Would you become a superhero?

Let's say that one morning you wake up and suddenly discover that you now have superpowers. Would you become a superhero? Don't answer lighthearted. Think, would you be able to handle fights with super-villains, limited free time, potential life-threatening injuries, problems with family and loved ones and problems with your job? Considering all these, would you?

Definitely, being a superhero would be awesome. I have no idea what I want to do right now, so it would be perfect timing. A Green Lantern Power Ring or access to the Speed Force is preferable.

No. I'm only 11 so being a superhero would have advantages like some thugs not wanting to shoot ya but other then that no I can't handle it.

No, it's a lot more fun being a supervillain and it's easer of a life too.

So you would buy a costume from a costume shop from the workers...kind of suspicious don't you think? Especially if you're on the news. :P

hmmmmmmmmmm never thought that far ahead

Nah i'm far too lazy to save the day, i'd probably just use the abilities for personal gain, there is no "Real supernatural crime" in this world so a power that will help you endure life is best.

Posted by ironshadow

I would create multiple secret identities, as a superhero I would save people and as a villain I would kill other villains and punish criminals and take their money and technology and stuff to fund my superhero and charity activities.

Posted by Aronmorales

Might get in the way of my teenage life, but hell, my needs don't compare to the world's.

Posted by ~The Wanderer~

Nah.  But then I'd prolly carry around a mask (that would cover my whole face except for the eyes) or whatever at all times, and maybe occasionally jump around buildings and stuff (depends on the powers though, but I was imagining Spidey-like powers atm).  If I saw a crime or accident in action, I'd be careful but still try to stop it/save the ones involved, but I wouldn't actively look for crimes or accidents to stop.

I would probably do it every once in a while but would not let my life get consumed by it. I would also go out in a disguise when I do that. Wouldn't want to be captured and subjected to several tests. I would also use it for personal gain (just wouldn't be able to resist. lol)

Depends on the power.....

Posted by TheJuggernautpunch

No . I prefer to be neutral .

Posted by ForbushBug

Nope, I'd be like the Blur in Supreme Power and rake in the cash. Plus depending on the power, chances are you can do more good in other areas other than beating up thugs who would just go free since you're not  a cop and won't testify.

Edited by joshmightbe

here's what i'd do id get a job with the police department basically become a super cop that way id get to stop crime and all that without having to have a side job o secret identity those are more trouble than they're worth plus you'd have a steady paycheck

Yup.

No i would become a super villain. better dental

Anti Hero
Posted by xscarletkittie

Would depend on the power. Chances are, though, I probably wouldn't play superhero. I don't think people are worth the time and danger, especially when you'll likely get nothing in return for it. If I did do something with it aside from personal gain, I'd likely be that anti-hero that everyone would end up hating by dispensing my own brand of justice.

Posted by HellionVulcan

No as u have to go by a standard & i couldn't i'd rather be a punisher/moon knight kinda anti-hero .

Posted by ViciousCesar!

i'd rather be a villain.

Posted by NexusOfLight

Nope. Not at all. Wouldn't be a super hero, wouldn't be a super villain, wouldn't be anything. If I woke up and discovered I had powers, all I'd do is go about my daily life. Nothing would change. Don't care what the power is, so long as my mind, body, and soul remain relatively unchanged so shall I. Why is that? Selfishness? Laziness? No, at least I'd like to hope not. The main reason would be the fact that I'd have no reason to flaunt my powers for the good--or bad--of mankind. Most super heroes became heroes because of something happening in their life. For Spider-man it was his Uncle Ben. For Batman, it was his parents. If non of that kinda stuff happens to me, then I'm good just livin' my regular ol' life.

yes , l would but  l'm a loner by natural l don't like being around people too long but if l see somebody in need then l would help them if l can , now just image that with super-powers

Nope, I would become a mercenary and get paid.

Villain, then reform

Posted by yuenish_leshathe

no...i'll just be a super, never a hero. =P

Anarchistic vigilante. So, not exactly a hero in the traditional sense.

Not in a traditional way. I would became a travelling rumour, like Clark Kent before becoming Superman in Birthright

I loved that idea. Birthright was awesome. I'm annoyed that Secret Origin retconned it into obscurity.

I haven't read the new Secret Origins, some people were saying it was great, but I'm doubtful, because I really love Birthright. Did you read Secret Origins? Don't tell be that is another attempt to make ever single superhero dark as Batman!?!

Not really, and it's a decent enough story in its own right; it's just not as good as Birthright. Since Birthright was 12 issues and just focused on Superman, Clark, Lois and Lex (for the most part), everything had time to mature and grow at a nice pace. Secret Origins feels really rushed, and many of his rogues gallery are introduced a little earlier than I'd like.

But it's not really dark, the only thing that's along those lines is that people are initially distrustful towards him. Especially the military.

Supervillain - okay
Superhero - No No
Being a supervillain has all the extra perks associated, whcih being a superhero wont provide.

I'd love to kick some bad-guy ass. [:
robbers, muggers, rapists.  They won't even see me coming!

anit hero
kill those that i deem shouldnt be allowed live
and that is a very vague sentiment

Posted by longbowhunter

Yeah, I've thought it over many a time. I know in my heart of hearts I'd be a villian.
Posted by RedK

yes and no, i'd have two identitys one for heroism and the other for villiany but world destruction more along the line of secretly robbing banks and running an underground mafia for people with powers, but after doing this for years on end i'd probably get bored of doing both so leave the planet and explore space and if theirs life out their help them along for a while before i left again

If I get to choose my powers and abilities.

Looks like I will have to go after half the people in this thread. :p

Good thing they didn't try to make him darker. But your comments don't inspire me to read it.
One thing I know, I like more Birthright's Jor-El. His clothing is a good excuse for Superman's costume.
