His reasoning for not having Jason and Artemis is flawed. Especially when you have them being flirty towards each other. Then there's that date even if it was "mostly bogus". Fans want it and as does the powers that be so why not give us it?
@hydrosphere_13: I think we both know Jason changed a lot since his days as Robin. His murder changed him and his feelings towards Batman's flawed code so I don't see how it makes sense that the one guy out of the Bat Family who believes that some enemies should die would wear a symbol that is everything against his beliefs. But to each their own.
@castiel_18: He doesn't need one. He doesn't believe in symbols and costumes. At least that's what he said in Under the Hood. Why can't he just be the black sheep that comes and in and out when he's needed? He can play by Batman's rules in Gotham but under no circumstances she he be branded by Batman, Batman shouldn't be Jason's boss.
@daredevil21134: Take it up with DC's editorial then cause Lobdell has stated in interviews Jason was suppose to go on a rampage in the Akila arc but editorial was like he promised Batman he wouldn't kill. It's like they didn't even see the part with Batman saying my CITY my rules lol. Overall I rather like Rebirth's Jason and I'm glad he's moving on from his issues with his death and Bruce and becoming who he wants to be. Now if Lobdell would stop being Lobdell and let my man get laid....preferably with Artemis then all will be right.
The editorial sucks, and yes he should have banged Artemis already- that date was such a load of crap! I think Lobdell is holding out on the relationship because editorial wants it. He probably has sour grapes because they keep giving him all these dumb restrictions. Overall I like the way Lobdell writes Jason but it looks like the Starfire controversy made him timid to write in romance. I wouldn't mind if Jason hooked back up Isabel either. But Jason promises Bruce not to kill goes against the fundamentals of his characters. Jason doesn't believe in Batman's methods, and honestly he has every reason not to. Jason Todd doesn't want to be redeemed because he feels like he's doing what needs to be done. I don't get how Jason came to apologizing to Bruce. It;s senseless and a cheap way to keep Jason in good terms with the Batman and has hundreds of minions.
I felt so bad for Jason in that issue cause he was really into that date so Lobdell needs to get over himself and let Jason get something if it's not going to be with Artemis then let it be with someone else like Rose Wilson. I think him and Rose would mesh well together and she would fit in with the outlaws. It's honestly starting to become petty at this point cause in the annual they had Artemis becoming another of Dick Grayson's fangirls. Though I think Artemis was just trying to tease Jason and learn more about him. And I'm perfectly fine with Jason abiding Bruce's deal.....as long as it's in Gotham and not in the middle of a war zone. But outside of a lack of romance for Jason and DC effectively neutering him I'm loving his current run and I can't wait for RHATO 21.
I am okay with Jason not killing in Gotham as well since he's too popular to keep away from the Bat Family. It seems like a good way where Jason can still be true to himself and still stick around the Bat Family from time to time. The issue is he's living in Gotham. Why not give him own city or let him become a globe trotter getting rid of organized crime? Though he did say he didn't believe crime could be stopped, but rather controlled. So i wouldn't mind him getting his own city and setting his own rules.
I always had an idea that he found out that Willis Todd wasn't really a bad father and that he used to be a respectable cop or government agent until he ultimately got screwed by corrupt people and lost everything- so he moved to Gotham and was forced to become a criminal to provide his family cause he had no other choice. That made him fall on hard times and acted like a bad father. Then I'd have Jason move back to the city that was near Gotham and find out who the people wore that tore his family apart, kill them and then ultimately adopt the city for himself. That way he has roots. Just a thought. lol
Jason fits perfect with Rose. I'd like a Red Hood solo with Rise or Artemis as his main love interest. I'm just over the Outlaws. Jason deserves his own solo series.
