I don't know... the Cosmic Cube gave him the power to talk to birds. And just that. He had to get tech support just to fly, before that he would just jump from roof to roof... talking to birds. It would be SO much easier and made so much more sense if he was just a mutant (of course when that came up, they shot it down).
