Lee Rider in "A Starring Role" (Comic Ads #15)

Comic Ads are more than just the mountain of Hostess Ads we know and love. Over the years, many a company has used one page comic ads to shill their products in the pages of comic books! So I thought I'd do a list series that showcases those ads, and shows you what issues I've found them in. To me, these are as much a part of comics history as any superhero, and I love 'em for the nostalgia they bring. I hope they do the same for you. Enjoy.

Ah, the 1970's were such a simple time to grow up. You could read innocent comics about a teenage witch, and still be a boy who wanted to look like a real cowboy. Incidentally, you can still do that now if you want to, but advertisers don't seem to think so. Everything's got to be slick and cool, and...okay, excuse the old guy rant. Still, doesn't this make anybody else smile? Simple idea: two kids got to visit a movie set, and one of them (Lee Rider, of course) wound up in the movie, because he had the right look, thanks to his jeans. lol

I don't know how many of these ads there were. I know of at least one more, and I'll share that whenever I run across it in a comic. This ad also appeared in black-and-white.

This is so corny...Which is why I DO have to smile.

I`d like to write some kinda gay joke too. But it would feel forced. And wouldn`t really fit.

@kfhrfdu_89_76k: You think it's corny now? I couldn't stop imagining it live acted, and the director being overly enthusiastic, like Lee's jeans were the greatest thing for movies since cameras and film.
