For Keeps (Box 2 - What If?, Wetworks, Zorro & Others)

So I'm sorting through my comic collection again, and trying to figure out what I'm going to keep. Thought I'd list series and issues I intend to keep here, and some notes on why, for my own reference. If you enjoy that kind of thing, then...um...enjoy.

  • Petworks vs. WildK.A.T.S #1.

I haven't ready many What If books, I should. And Arion is so cool -- last year I received a box full of older comics, some were Warlord and some where Arion. Being DC, I put them aside, lol -- but I will make an effort since I did some wiki-editing a while back on Warlord characters.

@cbishop:

I have some of those 21. century What ifs?. The ones collected to Mirro Mirror (yeah, I have the TPB). They could be better, but I`m probably not gonna sell it.

Zorro looks interesting.

I don't buy sword & sorcery books new off the racks, but I'm starting to wonder why. I am a die-hard fan of superheroes, but truthfully, I read superhero titles and very rarely go back to them. Whenever I wind up with sword & sorcery issues though, I find myself reading them multiple times. I don't know what it is about them, or why I like them so much - it tends to run together as barbarian/swordsman/adventurer versus monster time after time - but I find that I do like them very much. Starting to think maybe I should rethink my buying choices.

I am a What If/ Elseworlds ho - if it's alternate reality (or even a crossover) I am so there. I have the Mirror Mirror TPB also, even though I have most of the single issues.

Zorro is a personal favorite, but I loved the Topps series best. They were giving him a rogues gallery in that series, and I thought that was great! How many times can he fight Monasterio and Garcia? Sheesh.

@cbishop: Why not seel the single issues then? Don`t tell me that it`s because of sentimentality...

Then again, it`s very hard to resist it.

Hm. The villains are of the ordinary mold though, I presume. Nothing inherently bad in that...just boring...

You can correct my assumption if it`s faulty.

@kfhrfdu_89_76k: I'm in the process of sorting my collection now, deciding what to keep and what to sell. Stuff like Mirror Mirror, where I've got the TPB, I'll probably sell the single issues. There a few that I really like though, where I may keep the first issue of the single issues. Some series I have picked up an extra #1, just so I could keep it with the TPB, but be able to sell the set. I bought all the House of M singles as they came out, then traded them back to my LCS for the TPB's. <shrugs> Some things I don't mind getting rid of, some things I do.

The Zorro villains weren't really a mold. I mean, it's hard to make interesting villains for that period, and I feel they did pretty well. A Native American archer? Naturally. Rigs various tricks to his arrows that are in keeping with the period, ala Hawkeye or Green Arrow? A little more interesting. Has a secret hideout in the carcass of a beached whale? Home run! I really liked that series. :)

@cbishop:

I don`t like having dublicates. At all.

Awesome HQ.

...

Kinda of an obnoxious HQ, too. Maybe he`s resistant to the smell.

Also, I find it funny how much Lady Rawhide looks like a Mortal combat-character.

@kfhrfdu_89_76k: Duplicates: I don't like them either, but I hate wasting money too, so there's part of me that doesn't want to let either one go, because I spent money on both. :}

HQ: In the story, he used the whale carcass because of the smell. It kept people from poking around in his business. It was hard for Zorro to deal with. ;)

Lady Rawhide: The Topps Zorro series started the year after the Mortal Kombat game was released, so maybe you've got something there. o.o

HQ:

Wow...pretty badass.

Lady Rawhide:

Maybe.

Also, I`m pretty sure that her name is a throwback to Rawhide kids name.

@kfhrfdu_89_76k: Well, I think the two names having Rawhide in them is just coicidence. Considering her costume, I think "Rawhide" was meant to invoke other thoughts. ;)
