@M.S. Feather: I'm still wobbling on whether or not I want this to be a print comic, web comic, or both. Leaning toward print with 2-3 page online previews for each issue :) I'm going to try to get in 2-3 pages per week and hopefully I'll get it done asap. I need to have it completed by the middle of September.
@tonis: There's no contest. I did Tori and Bernard on CS5 Illustrator as well. There are certain features like tapering at the end of lines (Illustrator) and the different brushes (Photoshop) that are indispensable.
Preview of the new Magia High lineart I'm doing. I got CS5 and so I'm going back and redoing the lineart to make it look good. Next step will be coloring :)
So I came across a website the other day discussing the terribly sad story of a teenage girl who was raped and then kicked off the cheer-leading squad for refusing to cheer for the two boys who raped her. When she sued the school system for this stupid act of theirs, she actually lost. Now, this poor kid and her family are stuck with $45,000 in court fees. This website was aiming to help raise money to support her and her family. A comic book artist was selling 5 prints for $25 or something like that. It sounded to me like that was an amazing way that someone could use their talents and passions to actually help people.
That all being said, I gathered my female comic creator's group and told them we needed to help this cause as well. To use our superpowers to help this girl out. So we took this artist's awesome lead and decided to set up a table in front of our local comic book store to sell sketches on the spot, prints, baked goods, and anything we could think of to help. All of the money raised will go to helping this girl's family out. We also unanimously agreed that we would accept ANY donations from ANYONE who wanted to help. Guys included!
Coming to the point of this thread, I am asking my comicvine art buddies to put themselves out there. We need donations for this. If you are interested in donating something for this, please let me know in messages. What you can do is get it printed via Kinkos, your school, or somewhere that does generally nice printing. Framing is optional although it does increase the value of your art. After you get it printed and/or framed, you can mail it to me here in Atlanta and I will use it for the event. I will need donations BEFORE July 23rd. That is when the event will occur. Message me for more details.
For more information or if you would prefer to donate directly to the original website, go here: http://www.helpthecheerleader.com/
Again, MESSAGE ME if you have a print you would like to mail me. I will give more details and an address there.
