Why hide it?

Maybe somethings should stay secret
Maybe somethings should stay secret
I've never hidden my comic geekdom, even before X-Men and Spider-man films helped make it cool. I was known as Spider-man at school and most of the places I've worked I've been known as Superman. It's never been a problem, in fact it usually gives me something to talk about when I meet new people because everyone knows who Superman and Batman are.

I can't remember the chain of events, but I found myself clubbing in a Green Lantern T-Shirt a little while ago. It started no end of random conversations with people through the night, I've never been so popular then with Hal Jordan as my wing man!.

I do keep my Zatanna obsession to myself though because it is just creepy.

MMOs The final frontier...

I nearly called this blog "Nergasm", but I thought that was a little vulgar. Anyways, after Cryptic, the people behind City of Heroes, dropped their Marvel MMO, things went a little quiet. While I was looking forward to their Marvel efforts, I'm now happy that DCU Online will be getting the spotlight. I am also happy, because they have more time for working on this:

Yes, it's a Star Trek MMO! It was in development at another studio, but Cryptic have taken over and reannounced it. According to Cryptic Studios' executive producer Craig Zinkievich, the game takes place in 2409, about thirty years after Star Trek: Nemesis. This means that while events and characters from the shows may be referenced, you won't be experiencing them, but instead living your own adventure. As you gain ranks, you'll be able to access better ships and better upgrades for them, with which you'll be able to "seek out new life and new civilizations."

It all looks very interesting and Cryptic is a trusted name in MMOs. This could be where I go when I need to hang up my cape for a little while and beat up some Klingons instead.

Is it a bird, is it a plane... well it is a flying egg!

A new production video is up for the Watchmen movie. This one shows the production of Owlman's giant egg-shaped vehicle.

Check it out, along with other Watchmen videos here:

More mainstream, but this is fan-made, it's the Batmobile! I think the first photo also shows us Batman's secret hiding place in case he loses his utility belt.

Betsy

Sexy mutant ninja, what's not to love?
Sexy mutant ninja, what's not to love?
I am going to have to go with the sister of our national icon, Captain Britain and say Psylocke. Lots of characters change their costumes in an effort to stay up to date, but only Betsy Braddock changed her body too.

Lots of superheroes have problems, but Psylocke really manages to attract trouble. Whether it's her reality warping and insane brother Jamie, alternate versions of her twin, Brian, Mojo kidnapping her and replacing her eyes, having her body swapped, her powers changed once a fortnight and all manner of other nightmares. Through it all though, Betsy has gone from distressed sister of a superhero in her Captain Britain days to one of the toughest X-people I can think off. She has even taken on the mantle of Captain Britain in her brother's absence.

Few X-Men can handle Emma Frost's barbed tongue, but Betsy did just after being resurrected by her mad brother and kept her cool. I would have liked to see her stay on in the X-Men, but Marvel put her in the Exiles where she continued to be the greatest.

It was Jim Lee's version that I first noticed Psylocke with her ninja skills and unique strappy costume. Tough as Wolverine (and much better looking) and witty and sexy as Emma Frost (without the bitchiness), Psylocke is the best X-Man. Ever.

Tough Choice

JLA #61
JLA #61
As I was thinking about this, a few Alex Ross covers came to mind. Marvels, Justice, Kingdom Come, Action Comics, JSA all feature his work and instantly became classics in my eyes. For a little while, I was trying to pick between his covers.

However, this cover to JLA 61 really came to define my favourite incarnation of the Justice League for me. I know there are better covers, even within this volume, but when I think of the Justice League, this image comes to mind first. So of all the covers, this is the one that has stayed with me the longest.

Reply to my last blog

Because the post button is hidden behind my previous blog, I've created a new blog to reply.

Fortunately, DCU Online will be available on the PC. I don't know if they will share a server with PS3 players (as was the intention with Marvel Online).

Here is a trailer video:
