Comics becoming popular again!!!

With the hype of Tyrese's Mayhem, Geoff Johns Blackest Night, COMIC CON, and so many other big upcoming comics, it seems that people who don't read comics are once again noticing comic books! What do you think is the biggest factor playing the role in bringing life back to the comic industry? Is it because comic based movies and extremely popular and make a lot of money in theaters? Or do you think the industy was lacking in good writers and artists? Tell me your opinion I personally believe it has to do mostly with the fact that comic based movies are extremely popular... but I could be wrong let me know!

I agree comic movies are behind it. I wouldn't say that comics are becoming popular though. What percentage of people that saw Dark Knight read Killing Joke or Batman: Year One?

I just started reading comics about a month ago, because the good deal of press blackest night has been getting got me interested. The movies helped, but the writing has done a lot for keeping me interested, specifically dc and a few smaller publishers are what is keeping me reading every week, marvel on the other hand (who's characters I've always liked more before I started reading) has nothing that has really caught my eye. I started reading ASM and that's pretty good, but the other companies seem to me atleast to have better writing right now on a larger number of books

@EisforExtinction: probably like 2%

@wiglebienie: I agree with you that the writing has kept people interested. I mean I just started picking up comics a few weeks ago and I've probably spent over $300 buying more and more because I have just enjoyed reading them soo much! But yet I have not found one good marvel volume to pick up yet. And they have had the most comic movies, yet it seems like their books are slacking.

It was because I started reading comics.

the roller coaster/ages trend. i read articles on it. not up to going into great detail, but its where our ages come from, Golden, Silver, ect. comic intreste has always gone up and down drastically since the beginning in waves, hence like a rollercoatser, and market anaylists have never been able to pinpoint an exact reason it happens. the current movies realeses are however fanning the flames more than ever, and making the general public aware of characters they werent other than the staple icons.

Comic Con occurs every year.

I think it's because people started hearing about me reading comics and as you know everybody wants to be like me

I don't know, I'm the only one (that I know of) who reads comics in my whole grade, but a lot of my friends do watch the movies and enjoy them, so you never know

its kind of neat though, you know? my parents ask me questions about X-Men , Spider-Man, Watchmen, Batman, ect. characters now.
its not nerdy to be into superhero's anymore.

No matter what, the video game industry will continue to outsell the comic book industry until the end of time.

Until we make holodecks, at that point all of society collapses because no one would want to leave their holodecks.
