based off of the original comic series.

  • 1988 British comic series about a largely anarchistic character's disjointed adventures in post-apocalyptic Australia.

  • 1995 science fiction/action film loosely based off of the original comic series.
