BORN
Since the first star was lit, the cosmos was inhabited by factions of savages, nomads and monsters. As they discovered how to travel between worlds, they also discovered the Eternity Pit, an anomaly in space that many believed to be the source of all creation. War between the primitive tribes erupted over the Pit, and the devastation carried on for centuries. As one faction claimed victory over all their enemies, they celebrated with genocide, forcing their enemies into the Pit as a sacrifice. However, one returned. One clawed his way back out of the Pit. One fell beyond reality, beyond time, beyond life and death, and emerged, fueled by the power of a thousand suns. He was Dathron.
Dathron brought the warring factions to their knees and united them under one banner. Some would say that he saved countless lives by ending the bloodshed, that he was their messiah, the one who gazed into eternity. Dathron wished to spread his divinity to all living things, and in his infinite wisdom, he found only one effective solution to share the Supreme Vision... by force.
For every world he visited, Dathron offered one ultimatum... "JOIN THE PANTHEON, JOIN THE LEGION, OR JOIN THE DEAD."
Dathron had collected energy from the rim of the Eternity Pit, an infinite and self-renewing power source that fueled his conquest. To any who approached him, and he deemed worthy, he would give a piece of the Pit, and they would be named a god at his side. As he conquered numerous worlds, his pantheon grew. Any inhabitants of a planet who were reluctant to join him would be gathered up and dissected to learn everything about the species, and would later be converted into his soldiers. For those who resisted his rule, only death would come.
Dathron's conquest has gone on for millenia, and he has still only claimed a fraction of the Universe. His pantheon of lesser gods numbers in the hundreds, but his most favored subjects remain at the steps of his throne and, although their powers are limited intentionally by Dathron, their power rightly places them in the realm of the gods.
KEEPER OF THE PIT
Dathron is immortal, ageless in his grave, stone-like visage. So drastic were the alterations made by the Eternity Pit that his race of origin is unknown. Even he claims no memory of his existence before his rebirth. Although his underlings were given a mere fraction of the infinite power of the Pit, he was immersed fully in its awesome might, and has been bestowed with nigh-unlimited power.
The Supreme Vision: Dathron is the sole witness to the vastness of time, fate and the Universe. Such knowledge would tear a lesser being apart at the mere imagining. All that he saw in the burning depths of the Pit has been engraved in his mind. Dathron not only sees the past and present across the entire Universe, he has influence over the future. Although he cannot precisely control the future, he can sway the odds in his favor, molding fate like clay in his hands. His brilliance expands beyond the mere tactical and into near omnipotence.
Strength: Dathron's might is enough to shatter armies. He allows the legion to do his fighting out of sheer principle. He believes war to be for lesser beings, and he has no interest in destroying his enemies by his own hand. However, if he is confronted by a foe who demands to fight a god, he will spare no time in ending them. His strength is in excess of one hundred and twenty tons. No apparatus constructed by his underlings has been capable of accurately testing his upper limits in physical strength.
The Eternal Flame: Dathron can summon the energy of the Pit that burns inside him and expel it through his hands or eyes in the form of blasts capable of felling a warship, scorching earth and reducing populations to ash. Because the Flame is self-renewing, he can fire blasts at full force for any length of time without tiring or growing weak.
Endurance: Dathron's skin has been formed into a hard, unbreakable shell by the Flame, but his divine power has only multiplied his durability further. He does not require oxygen and has no known weaknesses. He is immortal in every sense.
Manipulation: Being a god has given Dathron dominion over matter. He can set water aflame, compress armor around a warrior until he is crushed to death, or create an air field in a vacuum, allowing him to speak in space.
