@frogdog: I don't know bro... Maybe you should Tweet at Mark and ask him.

For me personally the Superman I've enjoyed for the last 30 years doesn't kill. His not as "vigilante-ish" as that in the stories that are my favourite.. The Superman I love is more grandeur, he is of a greater ideal - The Superman I love does all those things I wrote down. But that's me - I'll probably read any comic you through at me that has Supes killing and I'll hate it and there's nothing wrong with that. The same way you may like it - that's cool.

Man of Steel had the Superman you love - awesome. It didn't have the Superman I love - tough cookies for me.

Lets get back to reading comics.

You sir... get it. I have been sharing the same ideas over and over with people who just don't seem to get it.

Superman doesn't kill people - no matter what the reason.

For everything that has a capacity to do good, it has an equal capacity to do evil.

Superman, through his strengths and attributes has a great capacity for for good... what keeps him from going evil? His morals. We can't just have him killing people, no matter how it's justified. You and I can't kill people, because no matter the reason it's still wrong and we have to answer to it.

Who does Superman answer to if he kills someone? To have him carry out an act like that totally destroys the foundations of his character, because it's a total abuse of his power. And that alone is proof that the Man of Steel crew understand nothing about Superman. Killing Zod was such an easy way out - and Supes never does anything easy.

And did he have to kill Zod?

Why couldn't he just grab Zod and fly away? Why couldn't he just stand in front of the heat rays? Why couldn't he just cover Zods eyes with his hands? Yes he would have gotten hurt - but if he cared so much wouldn't it have been worth the pain? With all his powers and all his "love for humanity" the first thing that came to mind was to snap a living things neck?

Bull shit... complete and utter bull shit.

The writers said that this kill was needed to reinvent the character. Reinvent into what exactly? Superman doesn't have to be a "bad ass" - his not edgy or hardcore. There are hundreds of inter-changeable comic characters to fill that niche. Superman IS the boy scout, he IS the naive farm boy with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

And his not just an alien from another planet. He was born and raised an earth kid, a simple farm boy.

The Batman persona is the real Bruce Wayne and the playboy billionaire is the façade. But for Superman - it's the other way around. The godly spaceman is the outer shell, inside Clark Kent - born and raised - is the real person.

This was totally lost with the dull, emo portrayal of Superman in Man of Steel.

To the average movie goer Man of Steel will be a visual spectacle that will make the audience accept it's cinematic short comings; in favor of shallow action pieces and a "Bad Ass" revision of the character.

To the avid Superman fan however who cherishes the characters rich history and respects his merits... Man of Steel is a dull imitation of the “Man of tomorrow” made for the sake of a summer block buster.

I'm glad they don't call him Superman in the movie - because it wasn't a Superman film.

well there's actually a very cool TMNT series running through IDW. That has sort of it's own take on the history of the turtles while still keeping with the DDD inspired stuff...

That could allow room for a cross over

That is such a terrible pic of Imogen Poots that you have up, I think looks wise she is easily the cutest.

Also: I think Emma Stone would rock that role.

Normally for super hero movie, I'd flip out for a trailer that has such a huge chunk of footage. But the trailer was dull and looked almost b-grade-ish

I loved this book. I wasn't very impressed with the first book of the series, but after reading issue 2 and now 3, I can totally see where Morrison is going with this.

Return of Bruce Wayne is looking more like a huge piece of art that you need to get all the pieces for before you see it for what it really is, and that's what kind of dis-jointing about it. When Issue 6 finally comes out, and you read the series as a whole, it will make a lot more sense I think.

But it's cool watching Bruce carve a sort of 'Bat legacy' through time. That's where the bat people come in, because of what happened with Bruce in the "Cave-Batman" era.

Loved the comics... but am more crazy about the books. I have every single one of the Conan stories, and even the 1970s Sphere publications with the Frazetta covers :D

That being said... this movie scares me. It's already been announced else where that this film has a BS origin story about Conan losing his parents to some tyrant then going off for revenge, wonder what else they've added/ changed for the sake of a story.

If you find Book 3 of the Sphere publications (Or by Lancer books in the States), the stories in there put together would make the best Conan introduction movie.

I just hope the movie isn't a flop, because if the film is a right off, people might right off Conan too :(

I thought the art in this pretty cool, the style very much suited the era. And the story in this was intriguing, and I liked the issue better than the cave men one.

Spoiler:

And the whole Wayne family curse at the end with the "till the end of time" motif ... it gave me chills :P
