Bad Dads

Do you think your Dad ever gives you guff?  Consider yourself lucky!  This a list of some of the nastiest dads in fiction.  Now, here's how I rank them:  The more the dad hates his offspring AND the more evil he is, the higher he ranks.  Dads who work with their kids or had plans for them don't rank as high.  So with that out of the way, lets get started.

List items

  • Without a shadow of a doubt, the worst dad around. Norman, aside from being a mass-murderer and a psychopath, always makes sure to treat his son like s--- and dosen't care whether he lives or dies. The most recent example of this was in American Son, where he planned to set his son up as this patriotic hero but then have him killed to make him a martyr and Norman look like a hero. Definitely a jerk.

  • The Son actually ranks higher then the father! Well, Carnage here is a dad too nowadays, and had no intention of being one. He vowed to kill his son (Toxin) before he was a day old if he couldn't stop his birth. Then he tried to kill him three times. What an ass-hole.

  • Well, seeing as how his daughter was the result of a rape and the fact that he possessed said daughter to ruin her friend's wedding certainly makes him one of the worst.

  • The guy beats the crap out of his son every single time he sees him. Talk about child abuse. He's also got a real talent for screwing up the DCU in general, so...

  • Like Norman, Kingpin has a tendency to treat his son Richard Fisk like crap. Of course, to be fair, Richard has tried to kill daddy-dearest before, but that was because Kingpin was a jerk to him. Never good to put your business before your boy.

  • Well, can you really be that surprised? The guy just stood there and watched his daughter get tortured, shot his son's best friend out of the sky, and later cut his own son's hand off. And that was after trying to freeze him in carbonite. But he still makes number 6, because it was his love for his son that redeemed him in the end.

  • He did create the Vision, so he counts. Seeing how he's constantly tried to destroy his "son", he certainly counts as a bad dad.

  • Curt Connor's transformations have given his family plenty of grief and put them in serious danger from time to time. At the end of Spider-Man: The Gauntlet, during one of the Lizard's worst-ever transformations, it was believed that he killed his own son during his rampage.

  • Surprised? I'm not, seeing how he hates his son Carnage with a burning passion. The feeling is also mutual.

  • Yeah, I mean come on, the guy's always trying to either kill his daughter or his daughter's lover. Or both.

  • No one likes a guy who puts his intergalactic wars before his daughter.

  • Why do you think House of M happened again?

  • Like Trigon, not only is he a bad dad, but his son isn't even a legitamite one. Still, he had plans for him, but they didn't work out so well.

  • Oh yeah. This guy's job has cost him, in the following order:

    1. His son's voice

    2. His marriage

    3. His other Son

    4. His other kid's love

The only reason he dosen't rank any higher is because he dose try to do good for his kids. And sometimes it actually works.

  • Total loser. To his credit though, he was partially responsible for his daughter becoming Spoiler. Of course, you could argue that that means he is indirectly responsible for her brutal torture at the hands of Black Mask.

  • Guy's an ass-hole. He planned to force his daughter into a life of super-heroics. All he did was raise her in a lie. The guy really shouldn't be applauded for what he planned to and did, put her through.

  • Once again, the son outranks the father. Wife got frozen in carbonite, daughter blames him.

    Attempt at Family: FAILURE

Trying again with his grand-daughter. And, after he unfreezes her from Carbonite, his wife.

  • The reason this guy dosen't rank that high is because he and his son actually work together, the others rank higher because their jerks to their kids as well as being evil. Because Mephisto here actually works with his son, he's not as bad a dad.

  • To be fair, he's actually not that bad a dad. Well, aside from teaching his son to be a remorseless cold-blooded killer, he didn't seem like he was THAT bad to him.

  • Besides the movie, it's been hinted that he may have a daughter in 616. At least that's what it looked like in Spider-Man: The Gauntlet.
