I think I'll have to forgo Justice League and Venom. They just are not grabbing me (and besides, money...). I'll read them elsewhere later. Looking forward to Amazing Spider-Man though!

You could try to pick up Uncanny X-Men at issue 5, or Wolverine and the X-Men at issue 4. X-Men Legacy just got a Point-1 (260.1) but you could also start at 261. And Astonishing X-Men is starting a new story arc at #48 in March (but while it's not the worst X-Series out there, it's not the best).

There is more I'm sure but that's what I'm reading right now.

These match ups are the ones that I've seen the most, as there are others like Cyke vs Hawkeye... Anyways I'm actually having a hard time on who would win from the list, what do you guys think?

Archangel vs Dare Devil

Cyclops vs Hawkeye

I'd definitely want to able to use my powers, so I'd team up with people like me--those with powers who are working on not hiding.

How do you figure out what to read and what to abandon?

I'm a relatively new comic-enthusiast that has been dipping into a few too many titles when it comes to getting a feel of what is out there and what is in my areas of interest. But I definitely need to spend less on comics but I just don't want to sacrifice certain titles.

I am sure it is different for everyone, but what methods do you have to ensure maximum comic bliss? I'm sure it mostly has to do with personal value, but I there have to be ways to wait for a trade paper (and to know to wait), or to rationalize holding on until the end of a story-arc and then canceling it from your pull-list.

But then there are impulse buys. Starting with a new series at #1 or jumping on if something is hyped about. Then what? Is it reasonable to wait a week or would you miss a chance if a comic-shop no longer holds that issue?

Decisions, decisions, right?

Shadowcat is underrepresented on here...

(And I can't forget to list Supergirl either.)

Calvin and Hobbes? Some Spider-Man comic by dad bought in the late 90's? Or the Bionicle comics from 2001?

But I just started being a serious comic-junkie about 10 weeks ago. My first comic was Astonishing X-Men 42 and I've been hooked ever since.

I'd argue it's Superman. In my mind he seems like the all-American hero/poster-boy of comics.

But Batman also shares that title, almost.

And Spider-Man is a close runner-up for iconic comic-book heroes too.
