Life and Death in Comics.

Spoiler:  Do not read this article if you have not yet read Siege #4, Second Coming Chapter 5 or Brightest Day #1.

To say the least this may be a topic that has been dragged through the mud its fair share amount of times.  However I have yet to ascertain a certain knowledge of what the comic vine community feals about the whole "death" and "ressurection" of certain characters in comics.  And with death and ressurection being a recently used, again, concept in both DC and Marvel comics I'm kinda curious as to what people feel about these being used in comics currently.

With DC in the recent events of Blackest Night and Brightest Day I feel this is the most innovative use of the concept yet.  From my perspective when a character is brought back its usually "Yay their back, now we get to see them in current continuity."  But here in Brightest Day your faced with a question "What were they brought back for?  What is their purpose?" and even more intersting is that these characters (Aquaman, Martian ManHunter etc) seemed to be tied to their Black Lantern "counterparts".  For instance Aquaman summons dead sea creatures.  So, I feel DC has put a spin on a concept that is kind of tired and used which is a good thing.  I'm just hoping DC continues along this line and doesn't ruin a story with high potential.  But, are any of you excited with this concept?

Recently in Marvel 3 big well established characters have died.  Them being Nightcrawler, Sentry and Loki.  How do you hope Marvel takes these deaths and expand upon them?  What do you want to see?  With Nightcrawler I think we had good remorse on his death and maybe there is more to come.  I'm going to guess at the Second Coming they are going to hold a huge funeral for everyone that passed and there will be more attention paid to Nightcrawler, and who knows maybe even Mystique will show up.  WIth Sentry and Loki I get a mixed feeling.  I wanna see how the Asgard section of the Marvel U handles that death but will anyone be like "It's a shame to see him go" or will it be like "Well atleast that problem is out of our hair for now."?  But the Sentry death is going to stick.  He was already blown apart by multiple powerful foes such as Morgana LeFey and Multiple Man and came right back.  So, with him being a pile of ash in the sun, i don't see that as being that much of a different challenge for him to come back.  But what's got me a bit intrigued is, what are they gonna do with a piece of The Void in Scott Summer's mind?  Is that going to play a part in the Sentry's eventual return?  Who knows, we'll see.  But what do you hope that happens?
