A system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.
A relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.
That first one seems like a religion to me. Also the second one is just dependent on the point of view others have for it. Also all religions were small at one point, they just grew.
@mrdecepticonleader: Well, we would all still hate each other anyway. We would just find another reason. For example racism played a part as well with the settling of the west. Or maybe those people like coke and you like pepsi. Getting rid of religion would help with a ton of things, but people would still hate each other. Now it is one less thing to hate each other about and that is good, getting rid of it would help move on to other reasons. Also it would help a lot of people become smarter if they don't cloud themselves will silly ideas. Though the stupid will always be stupid and find other stupid things to believe in.
Also why is a cult worse than a "religion"? A religion is just a cult that became very popular.
@mrdecepticonleader: No I mean way way way before that. Those Native Americans were already in a civilization of their own and they already had their own gods. The people trying to convert them were doing one of the many bad things religion does. The real reason they did all that was to get land anyway. Ya, it is indeed destructive.
