The problem is Disney has to make a tremendous volume of content to attract subscribers to Disney+, which is limiting their ability to devote enough resources to each individual project.

If Disney+ didn't exist these films would have more time to be developed. They would have greater access to vfx that is basically being rationed, would have less pressure to hit certain windows to avoid competing with other company projects, and they could be more selective over scripts, actors, directors, etc. etc.

Disney can scale down on the volume of content they produce the way Warner Bros Discovery has, but the likely affect is we'll see the Disney+ subscriber count drop the way Max has.

I'd agree that the so-called wokeness turns certain people off but it doesn't necessarily make the films less interesting.

I think the main issue is to my first point marvel overestimated their ability to turn lesser known characters into compelling films following guardians of the Galaxy. Combine that with an overarching plot that is not interesting or non-existing (what good guys and bad guys are building towards) and it's just not must see anymore.

Oversaturation/fatigue are possible points, but we heard that about Star Wars following Solo and look at them putting out Mandalorian, Ashoka, Andor to rejuvenate that franchise.

Here is why the MCU is in decline relative to the infinity saga in my opinion.

1. The main characters in the infinity saga were known despite being called b list. People at least heard of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America before. Also, just as importantly, we knew that they were the most important characters to the plot.

Compare this with today and it's difficult to see which character is driving the plot now. Will we see Moon Knight, the eternals, Black Knight, Shang chi again? How much longer will Hulk, Thor, Ant Man, Captain marvel, Spiderman, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord / guardians & Nick Fury play a part? They'll continue to be new characters like X-Men, fantastic four, Blade... And there's the whole Young avengers thing.

2. We knew what the objective for the good guys was. In every friend group there was someone who could explain that the avengers were a thing, and that these characters were going to combine in some way to fight a major threat. This created a level of anticipation for it happening, and a sense that each film was important

Today it's not clear what these characters are building towards aside from defeat the enemy in their solo stories. With so many characters, it's difficult to see what the thread is combining them, keep track of it all, and have a desire to be a completist watching all the stories.

3. We knew after several movies what the overarching plot was going to be. Basically, the infinity Stones were a thing and a villian named Thanos was going to collect them and threaten the world. Again this further created anticipation for it actually happening.

Compared with today it is not clear what exactly Kang wants to do and how all the characters will be impacted in each story. Kang has been killed twice now (I guess), so we're waiting for a better version of him. And now it's not even certain that Kang will even return at all. The Celestials seemed like they could be a sub threat, but they may just be forgotten and along with Eros and that plot. There's no Loki equivalent at the moment, to be the returning, secondary villain.

The effect of the Infinity gauntlet is limited to the universe from which it resides. However what is to stop the bearer of an Infinity gauntlet from opening portals to other dimensions and while staying within his/her own dimension, creating and sending forth an infinite army to the other dimensions? As long as the armies are comprised of matter, and are in no way empowered by the infinity gems, they should continue to exist and function within other dimensions.

Thoughts? In theory the bearer of the Infinity Gauntlet could conquer the entire multiverse.

I've seen this q posted a few places, but haven't seen a satisfactory answer. Darkseid is on Earth, sees his world beating device (ALE), loses the battle and his Motherboxes, then forgets all about Earth, the Motherboxes, and ALE?

The only somewhat satisfactory response I've seen is that he's been to so many planets and had to leave in such a hurry that he lost the coordinates, or that it was the motherboxes that allowed them to reach Earth in the first place.

This fails as Steppenwolf seems to remember Earth upon arrival (recognizing Amazonians, Humans, Atlantians, Hippolyta, etc.) and given the motherboxes called out, wouldn't Darkseid immediately remember the planet that has the Motherboxes is the same planet where he saw ALE?

The multiverse explanation also fails, as if there are other Earth's which also had Motherboxes (but not ALE), such that they are common, wouldn't Darkseid already have some and not need these 3?

Is there something I am missing? I know we're not supposed to over analyze, but this seems like a silly plot hole, especially on attempt # 2 of the film.

Positive or negative (both probably). Thoughts?

Any good articles or books on the subject? It would be interesting to hear a writers perspective.

@killbilly: That's easy, 99.99% of the population never heard of the Iron Fist before. When the casting was announced, one of 1 in 10,000 people who had wrote an article condemning the decision and it grew from there.

@killbilly: . Google it. Some people were upset with the character, not the adaptation of it. White guy goes to Asia, and becomes the greatest martial artist in the group. They wanted an Asian lead in contrast to the source material.

Regardless of background, they needed at a bare minimum a person with martial arts experience.

Finn Jones was a terrible choice.

None are perfect. Daredevil is probably the best, but only 3 seasons, and the draaaag of the 10 hour movie format can get tedious at times. However the show is technically great, and at it's best moments, is the greatest comic show I've seen

Iron Fist is the worst. Even ignoring the cultural appropriation issues which made headlines, the casting for the lead was bad. Finn Jones was completely unlikable, and his fight scenes were some of the worst I've seen outside of b-movies and comedies. The other contender for worst it defenders, but only because it also contains iron fist as a character.

I like legends of tomorrow for it's silliness as well. Others I can live without.

In the battle forums, there are a lot of scenarios with "Morals Off". This is seemingly to level the odds for good characters, who are limited in what they can do by their conscience, vs. evil characters, who do not have such limitations.

However, I wonder if taking morals away from good characters limits their effectivenesss? After all, good wins most comics in the end as is. If not their morals, what else can explain the lopsided results in favor of good?
