They'd just replace him with his son and pretend nothing ever happened. Also I don't think Marvel should kill off anyone, they do it every week and they don't need this thread for suggestions at all. (If it's a book Jeph Loeb is working on change 'week' to 'page')
The truth: Marvel comics needs to stop breaking characters people like. Unf#$k Dr. Strange, the people I got in mind:

I remember when Dr. Strange had awesome stories, full of fantasy and wonder, I think Joss Whedon is the guy with the imagination and wordcraft to write an awesome story and I really liked Kubert's run on Batman, I think it'd suit.
One of the best things about Cable is you never really quite know what his angle is and when he's written properly he comes off as a masterful planner and a great tactician. He's one of my favorite characters, particularly when he is drawn by someone with an inkling of human anatomy.
