@lykopis: I've seen more than one of these SSP and TTP ads that have those asterisked scale calculations on them. I can't imagine that they meant anything to anyone, other than the engineers who designed the toys.

As for the vulgar humor, it's possible that you may have had to have once been a thirteen year old boy to understand. ...Or perhaps you're fibbing. ;)

I wanna know how that kid got Tee Tee Man to flip a 360 in the air? Right out the gate, the ad set the bar high for every kid who got this toy - I mean, all those asterisk'ed distance calculations, I have a feeling there were a lot of disappointed rug-rats at the time.

As for potential vulgar humour, I don't see it. Nope. Not at all. Nuh-uh.

The Inspector comic was fun, but for me, I completely geeked out on the sixteen-page Kenner Fun Catalog in the middle, which is where I'm getting these ads. We'll see more about the catalog in Comic Ads #50 (yeah, I plan these things out sometimes- how 'bout that).

That Spidercycle is amazing- I'd have loved to have had one of those as a kid. The only Spider-Man thing I remember having was a very tiny plastic Spider-Man (all red), and a tube of "web fluid," which sucked as a toy. The tube was a little bit smaller than a travel tube of toothpaste, you squeezed it the same way, and had to very carefully string the webs from place-to-place, or they'd break. The stuff in the tube made webs that were indistinguishable from the real thing, but they didn't "shoot" anywhere, and didn't hold anything. But somebody made a buck.

I thought an obvious dirty thought in the third panel.

There was a comic about The inspector. Pretty cool...

Spidey has black eyes! Just like in the old Japanese Spidey-show and Alex Ross`s version of the character.
