Honor Valley Park...Months Ago
"Hey, I'm glad you decided to meet with me." A slight nod of acknowledgement, because that's the most she could muster. There's an air of familiarity lingering between the two. A chance meeting some time ago.
"It's been nearly a year since...everything went down. Thank you, President Pierce." A slight grin before she breathes through pursed lips. It's still strange living in this woman's skin.
"You don't have to thank me, Brian. Right time, right place." Together they shared a common enemy. Ada Guillaume. For the last year, since arriving in the new universe, Clarice Michelle Pierce has been trying to make sense of Ada's purpose. She was a prophet of some sort. Her massacres were an operatic prayer for whatever god she praised, but finding the why behind it all was easier said then done.
"I've been using your Dominus International contacts and trying to make sense of the terrorist group that attacked Grimm. It's not easy. None of these people make sense to me." Liafador's behaved differently in the new universe. Where were the LeBeau's? Why wasn't France in space? Miss Pierce couldn't even find Loner's Nightclub.
"What do you mean? I've poured so much into finding that woman. Proving to STRIKE...to everyone that I'm not one of them. You've found nothing?" She winced as his short tempered ego flustered, but she wouldn't argue the issue. How could he know how much her lifestyle worsened when she took over her new universe identity? Clarice Michelle couldn't tap into this reality like her own. She was disconnected. He wouldn't understand. How could he?
"Maybe it's time you let her go, sweetheart. This city's gotten what it wants from you. Money and opportunity. You're just fishing for drama and attention." Her tongue's venom wasn't as sharp as of late, but her words burned just the same.
"No one wants to see you be the hero, Brian. All these people want...is someone to blame their mistakes onto. If I were you...I'd leave this city. Let them fend for themselves and let them remember who needs who." In a previous universe, Brian was her adoptive great grandfather. A great inventor that would set an example of leadership for the rest of the Zeraz legacy. She'd spend evenings in her adoptive family's estate, reading his journal's about his ideas of traveling through time and creating a peaceful society.
"You're so stressed. You're so wrapped in proving yourself to everyone else. When you should only be thinking about yourself." As she stared at the Brian Newcastle before her, Clarice Michelle could only see the pain that comes with doing good for others. The selfish nature that exudes from their pours and the ungratefulness that spills from their watery mouths.
"Once upon a time, I had the world and then someone ripped that away from me. Don't let that pain define who you are. Get up and prove to yourself....who Brian Newcastle is." Clarice Michelle couldn't stand keeping his company any longer. It hurt interacting with the Zeraz family of this universe. They were wolves convinced they were sheep and it was draining her soul. All the goddess wanted was her world to make sense once again. So, she walked away from Brian without a second thought. Her mind intent on achieving that prime sense of self-worth once again. It was the type of hunger her soul couldn't ignore anymore.
