The ultimate test of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and moments of convenience, but where he stands in moments...

@p00ty: Hollywood and news media is made up of a lot of atheists and homosexuals. It's not like it's a conspiracy theory. I would say there is enough in hollywood to affect and change the attitudes of the majority on marriage.

Do you remember right after the Texas shooting that actors and directors were coming out saying thoughts and prayers were useless? These are blatant attacks on Christianity, like I said death by 1000 cuts.

They aren't numerous, but they have a big voice. Just like the gay advocates saying "born this way" which isn't scientific, they had a big voice too.

@king_saturn: I've never got a headache before but trying to describe to you why the Holy Spirit is a divine person is seriously hurting my head. I don't mean to say that in spite toward you. I just don't know how else to describe it to you, I would like to continue discussing things with you in the future, but this conversation on the Holy Spirit has become too circular and I don't see it going anywhere.

Maybe this will give you a better insight as to why The Holy Spirit is a divine person rather than God's force.

A common mistake made with regard to the Holy Spirit is referring to the Spirit as "it," something most translations of the Bible are careful to avoid. The Holy Spirit is a person. He has the attributes of personhood, performs the actions of persons, and has personal relationships. He has insight (1 Corinthians 2:10-11). He knows things, which requires an intellect (Romans 8:27). He has a will (1 Corinthians 12:11). He convicts of sin (John 16:8). He performs miracles (Acts 8:39). He guides (John 16:13). He intercedes between persons (Romans 8:26). He is to be obeyed (Acts 10:19-20). He can be lied to (Acts 5:3), resisted (Acts 7:51), grieved (Ephesians 4:30), blasphemed (Matthew 12:31), even insulted (Hebrews 10:29). He relates to the apostles (Acts 15:28) and to each member of the Trinity (John 16:14; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

@dernman: Those that you have described would be detrimental to society and family. If we are talking about man with many wives, which would be more likely, then it is anti woman, because what's stopping the older man from finding a much younger wife when his wife gets too old? Polygamy is riddled with abuse. Same could be said about same sex polygamy.

@thekillerklok:Males are the ones who would speak polygamy more than woman.

@khael: The negative side of polygamy reminds me of Jacob and his two wives, and the problems that came from that. Rachel being the one who Jacob was suppose to marry, and being tricked into marrying Leah. Rachel became sour when she couldn't bare children for Jacob.

@dernman: Because that mostly leads to love triangle, not marriage. I live in a Muslim country where polygamy is pretty common and that rarely happens.

The older wife always gets neglected, it almost feels like she becomes a freaking slave not wife anymore. Remember, this was the woman that this male supposedly pledged to.

Also, the idea of woman hitting up a married man is kinda pathetic to me. There are a lot of single male, damn... whores.

Thank you!

We live in a society where anything goes these days, the institution of marriage was always suppose to be between one man and woman. And yes polygamy is anti woman.

@king_saturn: Holy Spirit speaking to Peter

19 And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you. 20 Rise and go down and accompany them without hesitation, for I have sent them.” Acts 10:19–20

A person, as in having an individual identity. That exists outside of God as does God the son.

When trying to understand the trinity, you have to look at how the bible describes the 3 divine persons.

When the bible talks about God being the creator of all things, and came to Earth in human form as Jesus. You also have the Holy spirit that give life to the universe, gave strength to Moses, David, and Samson. The new testament elaborates on the Holy Spirit role as guiding people to do what is right, and illuminating the truth about God. They describe the spirit as breath or the wind. It is mysterious, but to say it isn't a divine person, is really saying there isn't a trinity. Which would be blasphemous for Christians. Jesus said blaspheming against the Holy Spirit is an eternal sin that will not be forgiven.

There is little evidence that suggests that the 3 divine persons existed before the creation, but it's there in the Bible. When God says let us make man in our image was he not speaking to God the Son and God the Spirit? Jesus said himself he existed before Abraham's time.

I agree they all act together. They are not equal though

If they act in unity, then they are equal. Because all divine persons are one God. If the holy spirit wasn't it's own distinct divine person, then the bible wouldn't have acted as if it was.

@king_saturn: The trinity is taught in the old and new testament. And you can't deny that when speaking about the holy spirit that it is distinct from the Father. That is why the Holy Spirit is a distinct person.

And yes we can pray to the Holy Spirit the same as we pray to Jesus.

God the father, God the son, and God the spirit. All existed before God even created the world. Let us make man in our image. Jesus even said he existed way before Abraham.

Where Is The Trinity Taught In The Old Testament ? Perhaps, But There Is Still No Evidence That The Holy Spirit Is A Person. Maybe Some Type Of Entity Or Force That Yahweh Uses But Not A Person As The Father And Son Are.

Pray To The Holy Spirit ? I Thought The Bible Teaches To Pray To The Father In The Name Of Yeshua ? Where In The Bible Does It Say To Pray To The Holy Spirit ?

If Yeshua And Yahweh Are Truly Equal As You Say, How Can Yahweh Be The Father And Yeshua The Son ? Should They Not Be Brothers Instead ? Also, We Went Over The Abilities That Make Yahweh Greater Than Yeshua. Yahweh Can Be Everywhere, Yeshua Can Not As He Is In Body. The Holy Spirit Can Be All Over The Earth. Yeshua Can Not. They Are Not Equal.

Like praying by saying "let the Holy spirit give us a new baptism" something to that affect. But mainly pray to the Father in Jesus's name.

The Holy Spirit may not be in the shape of human being, but I tell you, The Holy Spirit is a distinct divine person in the trinity. If it was any evidence to the contrary I don't think Christians would believe in the trinity.

Where is it taught in the Old Testament? I provided where it said "Let us make humans in our image"(OT) The holy spirit was used in the creations in genesis, and "when Jesus said he was before Abraham, I am" (NT)

I am curious why you keep referring to Jesus and the Father in Hebrew.

But they are equal, they act in unity. The 3 divine persons are God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. Just because they have different characteristics doesn't mean they aren't equal. Each person is God.

@spareheadone: Yes. Still Deist. I don't wanna just pick a religion. I want to pick a religion or philosophy that actually moves my spirit. That's why I converse with all of you. Maybe one of you will trigger something.

@ccraft: Heterosexuals cheapened marriage. And people who wanna marry cars, robots are just furthering the trend.

It's almost impossible for gays to do more damage to marriage than heterosexuals have.

Transgender is not a mental illness.

I agree. working on your marriage involves sacrifice and being unselfish. Much easier to divorce.

If you can't tell, I can't stand what marriage has become. It shouldn't even be called marriage anymore. And I believe that CHRISTIANS are the blame. They have gotten away from their values. Heterosexual Christians are the ones getting divorced(50% divorced rate) and committing adultery and producing single parent homes. The "culture" and social media is dominated by Christians. So when I hear Christians blaming gays or atheist for declining morals, Matthew 7:5 comes to mind.

You're a deist, that's interesting. I grew up a "Christian" but having your parents faith isn't what it means to be Christian. My faith was pretty weak growing up. Seeing people like Richard Dawkins and Hitchens mock religion making a pretty easy to switch to Atheism. This was in my teenage years of course. When I got older, met new people I started to question a lot of things. Why didn't this relationship work, or why didn't this job work out for me. Working with that special needs client I was able to meet the nicest old lady and experiencing her strong faith. At the time I didn't really make much of it, but reflecting on my life and the people that have come and gone, I truly come to admire God's will. It moved me from NC all the way to GA. But I guess what really got me back into Christianity was reading the bible and finding the right pastor to teach me God's word and what he wants for us. It's an absolute truth I can find peace in in a time where our nation is divided on every important issue. This country doesn't seem to be doing well by moving away from the Christian values that made this country great.

Yes heterosexuals have made a mockery of marriage by not following God's will. Society has made it easier to tear apart family for selfish reasons for a long time now, but you'd be ignoring the fact that homosexuals changing the institution of marriage to fit their needs cheapens the real thing, not only that it will bring more depravity into such an institution.

Transgender, the mental desire to be born a different sex or feel like you should have a penis when you don't is absolutely a mental illness. The only reason APA changed it from a mental illness because of social influence, not of any new scientific data. If you are born a man and you have the desire to be a woman and want to remove your genitals to do so, that is something wrong. Next you'll be telling me Body integrity identity disorder isn't a mental illness. Heck maybe one day it won't be considered a mental illness, just found out people call themselves Transabled.

I agree. working on your marriage involves sacrifice and being unselfish. Much easier to divorce.

Well that's good we agree. I just wished we agreed on how marriage should remain one man and one woman. You think our culture and social media is dominated by Christians? Marriage used to be a covenant between your partner and God, but what its become doesn't resemble what marriage was intended for.

That's not true. And I meant to say media, such as Hollywood and news media. Which more often than not is dominated by atheism and homosexuals. I don't know if you keep up with politics or not, but Christian are under attack 24/7. It's death by 1000 cuts, and they have been chipping away at the Christian values for a long time.
