@CATPANEXE: Reading your reply made perfect sense to me. I suppose to fully grasp the perspective this entry is speaking to revolves around my desire for the whole picture. As you've mentioned this isn't for everyone. I don't NEED to know what happened in Action Comics #156. I do, however, feel like veteran readers of a title grow close to a character because they've essentially grown up with them. This isn't saying that someone who doesn't give a flip won't make that connection. Blerg, I'm tripping over my words. I suppose the best example I can close with is following continuity in comic books is like watching all Seinfeld episodes in order. The show doesn't make any less sense if you choose not to. It's still just as funny if you start with the fifth season rather than the first. But if you choose to, you get to see the characters grow and develop and can look back and see where they started. For me, I gain comfort from this.
