Well the US has murdered innocent civilians and jailing denouncers like Bradley Manning without trial since ww2 and probably before that yet lots of people with extremely successful careers in Hollywood have spoken in favor of the US military. Gal Gadot probably knows very little about the Israeli-Palestinian war beyond what she's seen in the news in Israeli television which are obviously slanted in favor of Israel. She's jewish, what did you expect.
Your right, I expected nothing more. But still, her statement “I am sending my love and prayers to my fellow Israeli citizens Especially to all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country." is pretty full on Nationalism. Shouldn´t she send her prayers to all innocents being affected by the conflict, including, innocent Palestinians.
Again, what do I know, but really bombing hospitals and schools without warning and then calling the other side cowards is pretty reprehensible behavior in my opinion. I don´t think any logical person should condone that, just like it would be terrible to condone Hamas´s terrorist actions. It´s just terrible what´s going on there and I think actors and artists have a responsibility to advocate peace, and trying to find a solution, especially ones cast as Wonder Woman, who has historically been a symbol of peace.
I myself was called anti-semetic on this sight for simply stating that the many of the most powerful players in Hollywood are Jewish and this sometimes can affect even casting. I was deeply hurt as someone who really finds anti-semitism appalling, I thought I was just telling the truth. I don´t think in the end having a negative opinion on the actions of a nation should constitute racism and if an argument is reduced to that every time one does criticize a peoples, then one has to question the motivations of those people in their entirety. I don´t think it does anything to garner sympathy for Israel if that is what they need to resort to when called out on questionable military policy.
Gal Gadot is playing WW, which is slightly different, but I understand what you´re saying. I´m surprised that is Natalie Portman´s stance.
