Hi, it is. I can't even express in words how cool it is. I mean the guy worked on some of my favorite comics - Swamp Thing, Batman, Daredevil and like his fellows, he's a very nice person too. Thanks for sharing!
I take care of the websites but yes, ever since we became a non profit we are more than one person. Our board members are James Cupelli (President), Tammy Russell (Secretary) and Joe Alkire (Treasurer) and then 2 more, myself (Executive Director) and Peter Manoalkos (Executive Financial Officer). Many Thanks and hope this helps!
Battle Forum junkie - Hi, yes! It was pretty cool. It was my 1st time meeting him as well. I hope you get to meet him sometime too! *Bigger pic is on it's way!
Manwhohaseverything - It was at the NY Comic Con! Many Thanks! ~Roger
wundagoreborn - I totally agree. Joe was great. When I went up to him, introduced myself and then I said 'You know, it was wolverine #1-4 that put him on the map!' and without hesitation he smiled and said 'You bet it was!' - which opened the door to a very good conversation.
In my opinion, the most basic convention is just made up by vendors. Then, if this is somewhat successful, then the show will add some professionals from the industry as guests the following year. So maybe your asking yourself just exactly what am I getting at? I'm merely pointing out that our relationship with the pro's is reciprocal. They are the cornerstone of any show. And when it comes to the Comic Book Hall of Fame, the name alone really says it all, we are and will be all about the professionals. That and we are going to stay true as much as possible to comic book history. One way we can, is a subtle change in words. Example - '1st published appearance' as opposed to the word 'cameo' - case in point, Wolverine. 1st appearance in Incredible Hulk 180, last page one panel. In this case '1st published appearance' in my opinion sounds better and is a little more true to comic book history, than 'cameo' which really should be reserved for minor secondary or later appearances. Now, a or the Comic Book Hall of Fame is not planning on taking over comics but we do plan on doing things differently and in a informative but entertaining way.
Hi, Fans decide! Our selection committee ONLY oversee and verify the nominations and votes! We will be posting more on this very soon too! The website is www.comicbookhalloffame.org and what is up now is going to be replaced with the new. Hope this helps and stay tuned!
