It would seem Jubilee is no longer a vampire, and got her proper powers back :)

Maybe the whip is a hint at who might be responsible for messing around with Diana's reality.

As someone who hates to changes that were made to Diana's origin, costume and "God of War" plot thread, Rucka just gave me the greatest narrative gift possible.

I wished for the first page to be Wondie waking up in horror, realising the entire Nu-52 run was a terrible, poorly-written nightmare. I didn't get that of course. What I got was even better - a multiple-choice first page where Rucka pulled together all the nonsense and left the door wide open for readers to make up their own minds, based on personal preference. I cannot be more happy.

I knew he would do something fantastic to mend the past damage, but I had no idea it would be THIS fantastic! :D

That image is genius if it's a subtle dig at Gal Gadot's physique :)

Seriously though, she looks more like Optimus Prime than Wonder Woman with those legs.

And for the love of Hera can we PLEASE stop favouring that stupid sword and shield over the lasso?! The poor thing's barely even visible from that angle!

On a slightly different point - I think people here are missing the key word: "twin".

As a generic Zeusbaby, Diana has already been linked as sibling to innumerable other children of Zeus. It's the twin concept that's the new angle - she's now in a Luke/Leia relationship with this Jason character and there will likely be all sorted of mileage made from how the twins were separated and whether their personalities are anything alike.

The Nu52 costume was a pain, but vanished quickly. The non-clay origin is worse, as unlike other types of change it attacks the very base of the character and so taints everything until it's finally done away with. And it will be done away with, eventually. We just need to ride out the movies and get a change in top level DC management before things get back on track.

The brother concept doesn't bother me nearly as much as the non-clay origin, but will be annoying because of said revamped origin since whatever happens with the brother will almost certainly tie into the Zeusbaby back story and therefore will need to be jettisoned or heavily rewritten when that gets dropped.

DC just don't seem to get it. There was a REASON why Wonder Woman was a clay golem. Her origin harkened back to Galatea, Talos and Pandora - until the Nu52 she was essentially a perfect mirror for the latter - instead of Hephaestus molding her as an icon of (or metaphor for) all the "evils of women", Diana stands as a ultimately positive female role model and is good in all ways that Pandora wasn't. Instead of absolute guile, she's absolute truth. There was a POINT to how she was created.

Unfortunately, the reading age and education level of the top people at DC fell in recent years and the classical background for Wonder Woman was accidentally forgotten, then rewritten from that position of ignorance. It's like someone making a new Godzilla origin movie and not starting with a scene involving a fishing boat, because they're either too young or stupid to know what the Daigo Fukuryƫ Maru is and how it links directly into Godzilla as a metaphor. This is what's really happened, the "making Wonder Woman relatable" spin has been introduced after the fact.

At some future point they'll hire someone into a position of influence who has actually read some ancient Greek mythology and then everyone will realise how daft they've been and revert Diana back to her true origin. Until then, I guess I'm stuck having to mentally rewrite in-comic references to Diana's origin while I'm reading them.

Is Rucka going to be forced to maintain the daughter of Zeus origin, instead of the animated clay origin? With the movie still off in the future and almost certainly going with the former, I guess it might be too much to ask that this key part of Diana's character be restored to normal sooner rather than later?

It's just going to be weird to read Rucka's WW maintaining the Zeusbaby nonsense. Kinda like if Bruce Timm were forced to write a Batman who murders people.

I had no idea Wonder Woman was also a green-skinned, hugely-foreheaded, orange-jumpsuited arch enemy of the Incredible Hulk.

Does that mean The Leader is also Wonder Woman? I'm not sure the lasso of truth would be able to restrain the Incredible Hulk for very long.
