Hey kids, whiskey should NOT be used as a treat! FYI 1

1. Cover art: 4.5/5.I thought this cover was fantastic. Is it great? No, but it is eye catching, detailed, and fun. The detail on the BAMFs really did it for me, with their individual tattoos, eager expressions creating the chaos around the stoicly poised Wolverine. You can see, ISH is about to go down b/c Wolverine has had enough. Good cover.2. Story: 4/5This is one of my weekly pulls and just when I was about to drop this sorry book, I have been recapivated. The story teeters on the serious an...

Superman unchained: Snyder seemed to have left a few chains on 2

1. Cover art: 4.5/5I LOVE Jim Lee! He is the reason I fell back in love with comics. I LOVE Superman, especially when he is drawn by Jim Lee. This cover is definitely unique with that Jim Lee flair, but in a previous post, I stated I would never give a full 5/5 when I believe the artist, even as great as Jim Lee, phones it in with the feet! WHY DO THEY NEVER DRAW THE FEET! Please, draw a great cover and include the feet, stop masking it in rubble, or smoke, or water, or whatever, draw the feet, ...

X-Men #2 "Clean-up, on Isle 2" Review 1

Cover Art: 4.5/5 I have always been a fan of "realism" with a splash of "fantasy" when it come to my comic art. I want the proportions to be accurate, I want realistic movement, I want great expressionism, and I like a little fantasy to bring it home. Coipel does a fantastic job on this cover bringing solidarity and drama in the face of Jubilee and movement with the team behind her. I never give a cover a 5/5 unless I see some feet! I think for a lot of artists, this is a total cop-out to not ...

Character development is key 0

This issue takes a breath to develop Jean Grey. Jean is powerful and impetuous. When Angel chooses to join current timeline Cyclops and his team, Jean attempts to forcefully intercede and "make" Angel stay with the original team, she learns a powerful and painful lesson from the Cuckoos, whom at this point are more adept with their powers. I enjoy reading how Jean is portrayed in this book. She is drawn and written as a teenager, which is what she is. She is strong but weak. She is lost and "ref...

The best keeps getting better 1

Every great story has a few classic ingredients; character growth, a journey full of pitfalls and revelations, pain, persecution, and deliverence. This book has all of the elements for a truely great story. (5/5) The art is something that has grown on me. I have always been attracted to a more "Jim Lee" style, but the art and writing on this book produces a perfect marriage, as by book 5, I am a total fan! The facial expressions are my personal favorite, Especially in the interaction with the St...
