1.1

Close up of a folder labeled “Yearly Budget Review” on the Oval Office desk.

FURY JR.: Resilient’s arc reactors cut the Helicarrier’s fuel cost by 95%, which R&D’s still trying to apply to the jetpacks.

1.2

POV from the president as Fury Jr. sits across from him. A pair of secret service agents are standing in the background, fairly casually.

FURY JR.: Of course, the jetpack corps still has a lack of volunteers, but now that the recruitment division has more room for spending--

1.3

There’s a bright explosion of rainbow-light outside the Oval Office windows. The president (who’s clearly supposed to be Obama) can only be seen silhouetted against the glare.

SFX: FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

1.4

Fury Jr. turns away from the windows, shielding his good eye, towards the secret service agents. The president starts moving under his desk.

FURY JR.: AGGGGH

FURY JR.: MR. PRESIDENT, GET…

1.5

Fury Jr. sees one of the secret service agents aiming a gun at the president, while the other stars pulling out his own gun.

Page 2.

2.1

Fury jumps into the office through the window. He’s holding an M60 in one hand now.

SFX: KRSSSSSSHHHHHHH

2.2

Fury poses behind the desk, gun raised.

2.3

Over the shoulder view of Fury looking at Fury Jr., who’s standing over the already dead secret service agents, pointing one of their guns at Fury. The door is propped shut with a chair.

Page 3.

3.1

Fury and Fury Jr. looking at each other awkwardly. The President stands up in the background, his face obscured behind Fury’s gun.

FURY JR.: …Hey.

FURY: Hey.

3.2

Same shot. The president points out the window.

FURY JR.: Weren’t you dead?

FURY: It was more of a business trip.

PRESIDENT: That was bulletproof glass!

3.3

Same shot.

FURY JR.: …Uh-huh.

FURY JR.: And I shouldn’t just shoot you now because..?

PRESIDENT: We’re on the second floor!

3.4

Same shot. The president vanishes in another flash of bright light.

SFX: pop

3.5

Strange levitates in through the window.

STRANGE: Don’t worry, Nicholas.

STRANGE (small text): New Nicholas.

STRANGE: Your father is quite real, your president is safely aboard the helicarrier, and we’ve brought an army of funeral attendees!

3.6

Fury Jr.’s face. He’s clearly annoyed.

Page 4.

4.1

The various heroes and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents standing out on the White House Lawn, surrounded by secret service agents. The agents have their guns raised.

4.2

Captain America and Director Johnson walk over to one of the secret service agents.

AGENT: FREEZE!

CAP: At ease, we’re all friendlies here.

AGENT: WHAT WAS THAT EXPLOSION?

JOHNSON: That was just a miscommunication with our… Wizard… Friend…

4.3

The agent aiming the gun.

AGENT: YOU ARE ORDERED TO SURRENDER UNTIL WE HAVE CONFIRMATION OF--

SFX (small): boom

4.4

Everyone on the lawn turns to look at the city.

SFX (small): boom

5.1

Inside the Oval Office. Fury pokes one of the dead agents with his gun, while Strange tries to examine the body.

FURY: --were SUPPOSED to get here before they moved on the president, but someone had to scare ‘em with his big Vegas entrance.

STRANGE: Ohhh, and that’s for shooting them quietly, is it?

5.2

Fury walks towards the president’s desk, while Fury Jr. follows him. Strange ignores them both.

FURY: I’m guessing they dropped dead like at the beach house, right?

FURY JR.: And the A.I.M. base.

5.3

Fury turns to look at Fury Jr., confused.

FURY: What A.I.M. base?

FURY JR.: The one we busted in New York. Had more of these sleepers stockpiling old gadgets from dead supervillains.

5.4

Fury looks down at the desk. Fury Jr. and even Strange both look at him

FURY (small text): No… Hitler woulda bragged if he’d had an army of capes on standby.

FURY JR.: …

FURY JR.: Hitler?

5.5

Fury sees the “Yearly Budget Review” folder.

5.6

Fury’s eye narrows.

FURY: Ah dammit.

Page 6.

6.1

Flashback to Fury Jr. in Fury’s bunk in issue 1.

FURY JR.: …coordinating damage control on the Goldbug massacre…

6.2

Flashback to Juniper in Fury’s bunk in issue 1.

JUNIPER: …Most of the deities on Hell’s side are just willing to sit back and take any souls they get in the crossfire…

JUNIPER: …we send a few of our own, and to the locals it all just looks like the super-person-shenanigans of the week…

6.3

Flashback to Mephisto in the Limbo-Apartment in issue 2

MEPHISTO: …Your buddies didn’t pay me THAT much…

6.4

Flashback to Hitler in the dark confrence room in issue 3.

HITLER: …Of course, one cannot move a soul without paying the afterlife back. And with interest…

6.5

Flashback to Juniper in Heaven.

JUNIPER: …there were some unexpected setbacks, so we had some funds to spare…

Page 7.

7.1

Back to the Oval Office. Fury walks to the window, while Fury Jr. and Strange still watch him.

FURY: That stockpile. That wasn’t part of Hell’s backup.

7.2

POV out the window. All the heroes and agents have turned to look at some kind of panic on the DC mall.

7.3

Zoom in on the mall. There are hundreds of formerly dead supervillains massacring civilians.

FURY: It was part of Heaven’s flood.

Page 8.

8.1

Fury Jr. walks up to Fury. Strange stays in the background.

FURY JR.: You’re saying those are friendlies?

FURY: I’m saying they’re looking for sleepers too, but they’re not gonna be worried ‘bout collateral damage.

FURY: We need to minimize casualties, but…

8.2

Same shot. Fury Jr. turns to point at Strange.

FURY JR.: But you can sense all these guys? And the sleepers?

STRANGE: In the immediate area, yes.

FURY JR.: And you can do the telepathy thing?

STRANGE: Well, I don’t mean to brag…

8.4

Strange and Fury look at each other. Strange finally seems to be taking the situation seriously.

FURY: Can you shut ‘em all down from here?

STRANGE: They’ve had some form of mental tempering… Subtle, but well rooted. To break even one of them would take time…

8.5

Fury Jr. looks out the window.

FURY JR.: Right.

FURY JR.: So Plan B.

Page 9.

9.1

Front view of the heroes and agents out on the White House lawn.

STRANGE (telepathically): Attention everyone, this is Doctor Stephen Strange.

STRANGE (TP): The malefactors before you have all been influenced to target civilians. However, some amongst the crowd have received similar influencing from another side.

9.2

Close up on Captain America at the head of the group, with several heroes behind him.

STRANGE (TP): I’ll be separating you into two teams.

STRANGE (TP): Team One is to deal with the masked reprobates. I may help coordinate, but I’m sure you’re used to this sort of thing.

9.3

Close up on Johnson, with S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents behind her.

STRANGE (TP): Team Two will be weeding out Sleeper Agents in the crowds. I’ll be broadcasting each of their locations telepathically, you’ll just be getting to and subduing them.

STRANGE (TP): Are there any questions?

9.4

Fury, Fury Jr. and Strange stand on the White House balcony. Strange is levitating, legs crossed and eyes glowing.

FURY: THIS ISN’T A DAMN COMMITTEE!

9.5

The group charges toward the mall.

FURY: MOVE THE HELL OUT!

Page 10.

10.1

Overhead view of Falcon flying over the mall, with the various heroes and villains fighting underneath him.

10.2

Mangler rushes at a group of panicking civilians.

10.3

Falcon swoops down and kicks Mangler in the face.

10.4

The crowd Mangler was chasing runs into a mueseum.

10.5

Dum Dum Dugan tackles a woman in the crowd to the ground, holding zip-tie handcuffs in his other hand. Speedfreak runs by in the background.

Page 11.

11.1

Fury and Fury Jr. fire their guns, Strange levitating right behind them. Further in the background, Iron Fist trips Speedfreak.

FURY: This is a--

FURY JR.: Clusterf***?

FURY: Well, I was gonna say good plan, but…

11.2

Same shot. Now Iron Fist is fighting Typeface in the background.

STRANGE (TP): Nicholases?

FURY & FURY JR. (same time): WHAT?

11.3

The Capitol Building. Mr. Fantastic is fighting the original Kangaroo in front of it, while Captain America fights Humbug.

CAPTION: STRANGE: It seems these attackers are all diverting towards the Capitol Building.

11.4

Strange levitating.

STRANGE (TP): I’m not detecting any of your sleeper agents inside the building.

STRANGE (TP): But there does seem to be one moving away from it, north. In an underground panic tunnel.

11.5

Fury runs away from Fury Jr. and Strange.

FURY (small text): Sounds about right.

FURY JR.: THE HELL ARE YOU GOING?

Page 12.

12.1

Fury runs into a street, near the Thing grappling with Blockbuster.

12.2

Fury lifts a manhole cover off the street with one hand.

12.3

Fury lands in a dark, round sewer tunnel.

12.4

Fury runs down the tunnel, turning a corner.

12.5

Fury reaches a pipe that leads back outside, creating a light at the end of the tunnel.

Page 13.

13.1

Fury uses a gadget to spray a door-sized circle on the side of the tunnel.

13.2

Fury stands back. There’s a green flash of light (just a flash, not an explosion).

SFX: FSSSSSSSSSSSS

13.3

Fury steps through a new hole in the tunnel where the gel was. The walls of the hole are still glowing green. It leads to a well lit hallway.

13.4

Fury exits into the hallway, in front of a panicked crowd of senators, congressmen, and ect. He’s holding his gun up at the ceiling.

FURY: Everybody stay calm, I’m with…

Page 14.

14.1

Fury gets shot in the left ribs. He drops his gun.

SFX: BLAM

FURY: AGGGh…

14.2

Eva is pointing a smoking handgun at Fury, smiling. All the other representatives are running back the way they came.

EVA: LOOK OUT, HE HAS A GUN!

14.3

Fury dives into the hole he came through, leaving his gun behind. Eva continues firing at him.

SFX: BLAM

SFX: BLAM

14.4

Eva walks through the hole.

EVA: Ohhhh, so your cohorts helped you back here, did they?

EVA: Made you more spry?

14.5

Fury’s fist backhands Eva in the face.

SFX: KRAK

14.6

Eva falls to the floor of the sewer, dropping her gun.

Page 15.

15.1

Fury reaches down towards Eva with his right arm, but she ducks under his grip, grabbing a knife on his belt.

EVA: HA!

15.2

Eva stands up behind Fury, holding up the knife. The light at the end of the tunnel is behind her.

EVA: As if I can’t escape them again!

15.3

Fury turns and limps toward her, his right hand covering his gun wound (though it’s so dark we can’t actually see his hand). Eva backs up.

EVA: Oh, it’ll take time. But I have an eternity!

EVA: Perhaps starting with America was too rash. There are always other nations with less super people. Less paranoia.

15.4

Eva backs up to the end of the tunnel, silhouetted against the round light just like Death was in issue 2.

EVA: Kill me, capture me, it doesn’t matter!

EVA: Eventually, I WILL return to Limbo! I WILL be able to rebuild!

15.5

Fury, still clutching his ribs.

EVA: I WILL take this world so subtly that it won’t even know it!

Page 16.

16.1

Fury lifts his right hand from his, rib, shooting Eva. He was actually holding her gun up to his chest.

SFX: BLAM

16.2

Eva, surprised, falls backward out of the tunnel.

16.3

Fury looks out of the tunnel.

FURY: Subtlety’s overrated.

16.4

Eva falls, about to land in a small canal.

16.5

Eva lands on snowy ground instead.

SFX: thump

EVA: UHHHH

Page 17.

17.1

Eva looks around. She’s in the hell-maze from issue 4, but the graffiti is now of the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo repeated over and over. Hitler stands a few feet away from her, shocked.

EVA: W-w-w-w-

HITLER: EVA!

17.2

Hitler helps her up.

HITLER: Oh, my dear! they got you too!

EVA: They..?

17.3

Over the shoulder view of Eva looking up. Mephisto is standing on top of one of the maze walls, looking down at her. He’s still wearing the trench coat and fedora, but the angle and the shading suddenly make it look menacing.

MEPHISTO: Did you really think WE weren’t interested in your little game, princess?

MEPHISTO: Getting the holier-than-thous to burn DC was a neat trick, but the boss man can’t be having you bribing his people out from under him. Not to mention getting loose.

17.4

Mephisto looking down at Eva and Hitler. Something behind him is casting a giant shadow.

MEPHISTO: Oh hey, here he comes now!

17.5

A giant arm, wearing Fury’s classic S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform, reaches down at the maze.

Page 18.

18.1

Establishing shot of Washington DC, now at sunset. The fighting has stopped. The helicarrier is above the city, and the ground looks covered in S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

18.2

Ground level of the mall. Strange is casually sitting on a bench, while S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents patrol in the background.

STRANGE: It’s a pity all the aggressors have passed on once again. I should like to know if there was any way I could save them.

18.3

Johnson looks down at Strange, holding up a piece of paper.

JOHNSON: But you do know SOMETHING about what all this was, right?

JOHNSON: Something that’ll explain WHY you poofed him two hundred miles away and leveled his city?

JOHNSON: Something worth this consultant fee?

18.4

Strange leans his head back and closes his eyes.

STRANGE: Nope.

STRANGE: Haven’t the foggiest.

STRANGE: But I did send a mutual friend on the case.

Page 19.

19.1

Fury sits under a small bridge, next to the canal Eva fell into. He’s ignoring a body-sized fire next to him.

19.2

Fury Jr. walks up behind Fury.

FURY JR.: So.

19.3

Fury looks straight ahead, ignoring Fury Jr.

FURY JR.: You gonna tell me what the f*** that was?

19.4

Juniper stands in front of Fury.

FURY JR.: Hey!

JUNIPER: You know I didn’t have a choice, Sarge.

FURY: You listening to me?

19.5

Fury’s mouth.

FURY: Junior…

Page 20.

20.1

Fury stands up, looking away from both of them.

FURY: I just wanna say I’ve been there. Where you are right now.

FURY: And when I see you where I was… Hell, part of me is proud, part of me wishes I never put you in that position.

20.2

Fury’s face, as Juniper and Fury Jr. stand behind him.

FURY: Point is, after all I’ve seen, I just don’t wanna be that person anymore.

20.3

Same shot. Juniper starts fading away, but Fury Jr. just gets frustrated.

JUNIPER: I understand.

FURY JR.: I don’t give a damn what you want!

20.4

Fury Jr.

FURY JR.: What I’ve seen is that I’m good at this, and I wanna keep doing good like this!

20.5

POV of Fury Jr. looking at Fury’s turned back.

FURY JR.: Now are you gonna tell me what I need to do my job?

20.6

Fury’s face, smiling.

FURY: Well…

FURY: Wanna hear an old man ramble?

EVA: Ohhhhh, Adolf…

Same shot.

EVA: …I wasn’t fooling.

11.2

Same shot. Eva continues up the steps.

???: I dunno, maybe they’ll never bring me back! You ever think of that?

???: Like they really needed one more gun up there with all the capes! ‘Least we can try this for a while!

11.3

Same shot. Just as Eva reaches the top of the steps, Fury Jr. walks into frame, wearing a three piece suit and carrying a briefcase as he talks on his cell phone.

FURY JR.: Today’s fine! President needs the reports today, I already met the guy, it’s all cool!

FURY JR.: I don’t need to be there! We talked two, maybe three times! Meant nothing!

FURY: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Page 14.

14.1

FURY: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

14.2

Fury pulls his right arm out of the doorway, flinging two lizard-men in Nazi uniforms (one short and fat, one tall and thin) several feet in front of him, into a group of american cadets.

Fury looks around the base.

JUNIPER: So, what’d you get on the enemy?

FURY: Ah, y’know. Today America, tomorrow the world, all that crap.

FURY: Said they got someone in DC set up for the line of succession.

15.3

Fury’s face.

FURY: Head a the operation is…

Flashback to Hitler groveling at the end of issue 3.

HITLER: This wasn’t my plan!

15.5

Flashback to Hitler catching Eva and Fury in bed in issue 2. This time at an angle so the nightstand with Fury’s gun is in the foreground, as Eva moves towards it.

HITLER: M-my dear, our forces are nearly--

15.6

Same as 15.3. A soldier is now saluting in the background.

SOLDIER: SIR!

Page 16.

16.1

Juniper turns to the soldier, while Fury continues staring into the distance.

JUNIPER: At ease.

SOLDIER: Sir, the assets are all wiped, and the doorway’s set to Earth. Mission’s a go on your command.

16.2

Juniper pats Fury on the shoulder.

JUNIPER: Sarge, what were you saying about the enemy?

FURY: …I’ll get back t’ ya.

16.3

Fury turns and runs at the doorway, throwing the cigar over his shoulder.

FURY: Gotta see a lady about a smoking gun.

JUNIPER: Wait, SARGE, WAIT!

16.4

Fury shoves aside a soldier standing between him and the doorway.

JUNIPER: STOP HIM!

16.5

Fury jumps into the doorway.

JUNIPER: HIS MIND WASN’T WI--

Page 17.

17.1

The helicarrier flying on a blue sky.

17.2

The deck of the helicarrier. (There’s no wind, because shut up.) There’s a huge funereal set up, with countless S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and superheroes standing in front of an expensive-looking wooden coffin. There’s a mural of Fury next to it, with a pair of American flags on gold poles to each side.

17.3

Captain America, Black Widow and Dum Dum Dugan stand together with their heads bowed in mourning.

17.4

Doctor Strange, Iron Fist and Luke Cage stand together. Danny is trying really hard to ignore Strange staring at him, while Luke is openly annoyed.

17.5

Coulson whispers in Maria Hill’s ear.

COULSON: Yeah, Fury’s not coming.

17.6

Close up on Fury’s coffin.

Page 18.

18.1

Same as 17.6, but Fury’s arm, in the classic S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform, punches out through the top of the coffin. There are several splinters jabbing into the sides of his arm.

SFX: CRAK

18.2

Fury stands in front of the open coffin, looking at the reader. He’s back to his classic middle age, with a bowie knife randomly clenched between his teeth.

FURY: GRRRRRRR

18.3

Cap, Widow and Dum Dum’s shocked reactions.

18.4

Iron Fist and Cage’s shocked reactions. Strange just looks mildly confused.

18.5

Hill and Coulson’s shocked reactions.

COULSON: …You put a knife in his coffin?

HILL: …It was in his will.

Page 19.

19.1

Hill runs up to Fury while he rips the sleeves off his shirt.

FURY (small text): Hn. New memories.

HILL: SIR!

HILL: WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?

19.2

Fury casually sheaths his knife, ignoring his bleeding arm.

FURY: Hm… Knew the gun I swiped from the kid was loaded with som’a those nanotech healing bullets.

FURY: My Infinity Formula withdrawal slowed the effects some, but they finally figured how to replicate the formula while fixing my head, an’ now I’m good as new.

19.3

Hill just stares blankly at him.

HILL: That…

HILL: …WHAT?

HILL: NONE OF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE!

19.4

Strange approaches Hill while Fury catches up with other attendees in the background.

STRANGE: Hello Mrs. Johnson.

HILL: Oh God.

STRANGE: If it makes you feel any better, he IS telling the truth.

HILL: BUT THAT’S. NOT. POSSIBLE.

STRANGE: Well, I didn’t say it was always the truth.

HILL: …WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE?

19.5

Strange twirls his mustache.

STRANGE: Why, I was looking into all the commotion with those mystically altered terrorist. And it seems our Nicholas here is giving off a similar aura to them.

Page 20.

20.1

Strange walks toward Fury.

HILL: You’re saying he can’t be trusted?

STRANGE: You actually TRUSTED him?

STRANGE: No matter, my point is I want to see where he’s going with this.

20.2

Fury rips the American flag off of one of the nearby poles, while Strange approaches.

FURY: HEY COPPERFIELD!

FURY: HOW MANY FOLKS CAN YA TELEPORT, AN’ HOW FAR?

STRANGE: Why, in mere moments I could transport this entire procession to realms of glistening monoliths and unfathomable shadows, far removed from our reality since eras man can only dream of!

20.3

Fury uses his teeth to tie the american flag around his bloody arm as a tourniquet. All the other heroes and agents stand behind him.

FURY: Perfect.

FURY: We’re goin’ to DC.

NEXT TIME: THE THAWED WAR

STRANGE TALES #3 - Starring You-Won't-Believe-Who! (Script)

PREVIOUSLY: VEILED VACATIONINGS - PENNY OFF A DEAD MAN'S EYE

AS THE CLOCK STRUCK THIRTEEN - Rated M

1.1

Limbo. Overhead view of a pitch black room, lit only by a spotlight on a large, circular conference table, with the Earth carved onto its surface. Thirteen figures sit around it.

HITLER: Mein friends, I realize the time has been brief since we last convened.

1.2

Hitler sits at the table, still in his full regalia, while his large black dog sits upright by his side.”

CAPTION: HITLER, A. - Prime Necroführer

HITLER: But I have only just learned of a matter of grave importance to we…

1.3

Along the table, a Kingpin-sized, black robed Qin Shi Huang stands up angrily. Next to him, Thutmose III, in a purple Pharoah’s headdress and insectoid armor, crosses his arms in equal frustration.

HITLER: THE THIRTEEN FIENDS!

CAPTION: SHI HUANG, Q. - Chief of State

QIN SHI HUANG: Bah! We all know you merely toy with use!

QIN SHI HUANG: I ask you once more, my fellow chancellors, by what right does our Führer claim leadership?

CAPTION: THUTMOSE (III) - Chief of Employment

THUTMOSE III: Here here! Do we truly follow a man too timid to face down his own--

1.4

Further along, Napoleon stands on his seat. He’s a midget, wearing his famous bicorne hat with a modern three piece suit, and his right hand has been replaced with a sword. To his right, Francisco Pizarro sits in solid gold armor, wrapped with traditional Peruvian clothing. To Napoleon’s left, Mahmud of Ganzi is wearing a leather chest harness, along with a turban and domino mask.

CAPTION: BONAPARTE, N. - Chief Armed Forces Advisor

NAPOLEON: You fools! It is only through Herr Adolf’s proactivity that we’ve come to regain what power we now have!

NAPOLEON: If anyone is in question, surely you torpid heritors are it!

CAPTION: PIZARRO, F. - Chief of Treasury

PIZARRO: I find myself concurring.

CAPTION: MAHMUD (Of Ganzi) - Chief of State

MAHMUD: As do I.

1.5

Genghis Khan, who has Hulk-like proportions under a giant nehru jacket, sits next to Attila the Hun, in a cape and a Bulleteer-style helmet. Both men are incredibly calm.

CAPTION: KHAN, G. - Chief of Party Affairs

KHAN: ORDER!

KHAN: THE ISSUE IS TABLED AS OF THIS INSTANT!

CAPTION: Attila (The Hun) - Chief of Internal Security

ATTILA: Pshaw. Such barbarians.

1.6

Alexander the Great, Charles the Great, Ahsoka the Great, Cyrus the Great, and Timur the Great all sit in matching spandex, with giant “>”s on their chests.

CAPTION: ALEXANDER (The Great) - Chief of Foreign Affairs

ALEXANDER: If you’ll all be calm, I’m quite curious as to what it is our führer has brought to the table.

CAPTION: CHARLES (The Great) - Chief of Housing

CAPTION: AHSOKA (The Great) - Chief of Public Relations

CAPTION: CYRUS (The Great) - Chief Attorney

CAPTION: TIMUR (The Great) - Chief of Additional Resources

Page 2.

2.1

Hitler begins to stand.

HITLER: As I was saying, I’ve only just learned of a grievous breach in our security.

2.2

Hitler gestures at the pitch black room behind him.

HITLER: It would seem there’s an assassin from the above within our ranks.

HITLER: An assassin bearing a striking resemblance to one…

2.3

Another spotlight comes on, directly above Fury. His hands are tied behind his back as he dangles upside down, his ankles tied to a rope from the ceiling. He’s shirtless (again) but someone had the good sense to give him some pants.

SFX: CHOOM

HITLER: NICHOLAS JOSEPH FURY!

Page 3.

3.1

Mahmud raises a monacle over his domino mask.

MAHMUD: Oh my.

MAHMUD: This seems like a bit of a gaffe, eh dear pharaoh?

3.2

Thutmose III stands up, pointing his finger across the table.

THUTMOSE III: SLANDER! I merely selected which agents to resurrect! ‘Twas in the tadpole’s hands to see it through!

3.3

Hitler smiles nervously.

HITLER: Mein friends! Please! What is important is our retailia--

NAPOLEON: DO NOT TEST ME, MON AMI!

3.4

Close up on Fury, with the biggest grin on his face.

HITLER: GENTLEMEN, SURELY THIS TAKES PRECEDENCE!

Page 4.

4.1

Earth. Fury Jr. stands in the aquabase, talking to a hologram of Director Johnson. Several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents scope the place in the background, while Strange (still in the bathrobe) approaches.

JOHNSON: The NYPD’s still holding onto the car and the body!

FURY JR.: Ma’am, I understand there were--

STRANGE: MS. HILL!

4.2

Fury Jr. turns to look at Strange. Johnson glares at him.

JOHNSON: I am not. Maria. Hill.

JOHNSON: I’m Director Daisy Johnson.

JOHNSON: We’ve had this conversation four times now.

STRANGE: Well, you’ll do too!

4.3

Strange puts his hand on the shoulder of the extraordinarily pissed Fury Jr.

STRANGE: I just wanted you to realize that whatever reservations you may have about this man’s actions, today he has far exceeded both his duties and your nepotism!

STRANGE: Why, thanks to his persistence, I believe I may have stumbled upon a mystery of nigh-universal implications!

4.4

Johnson continues glaring.

JOHNSON: Fine.

JOHNSON: But the opinion of a half-naked civilian aside, this is still more than enough cause for a dishon--

Page 5.

5.1

Strange & Fury Jr. looking at the hologram. Strange’s eyes are glowing.

JOHNSON: …disregarding procedure in light of this discovery.

5.2

Same shot. Fury Jr. turns in surprise to look at Strange, but Strange’s eyes have returned to normal.

JOHNSON: Fury, you’ve earned one more chance.

5.3

Same shot. Strange smiles while Fury Jr. facepalms.

JOHNSON: Doctor, it seems we might be out of our depth on this one. Would you mind staying on this case as a consultant?

FURY JR. (small text): Oh lord.

5.4

Fury Jr. walks away from Strange and the hologram.

STRANGE: Oh, I’d be delighted! Would you excuse me?

5.5

Strange follows Fury Jr.

STRANGE: Something the matter?

5.6

Fury Jr. continues walking, not making eye contact with Strange.

FURY JR.: No, I’m fine.

FURY JR.: Just not sure if this is where I want to be, is all.

Page 6.

6.1

Strange looks at Fury Jr. curiously.

STRANGE: Under the Hudson?

FURY JR.: Dealing with some brand new magic/super-science/alien bulls**t every week for the rest of my life!

FURY JR.: I went millitary ‘cause I didn’t know where to go in life. Same for when I joined S.H.I.E.L.D.

6.2

Strange stops as Fury Jr. continues towards an elevator.

FURY JR.: I never signed up for buddy cop bulls*** with goddamn Gandalf! I… I dunno.

FURY JR.: Maybe I should’ve looked into a desk job.

6.3

Same shot. Fury Jr. gets in the elevator.

6.4

Same shot. The elevator doors close.

STRANGE: I COULD MAKE HER GIVE YOU ONE OF THOSE INSTEAD!

Page 7.

7.1

Limbo. Genghis Khan walks out the door of the pitch black room.

KHAN: All things considered, I think that went rather smoothly.

7.2

Hitler and his dog stand next to the still-dangling Fury.

HITLER (small text): …Hm, yes.

FURY: Real class act ya got here, Adolf.

7.3

Hitler glares at Fury.

HITLER: Oh, some conflict is inevitable from this many great minds in close proximity.

HITLER: A necessary evil, towards my ultimate ends.

FURY: Yeah, was meainin’ to ask… It’s not exactly an Aryan lineup.

7.4

Hitler laughs.

HITLER: What?

HITLER: Oh, that’s hardly a priority these days, is it?

Page 8.

8.1

Hitler paces around Fury.

HITLER: No, no no no no no!

HITLER: Tell me, Nicholas. Have you ever heard of a Soviet mathematician by the name of Tsiolkovsky?

FURY: Never penned you for much of a fan of the ruskies.

FURY: Or math.

FURY: Hell, they both came back to bite ya.

8.2

Hitler pets his dog.

HITLER: Yes, well, communist leanings aside, the man was quite the visionary. Pity his death didn’t bring him down here, I would so love a chat.

HITLER (small text): Good girl!

HITLER: Particularly, on his beliefs that humanity would one day unite in their combined desire to conquer the stars!

8.3

Hitler looks back to Fury.

HITLER: Does it not sound even more plausible now? I believe you too have heard about these… Skrulls, was it?

HITLER: Surely, nothing they could achieve is beyond us?

8.4

Fury’s face, still smiling.

FURY: Here we go.

HITLER: By resurrecting my agents into the proper places at the proper times, I can assassinate any world leader! Sway any election! Infiltrate any government!

HITLER: Why, I already have an agent within your president’s line of succession.

8.5

Hitler has his back turned to Fury. His dog is nowhere to be seen.

HITLER: Of course, one cannot move a soul without paying the afterlife back. And with interest.

HITLER: Building enough credit with these forces to control the world… Let alone, the universe… It will take some time.

Page 9.

9.1

Hitler turns to face Fury.

HITLER: But I have all the time in the world, here!

9.2

Hitler unsheathes his sword.

9.3

Front view of Hitler swinging the sword at Fury.

HITLER: DO THE FORCES OF GOD TRULY THINK YOU’RE ENOUGH TO STOP ME?!

Page 10.

10.1

Fury hits the floor hard, the rope around his ankles precisely cut. His arms are still tied behind his back.

SFX: THUD

FURY: AGGHH

10.2

Hitler walks towards the still open door, while Fury pulls his wrists around under his legs.

HITLER: Of course, that trinket wouldn’t do much permanent damage to you here.

HITLER: Thankfully, I took the time to domesticate some of the local wildlife.

10.3

Fury stands in the spotlight, his wrists now in front, though still tied.

HITLER: They’ve been called by many names. Baghests, Cerberuses, Hellhounds.

HITLER: They’re said to have no stomachs. Just infinite mouths within mouths.

HITLER: You don’t have to die, to be chewed for eternity.

10.4

Hitler stands silhouetted in the doorway.

HITLER: When you entered my day, you were inside my bitch.

HITLER: Seems only fitting you should leave it inside another.

10.5

All black.

SFX: CHOOM.

Page 11.

11.1

Fury looks around, surrounded by blackness.

SFX: grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

11.2

Fury continues looking, crouched slightly.

SFX: rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

11.3

Fury continues looking. The hellhound’s growling jaw is visible behind him.

SFX: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

11.4

The hound’s mouth lunges at Fury, open impossibly wide, with several smaller dog jaws growing out the sides of it. Fury lunges out of the way, but it scratches his ribs.

SFX: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAF

FURY: AAAG

11.5

Fury lies on his back watching the mouth approach him.

SFX: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAF

Page 12.

12.1

Fury grabs the hound with both hands directly under the throat, while its mouth snaps in face. The hound’s outline is somewhat more visible now. It’s paws are scratching up Fury’s chest.

SFX: RRRRRRAAAAAAFFFFRRRRRRAAAAAAFFFFRRRRRRAAAAAAFFFF

12.2

Fury slams the hound in the chest with both his knees, flipping it in the air.

SFX: RRRRRRRAAAAAAAAF

12.3

The hound is now flipped on it’s back, with it’s head resting upside down on Fury’s chest. Fury’s tied wrists are on top of the hound’s throat, his arms wrapped around it.

SFX: RRRRRRRAAAAAAAAFRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAF

12.4

Fury’s face. He’s grating his teeth.

SFX: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Page 13.

13.1

A demon in a janitor’s uniform stands in a hallway, looking into the open door to the pitch black room.

CAPTION: Twelve minutes later.

DEMON JANITOR: Hello?

13.2

Fury rams the janitor with his shoulder, slamming him into a wall.

FURY: GNH

SFX: THUNK

13.3

Fury turns a corner in the hallway. There’s a men’s room visible further down the hall he’s turning onto.

13.4

Same shot. Cyrus the Great and Napoleon are coming up the hall. Fury doubles back, taking cover behind the corner.

NAPOLEON: Black and Blue’s where it went to s***!

13.5

Same shot. The two dictators walk into the men’s room, Napoleon pontificating with his sword-hand. They haven’t noticed Fury.

CYRUS: I dunno, Fool to Cry came out alright.

NAPOLEON: Ohhhh, “Fool to Cry” he says!

13.6

Close up on Fury’s confused face.

NAPOLEON: I swear on high, when Ronnie Wood gets down here…

Page 14.

14.1

Hitler stands in a room full of assorted henchmen and flashing lights and maps on screens. Something like the control room from The Prisoner.

HITLER (small text): Come onnnn…

HITLER (small text): Do you have to cut it this close?

14.2

Hitler turns, wide eyed.

FURY: Hey fritz!

14.3

Fury stands in the doorway. His wrists are untied, but he’s covered in noticeably more blood than on the last page. He’s also holding Napoleon’s sword-hand.

FURY: The dog left you a present!

Page 15.

15.1

Hitler stumbles back slightly.

HITLER: Y-you? YOU!?

15.2

Fury runs at Hitler, sword swinging.

FURY: Y’know, when I took this job--

15.3

Hitler parries with his own sword.

SFX: CLANK

15.4

Fury ducks under a retaliatory swing from Hitler.

FURY: When I took it, I was afraid!

Page 16.

16.1

Fury slashes Hitler’s armor, only scratching it.

FURY: TERRIFIED!

16.2

Fury dodges another slash from Hitler.

16.3

Fury and Hitler’s swords lock against each other.

FURY: Not of the death!

16.4

Fury shoves hitler back.

FURY: Of doing the SAME cloak and dagger bulls*** for the rest of damn eternity!

16.5

Hitler, terrified, looking to his henchmen. They’re all backing away.

FURY: Then you showed up!

Page 17.

17.1

Fury slashes at Hitler from overhead. Hitler parries.

FURY: The guy who got me pissed enough to serve!

17.2

Fury knocks Hitler’s sword out of his hand.

SFX: CLANK

17.3

Fury puts his sword to Hitler’s throat.

FURY: Now, I’ve put up with a lot since then. But you…

FURY: Nice thing ‘bout you, is…

17.4

Fury’s face, smiling.

FURY: You were never subtle.

Page 18.

18.1

Hitler puts his hands up.

HITLER: B-b-but I…

18.2

Hitler gestures towards all the computers.

HITLER: You must understand, this was never me!

HITLER: This wasn’t my plan! I only--

18.3

Fury smirks.

FURY: What, you were following orders?

18.4

Same shot.

SFK: CLANK

19.2

Fury starts to fall over. There’s a gunshot wound in his back.

19.3

Fury’s face as he hits the ground. Dead.

SFX: THUD

19.4

Same shot. Fury’s body turns to dust, leaving the eyepatch on top.

Hitler’s face, still terrified.

Fury Jr. and Daisy Johnson sit in her office.

1.2

Johnson looks down at her desk.

1.3

Fury Jr.’s gun (the one Fury took) is on the desk.

1.4

Johnson looks back up at Fury Jr.

JOHNSON: You’re going to take a leave from active duty.

Page 2

FURY JR.: That’s…

FURY JR.: Yes ma’am.

Same shot.

2.3

Same shot. Fury Jr. starts standing up.

2.4

Same shot. Fury Jr. sits back down.

FURY JR.: …Any idea why he did it?

2.5

Johnson.

JOHNSON: He ever tell you about the Infinity Formula?

Page 3.

Over the shoulder view of Fury Jr. looking at Johnson.

FURY JR.: The thing keeping him alive? He said he was running low.

JOHNSON: As it turns out, yesterday was his last day.

JOHNSON: The bo-- He had already aged significantly when we found him.

3.2

Fury JR.

FURY JR.: He seemed fine when I debriefed him. Enough to catch me off guard.

JOHNSON: He’d been holding this back for a long time. He clearly knew it was coming, and when it did it was hard and fast.

JOHNSON: We’d tapped the room for security. By the end of it, he was just rambling about senility and Doctor Strange.

JOHNSON: It’s no wonder he wanted to be alone for it.

3.3

Johnson closes her eyes.

FURY JR.: Any leads on the HYDRA cadavers?

JOHNSON: All came up dry.

JOHNSON: Like I said, that’s not your problem anymore. For the moment, go take some personal time…

3.4

All black.

CAPTION: JOHNSON: “…And hope the old man’s in a better place.”

Page 4.

4.1

Fury, still looking older, stands in a pitch black room.

4.2

Fury looks around the room, seeing he’s in a long dark tunnel with a light a good distance away, at the end of it (of course). Though notably, the tunnel is completely round, and there appears to be someone standing silhouetted at the circular end of the tunnel.

4.3

Zoom in to the end of the tunnel, for a better view of the person standing in the light. It’s a woman, dark haired and in a long open-backed dress. She’s turning to face the reader, smiling playfully.

4.4

Fury, now only a few feet away, approaches the woman, who still seems open to him.

4.5

Fury wraps his arms around the woman and kisses her, with so much force that the two of them are beginning to tip out the end of the tunnel.

Page 5.

5.1

Zoom out to show a micro-sized Fury & the mystery woman (still making out) falling out of the tunnel, which turns out to be the barrel of the gun Fury shot himself with. The gun is levitating in a fairly run down room.

5.2

Overhead view of Fury and the woman as they continue making out in freefall, with Fury on top. Miles below them is a giant, dirty mattress in the same run down apartment room.

5.3

Close up on Fury & the woman’s faces as they kiss, eyes closed.

5.4

Fury’s face as he finally comes up for air, opening his eye in shock.

5.5

Another overhead view as we see the woman, with Fury’s arm’s still holding her, has become Death, skeletal and all. Her hand is gently caressing Fury’s cheek. Below them, the giant dirty mattress is much closer.

Page 6.

6.1

Fury, now normal sized and alone (but still damn old), lands face first on the infectious mattress.

SFX: THUMP

FURY: AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGggggggggg--

6.2

Zoom out, showing Fury’s in a tiny, low-rent apartment, roughly the same size as his quarters on the helicarrier. It’s pretty much just the mattress and the door.

FURY: --gggggggggggghhhhhhhhhnnnn--

6.3

Zoom out even further, now out the apartment window, showing the decrepit brickwork of the building.

FURY: --goddammitallta--

6.4

Zoom out the furthest, giving a full establishing shot of the apartment building, the street it’s on, and the generic city sprawling off into the distance. The whole urban setting has a just slightly desaturated look to it; not quite bleak, but mildly unpleasant.

CAPTION: HELL. THE FIRST CIRCLE. A.K.A LIMBO.

Page 7.

7.1

Back inside the apartment. Fury pushes up off the bed as there’s a knock at the door.

SFX: KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

FURY: Who in God’s name are you?

7.3

Fury looking at the door, frustrated, as he pulls out a cigarette.

FURY: My…

FURY (small text): …No. Dammit, no.

7.4

Back view of the contact, now standing in the apartment. He’s wearing a stereotypical beige trench coat and fedora.

???: Jeez, Nicky. Long-time-no-see. Really let yourself go, huh?

Page 8.

8.1

We see the contact is actually just Mephisto, awkwardly wearing the lame spy costume, sunglasses and all. Fury lights the cigarette.

FURY: Speak for yourself, ‘Stopheles.

MEPHISTO: Hey-hey-hey-hey-hey!

MEPHISTO: Not my fault!

8.2

Mephisto takes off his hat.

MEPHISTO: With the Hells goin’ under new management*, some’a us been finding work a little hard to come by. Gotta live off side-jobs like this one.

EDITOR’S NOTE: *See X-Factor #250-#256 for the details! Or, y’know, just see this panel and take our word for it. -International Man of Mystery, Jose.

8.3

Mephisto throws the hat over his shoulder with one hand, while reaching into his coat with the other.

MEPHISTO: ‘Sides, half a’what you’re seeing here isn’t even the real deal. Just that human brain trying to rationalize it all.

MEPHISTO: Case in point…

8.4

Close up on a silenced, but otherwise ordinary handgun in Mephisto’s outstretched palm.

MEPHISTO: This’s here’s one of the best weapons you’ll find ‘round these parts.

MEPHISTO: Forged from a horn of the one true Minotaur, bound in eldritch magicks as old and dark as that which lies beyond the farthest stars.

MEPHISTO: This baby won’t kill a man, since… Y’know.

MEPHISTO: But it’ll shove his soul right off the edge. Leave ‘im to fend for himself in the bottom circle of Hell. Make ‘im wish on everything he’d been a good boy and stayed in the circle where we first put ‘im.

Page 9.

9.1

Fury holds up the gun while Mephisto glares.

FURY: So it’s not a gun.

FURY: It’s just a gun-shaped object I point and click at the bad guys to make ‘em go away?

Same shot.

9.3

Same shot.

9.4

Same shot.

MEPHISTO: …Eldritch, minotaur…

MEPHISTO: Shut the f**k up.

9.5

Mephisto points to a street map.

MEPHISTO: Now, the leader of this little band of trouble makers lives up in the penthouse of the Ffohlessah Plaza, here at the corner of Reyog and Ydrah.

FURY: Does this leader have a name?

Mephisto crumples the map up.

MEPHISTO: Your buddies didn’t pay me THAT much.

FURY: That much what?

MEPHISTO: Heh. You’re adorable.

Page 10.

Back on Earth. Fury Jr.’s hand rings a doorbell on a large wooden door, in the middle of the night.

CAPTION: MEPHISTO: “Come on, get your feet wet for yourself! It’ll be fun!”

10.2

A baggy-eyed Stephen Strange, wearing nothing but a bathrobe, answers the door.

STRANGE: Can I help you?

10.3

Fury Jr. in all-black civies, holding up his S.H.I.E.L.D. ID.

FURY JR.: Hi, I’m Nick Fury, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

10.4

Strange stares blankly at Fury Jr.

10.5

Same shot.

STRANGE: …Are you quite sure?

10.6

Fury Jr. gets slightly annoyed.

FURY JR.: Right, I guess you met the other guy.

FURY JR.: Long story short, I’m his son.

10.7

Same shot of Strange just staring.

10.8

Same shot.

Strange: …I still have so many questions.

Page 11.

11.1

Fury Jr. turns away, while Strange looks at the ground.

FURY Jr: Look… The old man passed a few hours ago.

STRANGE: Oh… I’m um…

STRANGE: Well, I can certainly empathize with your--

11.2

Fury Jr. points at a convertible parked in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum, with an incredibly conspicuous body bag propped up in the front passenger seat.

FURY JR.: Point is, I’m going out on a limb here, but I was wondering if you could help me with--

STRANGE: OH DEAR GOD.

11.3

Strange grabs Fury Jr. by the shoulders, screaming in his face.

STRANGE: By Agamotto’s mane, child! Have you any idea the ravenous forces with which necromancy plays?

STRANGE: Why, when my dear Wong was raised from the grave, the simulacra nearly--*

Fury Jr. breaks away from Strange.

FURY JR.: THAT’S NOT THE OLD MAN.

FURY JR.: But I’m pretty sure he’s tied to his death somehow.

FURY JR.: The autopsy didn’t bring anything up, but I thought maybe you could offer some insight?

11.5

Strange.

STRANGE: So because S.H.I.E.L.D. is unable to do their jobs, they expect me to use the full power of the Vishanti to complete their paperwork?

Page 12.

12.1

Fury Jr. looking at Strange.

FURY JR.: Actually, this is just me.

FURY JR.: I’ve got until Hill finds my requisition for the corpse and the hovercar before I’m court-martialed, our god knows what else.

12.2

Same shot.

12.3

Same shot. Strange shrugs as he steps forward.

STRANGE: Well, if it’ll annoy the Hill woman.

STRANGE: What am I looking for precisely?

12.4

Inside view from the body bag as Strange unzips it.

FURY JR.: Hell… Try the cause of death?

STRANGE: Hmmmmmm…

12.5

Strange, still robed, stands next to the convertible, waving his hands all over the body bag while Fury Jr. stands watch.

STRANGE: Seems as though it were a simple heart failure. Though I suppose he’s a bit young for it…

FURY JR.: But supposedly it was spontaneous. Moment he was captured, like a cyanide pill.

Page 13.

13.1

Strange’s nostrils flare as he looks toward the unzipped section of the bag.

STRANGE: No, as far as I can tell, this is an extremely ordinary…

STRANGE: …Hm.

13.2

Strange shoves his head inside the body bag.

STRANGE: Why now that I think of it…

FURY Jr.: Doctor?

13.3

Fury Jr. digs through his pockets for his ID as a middle aged woman walks her dog by. The dog smiles and wags it’s tail towards Strange. Strange meanwhile continues rummaging his head around in the body bag, his private parts on the verge of sticking out his robe.

STRANGE: DEMIURGE’S WHEEL, THIS DEAD MAN IS SO ORDINARY AS TO BE EXTRAORDINARY!

FURY JR.: Ma’am, I am a government official, I assure you, there’s no need to--

13.4

Strange pats his hand on Fury Jr.’s shoulder, while Fury Jr. continues looking at the woman.

STRANGE: The sheer amount of otherworldly forces most individuals encounter in their lifetimes without realizing it should leave them with SOME minute markers of their spiritual history.

FURY JR.: This man is a licensed medical professional…

STRANGE: But this poor fellow was SO unmarked… SO statistically impossible, it’s almost as though the universe itself were using that to mask him.

13.5

The woman looks between Strange and Fury Jr.

FURY JR.: So they were definitely hiding something… You think there’s a chance of mind-control?

STRANGE: I’ve never quite seen anything that fits this description, but it’s entirely possible.

FURY JR.: Can you use that to… “Sense” anyone else who fits this description?

Page 14.

14.1

Strange looks at the city skyline.

STRANGE: That’s the odder thing.

STRANGE: It seems as though nearly half this city were under the same influence!

14.2

Strange looks down at the dog.

STRANGE: Although…

STRANGE: I am detecting a great number of recent signatures, clustered along the bottom of the Hudson river.

14.3

Fury Jr. starts climbing in the driver’s seat of the convertible. Strange holds onto his arm, and the woman still stares in the background.

FURY JR.: Can you give me directions?

STRANGE: No need!

14.4

Same shot, but Strange and Fury Jr. are gone.

14.6

Same shot, the woman starts casually walking away.

15.1

Back to Limbo. Establishing shot of the Ffohlessah Plaza, a very blocky, Stalinist structure, though fairly tall. Humans and demons can be seen casually walking the streets in front of it.

15.2

Back to Earth. We see a large metallic aquabase with A.I.M. written on it for no reason, under the murky Hudson waters.

15.3

Limbo. Inside the Ffohlessah Plaza, which takes on a 1930s hotel look. A Human and a Demon, both in bellhop uniforms, come in through a fire exit, the Demon dropping a cigarette behind him. They appear to be talking, despite the lack of dialogue.

15.4

Earth. Inside the aquabase. A large group of people, some in S.H.I.E.L.D. uniforms, some in HYDRA, some in A.I.M., some in civies, silently move several crates around the place, extremely professionally.

15.5

Limbo. Fury enters through the still open fire exit, silently grabbing the Demon Bellhop in a sleeper hold without the Human Bellhop noticing.

15.6

Earth. Fury Jr. and Strange appear in the middle of the room, in a puff of bright multi-colored smoke, attracting everyone’s attention. Strange is still in the bathrobe.

15.7

Limbo. The Human Bellhop, now unconscious, lays at Fury’s feet.

15.8

Earth. As everyone else in the room raises their guns, Strange sends out a magical shockwave and Fury Jr. ducks.

Page 16.

16.1

Limbo. Fury presses the button on a nearby elevator, his gun raised.

16.2

Earth. Fury Jr. picks up a machine gun off a nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, unconscious from Strange’s attack.

16.3

Limbo. Fury points his gun inside the elevator, at a terrified young elevator operator.

16.4

Earth. More seemingly random enemies run into the room. Fury Jr. unleashes on one door, while Strange casts magic at another.

16.5

Limbo. The elevator operator slowly reaches for an icepick tucked in the back of his pants.

16.6

Earth. Strange gets grazed by a bullet to the leg.

16.7

Limbo. The elevator operator lunges at Fury with the icepick, just as Fury shoots him in the face.

16.8

Earth. Fury Jr. shoots the HYDRA agent that shot Strange.

Page 17.

17.1

Limbo. Fury enters the large penthouse, his gun still raised.

17.2

Earth. Fury Jr. helps Strange up.

17.3

Limbo. Fury turns his gun on a horrified woman in a nightgown. She’s 30-something, slightly round faced, with blonde hair done in a 30s-40s style. She’s wearing a wedding ring.

17.4

Earth. Fury Jr. looks at a nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, only wounded in the shoulder, still alive.

17.5

Limbo. The woman turns to run, but Fury is suddenly grabbing her arm. Her face turns to shock.

17.6

Earth. The S.H.I.E.L.D. agent spontaneously drops dead.

17.7

Limbo. Fury pulls the woman to him. Her expression changes again, now to a coy smile.

17.8

Earth. Fury Jr. looks around the room. Everyone but him and Strange are dead.

Page 18.

18.1

Fury Jr. kneels by one of the bodies, while Strange magics at his leg wound in the background.

STRANGE (small text): That damned flunky nearly struck my femoral artery!

FURY JR.: Dead. All of ‘em.

STRANGE: Yes, perhaps that has something to do with the bullets?

18.2

Fury Jr. glares at Strange.

FURY JR.: Same goes for the ones you hit!

STRANGE: What? I merely knocked them uncon…

STRANGE: …Damn.

18.3

Fury Jr. walks over to a nearby open crate.

FURY JR.: Well, they left evidence this time. From here we can…

18.4

Fury Jr. looks inside the crate.

FURY JR.: …Oh.

STRANGE: We didn’t spill any anthrax, perchance?

FURY JR.: No…

18.5

The crate. The Ani-Men’s uniforms are packed into it.

FURY JR.: …But it looks like these guys were stockpiling supervillain equipment.

Page 19.

19.1

Back to limbo. Fury is in bed with the woman he found. Though everything is covered by the blankets (you happy CV?). Fury’s gun is on the nightstand.

FURY: Mmmm… I take it you’re in something of an open relationship?

19.2

The woman turns to look at Fury.

WOMAN: Oh, my husband would be outraged.

WOMAN: But he’s been so fixated on his own tiny world lately… It seemed as though you could give me an attention I rarely receive.

19.3

Fury strokes his grey hair.

FURY: Heh.

FURY: You thought I still had it?

19.4

The woman kisses Fury on the forehead.

WOMAN: Don’t be ashamed.

WOMAN: This isn’t the first time I’ve been with an older man.

Open on an unmarked white van, parked in a grassy field at sunset.

Cut to inside the van, lit by a red lightbulb, as four men in all black put on gloves and ski masks. There are several bizarrely shaped pulp sci-fi guns crammed in around them.

1.3

View from the bottom of a grassy dune as the masked men stand at the top of it, each holding some of the strange guns. The sky behind them is mostly dark.

Fury, now cleanshaven and in a black turtleneck and slacks, stands in some cramped personal quarters, with little more than a bed and a mirror. He’s clearly frustrated.

FURY: What’d the boys put together?

10.3

Nick Fury Jr. stands across from his father, holding a knock-off iPad. He’s looking at that pad instead of Fury.

FURY JR.: Four assailants, all known Hydra agents at one time or another, all previously presumed deceased.

FURY JR.: They were all carrying non-lethal weapons, outdated HYDRA designs. Stun beam, automatic dart gun, temporal displacer…

FURY JR.: …shrink ray?

Page 11

11.1

Fury glares at Fury Jr., who still avoids eye contact.

FURY: One of ‘em used some new suicide tactic. Cleaner than cyanide. Faster.

FURY JR.: Actually, it says here he died of complications from a prior heart condition, most likely due to stress.

FURY: You’re saying I scared him to death?

11.2

Fury Jr. finally looks up.

FURY JR.: I’m saying these were idiots.

FURY JR.: In decent shape for their ages, but not good enough for a job like this.

11.3

Fury rubs his temples with his thumb and index finger.

FURY JR.: The working assumption is they went in hiding years ago. Took a few pretty guns with ‘em. Now for whatever reason they wanted back in, and figured you’d make an easy bargaining chip.

11.4

Fury Jr. glares back at Fury.

FURY: So either HYDRA’s had that location…

FURY: …Or there’s a third party sending out tips.

FURY JR.: Any way they’d know you were in a German safehouse?

FURY JR.: No, strike that, any reason WE should know why you were in a German safehouse?

11.5

Fury looks at the ceiling.

FURY: Hell, ‘smore of a vacation house. Started fixing up the place back in the Berlin Wall days.

FURY: Never got to see the islands my first time over there. Always seemed like a nice place if the day ever came.

11.6

Fury Jr. looks skeptical.

FURY JR.: That’s what you’re doing now? Retiring on the beach?

Page 12

12.1

Fury grins slightly.

FURY: Had to do it somewhere.

FURY: How ‘bout you? You sign up to handle these debriefings?

12.2

Fury Jr. turns and heads for the door.

FURY JR.: Look, Hill said you’d only talk to me or Diretor Johnson.

FURY JR: She’s coordinating damage control on the Goldbug massacre, I needed to log a few non-combat hours, and here we are.

12.3

Fury Jr. starts out the door, but Fury’s left hand pats him on the left rib, just under his holster. There are two guards visible outside the door.

FURY JR.: Catch more of those retirement Zs. We’ll tell you if--

FURY: Wait.

FURY: You sure this is where you wanna be?

FURY: What’ve you got?

14.3

Juniper talks, with a calm expression.

JUNIPER: Nick, I’m not a space monster.

JUNIPER: I’m not a robot, this isn’t a mask, I’m me.

FURY: So you’re here? Just one more face back in the land of the living?

CAPTION: JUNIPER: “And then there are those who come back here.”

CAPTION: JUNIPER: “Usually they get their memories wiped first, to hide any suspicion, information, or just unpleasant experiences. But they’re left with certain motivations. Impulses. The urge to do little favors for whoever got them out.”

CAPTION: JUNIPER: “Sometimes, if the memory implants are fast enough, they can have someone back before they even knew they were dead.”

Page 17

17.1

Back to Juniper in Fury’s room.

JUNIPER: Most of the deities on Hell’s side are just willing to sit back and take any souls they get in the crossfire. The guys with Heaven don’t like it, but they don’t have a lot of power over whatever turned the universe this way.

JUNIPER: I’m working with a group of humans up there, trying to do our part where they can’t.

17.2

Fury’s face, still in shadows.

JUNIPER: They send sleeper agents here, we send a few of our own, and to the locals it all just looks like the super-person-shenanigans of the week.

FURY: Get to the part where I give a damn.

17.3

Juniper sighing.

JUNIPER: …Look.

JUNIPER: We’ve been putting out small fires for a while now, and the budget involved…

FURY: Saint Peter takin’ cash these days?

JUNIPER: The point is, we’ve let a lot get by us. Like those HYDRA agents that attacked you.

17.4

Back to Fury, but his gun is lowered. He’s rubbing his forehead.

FURY: That-- Ngggh…

FURY: That was what exactly?

17.5

Juniper.

JUNIPER: They were resurrected to try and keep you alive for as long as possible while forcing S.H.I.E.L.D. to focus on HYDRA.

JUNIPER: Because someone in Limbo is about to try something big, and they predicted what I’m about to ask you to do.

Page 18

18.1

Juniper.

JUNIPER: I’m going to have to ask you to be our man in Hell.

JUNIPER: I’m going to have to ask you to kill yourself.

Fury, pointing his gun at Juniper again, stands up, walking towards the light switch.

FURY: HA!

FURY: So that’s what this is all about?

FURY: You boys couldn’t pop an old man, so you had to dress up like his old pal and talk ‘im into pulling the trigger for you?

18.3

Fury stands next to the door & light switch.

JUNIPER: Sarge, I know it’s a hard pill to swallow…

Fury’s face. It’s suddenly far more wrinkled.

JUNIPER: I know your Infinity Formula runs out today.

19.3

Fury looks into the mirror. In the reflection, Juniper is standing behind him.

JUNIPER: Either you spend your last hours with a bedpan and a catheter, while this whole boat watches you shrivel up.

JUNIPER: Or the mission keeps on going.

Fury sits on the bed again.

Fire erupts from the spot in the ground where the puddle was.

DORMAMMU: THE DARK DIMENSION!

DORMAMMU: IT WAS HERE ALL ALONG!

DORMAMMU: AT THE PIT OF YOUR DESPAIR!

4.4

Dormammu rises from where Stephen fell.

DORMAMMU: IN YOUR DARKEST DREAMS!

DORMAMMU: WAITING FOR ME!

Page 5

5.1

Strange holds up his fists. They’re glowing multicolor.

STRANGE: Impersonating my own guilt.

STRANGE: You’re not Dormammu.

STRANGE: Only my idea of him.

5.2

Dormammu crouches down, reaching for Strange.

STRANGE: A tired cliche.

STRANGE: A psuedo-cosmic-Satan.

STRANGE: And I’m sick of you. So as another man would say...

5.3

Dormammu’s hand closes around Strange.

STRANGE: ...THERE’S THE DOOR!

5.4

An explosion of light blows off Dormammu’s hand.

Page 6

6.1

Dormammu collapses in front of Strange, his stump cindering.

6.2

Strange walks toward Dormammu. Dormammu’s body is shrinking down to Strange’s size.

DORMAMMU: If I am not the perfect reconstruction...

6.3

Strange stands over Dormammu, who is now normal sized.

DORMAMMU: If I am not a God... if I am only you...

6.4

Dormammu’s eyes erupt with fire. The hospital collapses behind them.

DORMAMMU: THEN I CAN TEAR THE UNIVERSE DOWN!

DORMAMMU: JUST LIKE YOU!

Page 7

7.1

The grey dreamscape around them starts to shatter, and fire erupts from the cracks.

DORMAMMU: I CAN KILL US BOTH, JUST AS YOU INTENDED.

7.2

Dormammu’s face, smiling wide

DORMAMMU: I CAN BE YOUR SUICIDE.

DORMAMMU: YOUR EXIT.

7.3

Dormammu raises his arms above his head in an evil victory pose.

DORMAMMU: I CAN BEAT YOU AT YOUR OWN GAME FROM WITHIN YOUR OWN MIND!

Page 8

8.1

Strange, completely unfazed.

STRANGE: Hm. I suppose you could.

8.2

Strange begins fading away.

STRANGE: If I hadn’t tethered myself to another in-tune individual some time ago.

8.3

Dormammu looks in terror at the collapsing dimension around him. Debris forming the glowing words SORCERER SUPREME falls toward him from the sky.

8.4

Dormammu looks up.

DORMAMMU: WHAT

DORMAMMU WHO--

Iron Fist (wearing his mask again, though it’s slightly torn) and Hyperion standing in Central Park, impatiently waiting. The area is blocked off with police tape, with reporters on the other side.

9.2

Same shot, but Strange is now standing behind Iron Fist. Countless naked people are standing in the background.

SFX: pop

STRANGE: Hello, Daniel.

IRON FIST: GAH

9.3

Iron Fist babbling to Strange.

IRON FIST: WE CALLED VOODOO BUT HE’S HUNTING THE OLD ONES IN HOLLAND AND DANIEL HELLSTROM BUT HIS PAROLE OFFICER SAID HE’S STILL EVIL AND MAN-THING DOESN’T HAVE A PHONE AND MICHEAL MORBIUS SAID HE’S ONLY A SCIENTIST EVEN THOUGH HE’S ALSO A FREAKING VAMPIRE BUT THANK GOD YOU’RE OKAY

IRON FIST: ARE YOU HURT IS THERE STILL

STRANGE: Daniel.

STRANGE: I’m fine. They’re all fine. Dormammu’s dead.

9.4

Iron Fist to Strange.

IRON FIST: Really? Just like that?

STRANGE: Well. I collapsed my subconscious onto him. I’ll never be able to dream again.

Page 10

10.1

Iron Fist to Strange.

IRON FIST: Wow. Stephen, I’m so--

STRANGE: Gullible.

STRANGE: My subconscious will rebuild itself within a week.

10.2

Iron Fist to Strange. Both smiling.

Hyperion to Strange and Iron Fist.

10.4

Hyperion to Strange and Iron Fist

HYPERION: I hate both of you.

STRANGE: I know.

Page 11

11.1

Hyperion flies off.

HYPERION: Threat’s over.

HYPERION: I’m going to Holland to punch Cthulhu in the mouth.

11.2

Strange and Iron Fist looking up.

STRANGE: Charming.

IRON FIST: Yeah, he--

11.3

Central Park. Iron Fist and Strange disappear in a flash of light.

11.4

STRANGE: If I could have everyone’s attention...

Page 12

12.1

Avengers (Cap, Falcon, Hawkeye, Iron Man) gather around Strange, save for Thor who continues to play foozball in the corner.

CAP: All ears.

STRANGE: In case you didn’t notice, I broke the universe.

STRANGE: Wong’s death affected me more than I thought possible.

STRANGE: I’m sure Daniel’s had plenty of fun telling you about how I murdered a bear, stark naked, with my bare hands.

12.2

Cap.

CAP: Uh.

CAP: He didn’t say anything about that.

12.3

Strange.

STRANGE: …

12.4

Strange.

STRANGE: My anguish took on the form of an abomination that called itself Wong, which cast itself into being through a subconscious spell.

STRANGE: The false Wong believed that everything was naturally imperfect. Broken down into tiny little pieces.

12.5

Strange.

STRANGE: It attempted to correct the universe. It reconstructed Dormammu. It conquered my subconscious mind. My very nightmares turned against me.

STRANGE: But I corrected the mistake.

12.6

Strange.

STRANGE: My dreams are under reconstruction. I will never recklessly toy with reality again.

STRANGE: You don’t have to worry about another Wanda.

STRANGE: Do I make myself clear?

Page 13

13.1

Cap shakes Strange’s hand.

CAP: Crystal.

CAP: Welcome back, Doctor Strange.

STRANGE: It’s good to be back.

13.2

Strange and Iron Fist in the hallway outside the rec room.

IRON FIST: Awkward.

STRANGE: Hm?

IRON FIST: The bear thing. That silence was painful.

STRANGE: That was no awkward silence. I took a moment to erase their memories.

13.3

Strange walks ahead, leaving Iron Fist standing there.

IRON FIST: Um.

STRANGE: Good day, Daniel!

Page 14

14.1

Strange walks down the street, in civilian clothes.

14.2

Strange sees the troubled kid from earlier, with a bandage around his hand.

14.3

The kid is frozen in fear. Literally. There’s a faint purple aura around him as Strange approaches.

STRANGE: You deserved it, but I’m feeling charitable.

14.4

Strange stands in front of the kid.

STRANGE: Blink.

14.5

Black panel.

14.6

Strange is gone. The kid looks at his hand. He’s grown a replacement pinkie.

Sunset. Strange stands in a suburban neighborhood, outside a house on the front lawn, holding a boombox over his head.

STRANGE: So, so charitable.

15.2

Night. Strange looks behind him. Sirens glow in the distance.

STRANGE: Dammit, Amber.

15.3

Strange tosses the boombox down.

15.4

A whirlwind of money flies into the air where the boombox was, Strange vanishes into light. A note flutters, “SORRY. I’M REALLY TRYING.”

Page 16

16.1

Strange floats in the Sanctum library. His wallet hovering in front of him, glowing a dark blue.

16.2

Strange holds his hands apart. An entire tiny universe floats on one side of the room, his wallet floats on the other.

16.3

Strange looks at the universe.

STRANGE: Honestly, what was I even thinking.

16.4

The universe hovers above the library, replacing the light fixture with the tiny universe, giving off a cosmic disco effect.

STRANGE: This is far more practical.

Page 17

Old Strange hovers in a bright cloud in space, wearing a Zardoz inspired costume.

OLD STRANGE: In five.

OLD STRANGE: Four.

OLD STRANGE: Two.

OLD STRANGE: One.

17.2

Strange appears next to Old Strange.

STRANGE: So this is what it comes to.

OLD STRANGE: I remember this.

STRANGE: I suppose I will too.

OLD STRANGE: Life’s simple like that.

STRANGE: Did you ever receive Yog's payment?

17.3

Old Strange holds out his hand. There’s a chicken egg in the palm.

OLD STRANGE: Just last week.

OLD STRANGE: 40 million evil souls. They rest in the palm of my hand.

STRANGE: That’s a chicken egg.

OLD STRANGE: An unspeakably evil chicken egg.

17.4

Strange looks at Old Strange.

STRANGE: Wow.

OLD STRANGE: Hm?

STRANGE: I finally know what Daniel feels like.

17.5

Old Strange looks at Strange.

OLD STRANGE: You thought reconstructing Wong was the only thing you did subconsciously.

OLD STRANGE: But who’s to say you couldn’t also have planned a near-infinitely long odyssey to teach yourself some humility?

17.6

Strange.

STRANGE: Why in Bythos’ name would I of all people need to learn--

OLD STRANGE: …

STRANGE: …

STRANGE: I hate you.

OLD STRANGE: The lesson is a success.

Page 18

18.1

Old Strange.

OLD STRANGE: Remind me, why did you want 40 million unspeakably evil souls?

18.2

Strange.

STRANGE: I devised a rehabilitation formula.

STRANGE: I intended to reconstruct them.

18.3

Old Strange looking at Strange.

STRANGE: …Given some spare time.

OLD STRANGE: Your job is to heal the universe.

OLD STRANGE: Give it stitches. An ice pack. A bill.

18.4

Old Strange.

OLD STRANGE: Then lead it to the exit sign.

OLD STRANGE: Nothing more.

OLD STRANGE: Understand?

18.5

Strange vanishes. Old Strange remains.

OLD STRANGE: I remember understanding.

OLD STRANGE: All is well.

18.6

White panel.

OLD STRANGE: Time to die.

19.2

Strange looks around.

CAPTION: STRANGE: Had I only stayed a second longer...

CAPTION: STRANGE: I could have prevented it. I could have saved myself.

19.3

Strange grabs a book off the shelf.

CAPTION: STRANGE: But I didn’t.

Page 20

Strange sits in a chair, reading the book like a normal person.

CAPTION: STRANGE: And I won’t.

1.1

Strange, in his costume from his first appearance, wanders through an empty dreamscape. A grey void.

STRANGE: Who’s taken me here?

STRANGE: I am the Sorcerer Supreme.

STRANGE: Speak to me.

STRANGE: Do you need help? I’m a doc--

1.2

Strange stops in front of a black tombstone in his path. There’s scribbling on the grave.

STRANGE: I can’t read this.

STRANGE: I can read everything.

STRANGE: WHY CAN’T I READ THIS?!

1.3

The tombstone sinks into the ground and the ground underneath Strange starts to crack like glass, glowing bright fiery red.

DORMAMMU: BECAUSE YOU ARE NOTHING!

DORMAMMU: NOT EVEN HALF THE MAN YOU THINK YOU ARE!

STRANGE: NO!

1.4

Fiery hands stretch from multiple arms, dragging Strange through a grey tunnel with a fiery end.

DORMAMMU: WELCOME BACK, STRANGE!

DORMAMMU: WELCOME BACK TO THE DARK DIMENSION!

Page 2

2.1

Strange, on his knees, on a giant fiery tongue, overlooking an open maw that leads into a hellish landscape with no light; only red outlines.

STRANGE: IT’S GONE!

2.2

Strange holds his hands over his face.

DORMAMMU: IT’S ALL GONE!

2.3

Strange looks up. The fiery landscape is collapsing around him like puzzle pieces, revealing more grey behind it.

STRANGE: I destroyed it.

STRANGE: I destroyed you.

STRANGE: The entire dimension and you with it.

2.4

The puzzle pieces fall together in front of Strange, taking a human shape: Wong.

WONG: And all I did was die.

Page 3

3.1

Strange is now in a hospital hallway, raving and shaking with his eyes shut.

STRANGE: ENOUGH OF THIS!

STRANGE: I AM THE SORCERER SUPREME!

STRANGE: I DON’T HAVE TO SEE ANYTHING I DON’T WANT TO!

3.2

Strange bumps into Stephen, Strange’s past self, the selfish surgeon.

STEPHEN: Go back to your f*cking commune you hipster parasite.

3.3

Stephen walks past Strange.

STRANGE: Wait!

3.4

Stephen looks back.

STRANGE: Are you the one that guided me here?

STEPHEN: What in God’s name are you talking about?

STRANGE: I want to leave. Take me out!

STRANGE: I don’t want to see these things!

3.5

Stephen.

STEPHEN: Fine.

STEPHEN: Follow me.

Page 4

4.1

Strange follows Stephen through the hallways. All the patients are Strange in different clothes.

STRANGE: I’ve experienced this sort of dream before.

STEPHEN: I’m sure.

4.2

An old woman Strange waves at Strange.

STRANGE: No, really, I--

4.3

Stephen grabs Strange by the collar.

STEPHEN: THERE’S THE DOOR!

4.4

Stephen literally throws Strange out of the exit of the hospital.

4.5

Strange looks at the exit doors from the dirty puddle he’s lying in. The EXIT sign is larger than usual and glowing brighter.

STEPHEN: OP: The security in this f*cking hospital, Jesus Christ...

STRANGE: ah... my arm...

STEPHEN: OP: Yeah, too bad medicare doesn’t barter dream catchers, huh Cheech?

Page 5

5.1

The hospital fades away, leaving Stephen standing there across from Strange. The EXIT sign still floats over Stephen.

STRANGE: I... I am the Sorcerer Supreme.

STRANGE: I want to go home.

STEPHEN: That title of yours sounds important to you.

5.2

SORCERER SUPREME floats above Strange in giant lettering, matching the EXIT sign.

STEPHEN: Know what it means to me?

STEPHEN: Nothing.

STEPHEN: Nothing but boredom, depression, and bad recreational drugs.

5.3

The SORCERER SUPREME title stops glowing. The red of the EXIT sign blankets the entire void.

STEPHEN: Space-Satan’s dead.

STEPHEN: You did your thing.

STEPHEN: Why go on?

5.4

The EXIT sign.

STRANGE: I …

STRANGE: I don’t know.

Strange lies on his side, another sheet appearing around him.

Wong sits in a grey void, legs crossed. He’s still barefoot, but now has a nehru jacket and matching pants, clearly made of the cloth from Strange’s sheet. His right sleeve is pulled back.

CAPTION: WONG: Stephen Strange gave me life.

CAPTION: WONG: I am one part of every whole.

7.2

Wong rips a part of his right wrist out.

CAPTION: WONG: One piece of every puzzle.

7.3

In his hand, the part of him forms a mouth..

WONG: Tell me.

CAPTION: WONG: I am even one part Sorcerer Supreme.

7.4

Wong closes his eyes as he listens to the mouth

DEMONIC MOUTH: ssccccentraaaalllll-pprrrrrrkkkkkkk

CAPTION: WONG: But I am no part Wong.

CAPTION: STRANGE: 6:04 AM.

CAPTION: STRANGE: I still don’t know.

8.2

Strange stands up from the bed and his clothes begin to magically fade onto him, as if he was wearing them and they were invisible all along.

8.3

Strange eats bacon on an asteroid in a dark green spiraling void of cosmic terror, his voice mail machine floats next to him, along with an animal with the face and skin of a pig, but an elongated snake-like body curving into the distance. It’s missing a few bacon-shaped patches of skin.

VOICEMAIL: BEEP.

VOICEMAIL: Uh, hi, it’s Wiccan.

VOICEMAIL: I was wondering, it’s... y’know, kinda humid this week.

VOICEMAIL: Any chance you could help me out?

VOICEMAIL: Thanks. Later.

8.4

Strange solemnly looks at his plate.

THE NIGHTMARE PIG: Something wrong Steve?

STRANGE: It’s nothing.

THE NIGHTMARE PIG: Is it me? Am I not crispy enough?

STRANGE: You’re definitely crispy enough.

8.5

Strange sits up on the asteroid.

STRANGE: I’ve got to be off.

STRANGE: Yog-Soggoth’s thirty-thousandth bride has gone into labor again, I’ve been late for the past 35 years. The litter will devour Mercury if I’m a minute more.

THE NIGHTMARE PIG: HAH! Good luck with that, Steve!

STRANGE: Thank you.

Page 9

Strange stands at the base of a large cave, shouting toward the sky.

STRANGE: THAT’S IT, DARLING!

STRANGE: JUST ONE MORE PUSH!

9.2

A pair of enormous red eyes squint among a plain of human nightmares.

STRANGE: YOU CAN DO IT!

9.3

Strange jumps above a wave of bloody green water.

AOGH-TU-YEH: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYHHHHHHH

9.4

Strange floats over five million beautiful rainbow eggs.

STRANGE: They’re beautiful, Aogh-tu-yeh.

EGGS: NAMFOHSELFEHTRUOVEDNAMFOHSELFEHTRUOVED

STRANGE: And they cry like healthy spawn.

STRANGE: My work is done.

9.5

Strange floats toward a portal above the nightmare world’s surface.

STRANGE: I expect my payment in forty years!

STRANGE: Those souls had best be EVIL!

9.6

Strange floats through a doorway in space-time, another doorway rests at the end of the wormhole.

Page 10

10.1

Strange exits the doorway, which is the restroom of a small chinese restaurant. He’s dressed in what looks like a tailored suit now.

STRANGE: 6:04 PM.

STRANGE: Dammit.

10.2

Strange hands the owners of the restaurant some cash from his wallet as he walks toward the door.

CAPTION: STRANGE: I’m late.

10.3

Strange from the front as he exits onto a street in a bad neighborhood, sliding his wallet back into his pocket. A teenager in the background eyes him.

CAPTION: STRANGE: One last appointment for the day.

10.4

The teenager bumps into Strange as he walks by.

CAPTION: STRANGE: Then I can... decide what to do.

10.5

Small panel of Strange looking down, mildly annoyed.

CAPTION: STRANGE: I can--

STRANGE: Wait.

10.6

Same shot, but Strange looks up crying out in horror.

STRANGE: YOU INEPT BASTARD!

Page 11

TINY HIGH PRIEST: <TO ARMS!>

TINY HIGH PRIEST: <TO ARMS, MY CHILDREN!>

TINY HIGH PRIEST: <THE DEVIL LOOMS SKYWARD!>

12.3

An endless phalanx of knights in green armor (who are also short) fire crossbows at the hand, bracing themselves in awe of it.

A group of soldiers swing off ropes from the nearby towers, brandishing their swords. The one in the foreground has an eyepatch and various scars.

TINY VETERAN: <TO HELL WITH YA, YE VAST BLACKHEARTED C*NT!>

Page 13

13.1

The teenager pulls his bleeding hand out of the wallet, and his pinkie is missing.

TEENAGER: SH*T!

13.2

Strange smacks him in the back of the head.

STRANGE: FOR GOD’S SAKE, BOY!

STRANGE: THERE ARE WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN THERE!

13.3

The teenager runs away from Strange holding his bleeding hand in his shirt.

13.4

Strange looks into the wallet.

STRANGE: Are you alri--

STRANGE: SMALL TEXT: <Oh my.>

13.5

The wallet-world has aged several hundred years, a large castle made out of a human pinkie bone. There are spaceships docked with the sides of it. Next to it is still the great wall containing Strange’s cash, but the rest is an advanced cyberpunk city.

A long, black limo arrives. Everyone in the line gawks at it, and the bouncer makes room.

14.4

Strange steps out of the limo, there is visibly no driver in the front seat.

STRANGE: I hate having to make an entrance.

14.5

Strange hands the bouncer three hundred dollars from his wallet.

BOUNCER: Welcome, mister--

STRANGE: DOCTOR.

BOUNCER: Welcome.

Page 15

Strange sits across from Amber.

AMBER: I thought you weren’t going to make it, Stephen!

STRANGE: Yes. What a pity that would be.

AMBER: Oh, lighten up.

15.2

Amber turns to call out to a nearby waiter.

AMBER: TWO VODKAS!

STRANGE: I hate these places. I’ve told you that.

AMBER: No you haven’t.

STRANGE: Oh. Right.

STRANGE: Well.

AMBER: What?

15.3

The waiter puts two vodkas on the table.

STRANGE: I’m going to be away on business for a while.

STRANGE: This isn’t going to work.

AMBER: What?!

STRANGE: Also, you should probably handle the tip.

15.4

Strange stands up to walk away.

STRANGE: My wallet’s been through enough as it is.

AMBER: GET BACK HERE!

15.5

Strange runs out the front, past the bouncer, Amber follows, shaking her shoe at him.

STRANGE: THIS IS REALLY FOR THE BEST!

15.6

Amber throws her shoe, but Strange is gone in a puff of smoke.
