Green Lantern Secret Origin Part 7 0

In this interesting conclusion, there is much left to be desired. Maybe, some of these stories will flesh out in the forth coming “real time” stories in Issues number 36 and beyond, but the conclusion to the Secret Origins story seems too open ended. In this issue, Hal Jordan makes the Guardians upset by his questions—it seems that Hal Jordan represents who Americans often are. They ask the hard questions and they seek for the truth. We Americans don’t put up with a lot of double speak and smok...

Green Lantern Secret Origins Part 5 0

Reading through the origin story of Hal Jordan, Green Lantern, we see his growing relationship with Sinestro. This relationship puts chills on a reader—while at the same time brings sympathy toward Sinestro. Leading to the question of whether Sinestro was a mad man, or a visionary. While this back ground story doesn't justify his evil response nor his shady techniques—it makes you wonder…"does he truly have a moral agenda that matches my own?" In this book, we see the message from Abin Sur. The...

GL Secret Origin Part 4 0

Reading the first meeting on Hal Jordan and Sinestro sends chills down my back. We see Hal Jordan being the brazen fighter pilot, fighting to the last moment—bucking authority and standing up for what he believes.   We see Sinestro-experienced and equally as cocky—in his first face off with Jordan.   This origin story is well placed as it fleshes out the relationship between Sinestro and the Green Lanterns. But, it draws conflict.   Knowing what will become of Sinestro—what will happen in the Si...

GL Secret Origin Part Three 0

Reading through the Secret Origin series is a very interesting endeavor for me, as I still feel new to the comic book scene. Geoff Johns is helping me out by taking his time explaining the back ground of Green Lantern. Before collecting comic books, I always thought Green Lantern was cool—but never knew much else. This series is helping me gain an understanding of the character and the background as I grow this portion of my comic book collection. Green Lantern 31 explores the actions that hap...

GL: Secret Origin Part Two 0

Geoff John’s does a wonderful job of getting me interested in the Green Lantern again with Green Lantern #30. As he continues building the plot for the Secret Origin—it is quite clear that he is building a bigger story. It is exciting for me to read the interwoven stories foreshadowing of the current arc (The Blackest Night). But, let me focus back on the story. Secret Origins Part Two revisits the “Ring Ceremony” as Hal Jordan places the ring on his finger. I was surprised and confused that th...

Green Lantern Secret Origin Part One 0

Green Lantern #29 begins a Seven Part series revisiting the origin of Green Lantern. But, what is so “Secret?” Most of the storyline sticks to the story that we expect from Green Lantern.   This, I am not at all upset by. To digress a little—the biggest problem with Wonder Woman is the origin stories that have been bounced around for years. The best thing they could do is to throw all of the Greek Mythology stuff out and go to straight “Amazonian Princess hangs out with Steve and saves the wor...

The Alpha Lanterns Part 1-3 0

In this three part epilogue to the Sinestro Corps, we find the third and fourth order of effects of the laws enacted by the Guardians—two allow lethal force to members of the Sinestro Corps. The ethical dilemma ensues—when is it legal to kill a member of the Sinestro Corps?   Is it murder to kill on sight?   Is it ok to kill in self defense? If Lethal Force is authorize in Last Resort…what does that mean? We see that the Guardians hand this duty of judgment to the Alpha Lanterns. Looking like ...

New Day New Knight 0

Batman #689: “New Day, New Knight” gives a picture of the personality that Dick Grason bring to the Character of Batman. There was a frame where Two-Face is commenting on how Batman was smiling during his crime fighting. I was reminded of some of the Silver Age where we would see this once and awhile. As Judd Winick writes the story, he allows Dick Grason to be himself. There is a quality of fun and enjoyment that the “Robin-Nightwing-Batman” has brought to the table. It is also interesting ...
