Scottie in A Cracker Jack Story (Comic Ads #21)
|Comic Ads are more than just the mountain of Hostess Ads we know and love. Over the years, many a company has used one page comic ads to shill their products in the pages of comic books! So I thought I'd do a list series that showcases those ads, and shows you what issues I've found them in. To me, these are as much a part of comics history as any superhero, and I love 'em for the nostalgia they bring. I hope they do the same for you. Enjoy.|
So far, every time I've seen this ad, it has been on the inside front cover. Scottie's coach decides what every kid needs is a little more pressure, and tells him it's all up to him. Scottie bravely goes to bat, and starts to doubt with the first strike. Strike two comes, his mother shouts encouragement from the stands, and CRACK! A home run! Scottie's a real Cracker Jack!
On a serious note: if you're a parent, kids might act embarrassed when you show up to one of their games, meets, matches, whatever, but I know that personally, the few times my parents showed up to see me compete, I played just a little harder that time. I held my head just a little higher. I felt just a little special. So if you've got the opportunity, go to every extracurricular thing your kid is in, and make sure they hear you cheering for them. It will make a difference. You may think it won't, but remember: if you're not there, the only difference you're making is indifference. Parents can be Cracker Jacks too. ;)
