And with issue #7 of "Captain" Marvel, the book has already dropped out of the top 100 - something that didn't happen to Ms. Marvel's previous run until issue #32. Can we have the real Ms. Marvel back now?

Meh. I'm fine with her wearing something new temporarily. But this is the 10th or so time someone has tried to put her into something different before she eventually goes back to her tried and true iconic costume. I don't mind her having a look that fits a particular storyline, so long as nobody is actually trying to make it a new permanent look for her. I like this outfit for X-Force (just as when Wolverine and company were put in similar black costumes), but when she makes appearances in any other books, I'll expect the artists of those books to put her back into her "true" outfit.

I don't get your issue, are you saying you don't want Psylocke to be redesigned because Marvel never sticks to one or do you just want any redesign to be temporary in general?

I think that trying to give Psylocke a new costume is both futile and ridiculous. Her look works or she wouldn't be one of the most popular comic book females ever. I'm fine with giving her a temporary costume change to fit a certain role, but it shouldn't be advertised as "her new look". That's like having Batman appear in scuba gear for an underwater adventure and calling that his new costume. The same thing happened to Ms. Marvel, and look how poorly her new book is selling compared to the previous book.

This reminds me of all the movie remakes being done recently. Sure you get a hit with a couple of them, but most of them just pale in comparison to the original. And soon you just start rolling your eyes when you see another remake and wonder why they can't just come up with an original idea (in this case, an original new character). For some reason, Psylocke is one of the worst victims of this. Every couple years someone comes along and tries to change her look or kill her off. Then when someone else takes over, she's back in the look that's already been proven highly successful.

I actually like the change, 'cause It irritates me that the Avenger females were clones of popular males (i.e. Spider-man/Spider-woman), and she sort of becomes a superhero in her own right. And the costume isn't so exploitive or whatever.

Except this is the opposite of what's happened with Carol. She was already her own superhero with her own name and look. (In fact the whole POINT of her iconic black costume was because she didn't want to be associated with Captain Marvel). Now Marvel is turning her into a Captain Marvel clone, name and all.

I'm with Billy Batson 100% on this.

Personally, despite being a big fan I found it difficult to see her as a super hero in her own right for a long time. As long as she only adapted Mar-vell's title into her name she was in his shadow. And I think the black costume, nice as it was, restricted her to being a sex symbol with most artists. Glad she kept the sash though. I also think in her new book she is characterised a lot more strongly than in recent history so again I find she has a stronger identity.

Just out of curiosity, did you read Ms. Marvel's previous run (the one that lasted 50 issues)? She definitely had her own identity in that book. It even sold very well for the first half, far better than this new book. If I recall correctly, at least one of the issues even made it in the top 20 of all comics that month. The new book on the other hand ranks around the 80s.

Very nice, detailed artwork. 'Tis how it should be. Also they've finally put Captain Marvel (Danvers) in her new costume. About time they caught up with her book.

Sorry I feel just the opposite about this. I think it's a mistake for them to put Ms. Marvel in that look (with that ridiculous name change to boot). Just look at how poorly her current series is doing (especially compared to the previous Ms. Marvel run). They keep trying to force this new look for Carol on us, and most of us don't want it.

I was thinking about this the other day... I honestly never read much Batgirl with Stephanie Brown, but I did like Barbara Gordon better as Oracle anyway. Even given the ability to walk again, I would have preferred that she remained as Oracle but who will help in the field when needed (probably not as batgirl, either but as another identity, else we wouldn't have a full-time batgirl).

Should I hunt down the 2009 Batgirl run, with Stephanie Brown as Batgirl? I've heard it was awesome, so I've been thinking about picking it up.

I vote yes. I loved that run.

And I seriously doubt Young Justice was delayed because of a Stephanie Brown cameo. Green Lantern was also delayed until January.

Maybe Steph was going to cameo in green lantern...

HA! Hmm... Steph as a Star Sapphire... :D

I would prefer Yvonne Strahovski as Captain Marvel.

I definitely agree with the Yvonne Stahovski bit, but it needs to be as Ms. Marvel with Mar-Vell as Captain Marvel.
