No HateIntended. I love the MCU.

I'm genuinely curious to hear from you guys. What is the appeal of making Spider-Man a dorky sidekick to other superheroes? It seems like everywhere I go, people keep talking about how much they love him being Tony's go-fer.

People were always dumping on Robin for being a sidekick to Batman, but for some reason it's okay for Spider-Man?

Personally I find it much more admirable and heroic when Spider-Man discovers his powers and more importantly himself on his own. In Homecoming he was completely eating out of the palm of Tony's hand.

During the confrontation scene he didn't even try to counter Tony such as asking him why the hell he wasn't told about the FBI and how did he expect him to know if all he got was radio silence. He's totally whipped.

So just why is it so "inspiring" for a character historically defined by self-reliance and self-reflection to be nothing more than a fanboy in over his head? Is it because the premise of a "superdork" lends itself easily to more comedy scenes? I'm not saying Spider-Man should be stoic like Batman either, nor am I saying that it's bad to like comedy. I'm asking if that comedy is the reason people love sidekick Spider-Man so much or if there's some other aspect I'm missing.

Thank you for reading.

Not even close. Unless Tony put "auto pilot" in his suit.

Spider-Man is about YOUTHâ„¢ and being RELATABLEâ„¢. Joe Quesada believes that if Spider-Man improves and grows, that readers won't relate to him and will then be incapable of liking him. So he'll never get a power boost that sticks. He's in an endless cycle of "look he's improving" and "oops! Back to square one!"

It's called into the Spider-Verse. It's going to follow Miles but we're going to see an adult Peter. Hopefully grown up Peter is a cool guy and not a total loser like Homecoming and Dan Slott Parker. And since it's called into the Spider-Verse who knows maybe we WILL see Spider-Girl/May "Mayday" Parker and Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O'hara too. Try to have a little faith.

Well probably. It made it more appealing to kids, and it made it simpler for casual audiences.

That being said, for me it didn't work. Too much comedy made it difficult to form any emotional connection to the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I had no reason to care about him and so his problems didn't matter to me.

Peter was kind of boring the whole time.

I'm hoping that the combat is really fast, frantic and satisfying. Spider-Man should be moving fast and it should be lots more fun. Web moves would be especially cool. Counter attacks should definitely be incorporated somehow. I'd also like it you'd be able to dodge machine gun fire with your reflexes.

Cinematic boss fights are kinda cool, but I don't want it done with QTE's. I feel that was a problem in Shattered Dimensions. The bosses should test your abilities and force you to think of clever solutions and ways to fight like Spider-Man. Using the environment to fight would be cool. But it shouldn't just be handed to you, you'd have to earn them with precise timing and quick thinking.

Spider-Man Tas was very good, but not perfect. Morbius was too overused and boring. Otherwise I liked the performances and the writing because of how dramatic they were. Mr. Barnes has quite a range and I really enjoyed how he handled his Peter Parker and Spider-Man. It was bigger and comic book like than other shows, which was really good at showing off Spider-Man in the MU.
