The Thing in "Earthly Delights" (Hostess Ads #82)

On a site dedicated to making a wiki history of all things comics, comics ads should not be forgotten. Especially the ads for Hostess Fruit Pies, Twinkies, and other snacks. Starting in 1975, Marvel and DC heroes (and the Harvey,Archie, and Gold Key/Whitman characters as well!) spent seven years throwing Hostess snacks at a bizarre line of villains to stop their crimes. Although many of the villains were completely silly, they were created specifically for these ads, and in many cases, not even the names have been used again, since the ads stopped in mid-1982.

So I thought I'd show an ad here, and make a list of the comics I find it in, as I run across them. This list features: The Thing in "Earthly Delights." As noted on the Hostess Superhero Advertisements page:

Breaking into a deli, a group of aliens attempted to abduct the locals and transport them back home as edibles. Stopped by the Thing, the invaders were instead given the tastier alternative of Hostess Fruit Pies.

@kfhrfdu_89_76k: Okay, I'm about to go to bed, so be clear: what's the coincidence you are seeing here?

@cbishop:

Because I don`t want you to lose sleep...Erik Larsen has a Hostess ad parody, that I saw a few days ago. There.

It`s not a humongous one though, since it`s a pretty popular comic right now.

@kfhrfdu_89_76k: lol, oh okay, I get it now. He's actually had a few parodies. They are also on his Facebook page, in the first Hostess Ads album. Check him out. Btw, he's given me permission to use the artist/inker info he's provided for the ads. :D
