My DC Comics Civil War Lineup

Everyone here is probably aware of the infamous Marvel Civil War event that Marvel Comics published several years ago. The Marvel Civil War is a controversial subject among fans, but nevertheless, many write about what it would be like if DC had a Civil War. While the people of the Marvel Universe do trust their heroes (well, most of their heroes...), but the people of the DC Universe tend to be even more trusting of their heroes. But that does not mean a Registration Act is out of the question. If a series of events were to ultimately lead up to the DC Civil War in a similar fashion to the Marvel Civil War, the Government would most certainly have a Superhuman Registration Act.

This list includes all the heroes and villains I think would go Pro Registration, Anti Registration, and Neutral.

** NOTE: All these characters are their Pre-Flashpoint incarnations.

List items

  • Superman is easily the most moral hero in the DC Universe - and whenever there is a division between heroes in a story, Superman always sides with the Government. So if the DC Universe were to dragged in a Civil War identical to Marvel's, Superman would most defiantly support the Superhuman Registration Act. While he may not be entirely certain about the Act, he will ultimately lead the Pro Registration Side and serve the Iron Man role.

  • As Superman will serve the Iron Man role, Mr. Terrific will serve in the Mr. Fantastic role. According to his calculations, unless a Superhuman Registration Act is passed, all the heroes will engage in total war against the US Government. As a result, Mr. Terrific joins Superman as his second-in-command.

  • While a little reluctant about the Registration Act, Ray Palmer feels that it is necessary. Thus, he goes Pro-Registration and becomes Superman's other second-in-command alongside Mr. Terrific. As a result, Ray Palmer serves the Hank Pym role in the DC Civil War. Wait, if Hank Pym turned out to be a Skrull in the Marvel Civil War...

  • The Guardian has an affiliation with the Science Police. Therefore, it's only natural he'd side with Superman and the Superhuman Registration Act.

  • Amanda Waller is inevitably assigned by the US Government to help the Superhuman Registration Act during the war.

  • Since Amanda Waller has been assigned by the Government to help the Pro Registration Side, it's inevitable that she'll assign the Suicide Squad to the Act. The Suicide Squad play the Thunderbolts role in rounding up Anti-Reg heroes.

  • Ah, Billy. What a young, optimistic, naive hero. Billy Batson has sided with the Government before when he teamed up with Hawkman to capture Superman and Batman and get the $1,000,000,000 reward. As such, Billy decides to join the Government once again and register.

  • As an Air Force pilot, Captain Atom will ultimately register and side with Superman and the Pro Registration Act.

  • While reluctant about the Act, Barry was nevertheless convinced by Superman that the Superhuman Registration Act is necessary and that the other heroes needed commitment. Barry went so far as to unmask himself on live television. However, fighting the fugitive heroes and seeing them imprisoned the Phantom Zone indefiantely will leave a sour taste in Barry's mouth, causing him to defect to the Anti Reg side. As such, Barry Allen serves the Spider-Man role in the war.

  • Hal believes that a Registration Act is necessary. He believes that the Government is doing the right thing by passing it, especially after the past events that led up to it, and that the superhero community will benefit from it. As such, Hal registers and joins the Pro Registration side.

  • Hawkman has sided with the Government before when he teamed up with Captain Marvel to capture Superman and Batman. Hawkman sides with the Government and join the Pro Registration Side.

  • While reluctant about the Act, Hawkgirl joins Hawkman in siding with the Government.

  • As a member of the Marines, John Stewart joins Hal Jordan and sides with the Superhuman Registration Act. At least until an Anti Reg hero meets his end at the hands of the Pro Reg, causing John to defect to the Anti Registration Side.

  • Having been convinced by Hawkman that the Superhuman Registration Act is necessary, Stargirl registers and goes Pro Reg.

  • Uncle Sam, the Spirit of America, is on this team. So it's fairly obvious that he and the others will register and join Superman's forces.

  • Dawn Granger believes that the Superhuman Registration Act will benefit America and help bring peace, so she sides with Superman.

  • Booster Gold is tempted to go to the Anti Registration Side, but he decides to register due to his best friends registering.

  • Since Superman has sided with the Government and is leading the Pro Registration Side, Supergirl will follow her cousin and join as well.

  • Guy Gardner, being a space cop, believes the Superhuman Registration Act is necessary for the Superhero Community and thus joins Hal and John in registering.

  • Being Guy Gardner's girlfriend, Ice will join him and side with Superman and the Registration Act.

  • Seeing Booster Gold and Ice join the Pro Registration Side, Fire follows them and goes Pro Reg as well.

  • As Mr. Terrific serves the Mr. Fantastic role, Power Girl serves the Invisible Woman role. Power Girl initially supports that act, but the death of one of the Anti Reg's members at the hands of the Pro Reg will cause her to defect to the Anti Reg side.

  • While Wally is reluctant about the act, he ultimately joins Barry and sides with Superman and the Act. However, the death of one of the Anti Reg's members at the hands of the Pro Reg will cause him to join Barry, John Stewart, and Power Girl in defecting to the Anti Reg. Wally serves the Human Torch role.

  • Seeing his friend Billy Batson register, Freddy will follow and register as well.

  • Mary Marvel ultimately joins Billy Batson and Freddy Freeman in registering to the government and joining Superman's forces.

  • While reluctant about the act, Firestorm joins the Pro Registration Side out of respect for Superman and Ray Palmer.

  • The Super Young Team wants one thing: popularity. And what better way to get themselves recognized then by joining Superman and the Pro Registration Side?

  • Major Force has sided with the Government once when Lex Luthor hired him to capture Superman and Batman. Major Force will surely side with the Government again during the DC Civil War.

  • The Great Ten are already government-sponsored. It's only logical that they would register and join the Pro Registration side.

  • Well, not Wonder Woman herself. By the time of the DC Civil War, Wonder Woman is presumed dead by the DC Universe. However, Superman, Mr. Terrific, and Ray Palmer create a clone of Wonder Woman to help them in the fight against the Anti Registration Side. However, things go wrong and the clone kills Ryan Choi, a member of the Anti-Registration side. The Wonder Woman clone serves the Ragnarok role.

  • In order to hunt down the Anti Reg heroes, the US Government decide to use villains to help achieve their goal. The Riddler is the first to be recruited to hunt down the Anti-Registration members, as well as the leader of the secret team.

  • Hired by the Government to take down the Anti-Registration.

  • Supporter of the Superhuman Registration Act

  • Supporter of the Superhuman Registration Act

  • Supporter of the Superhuman Registration Act

  • As a colonel in the military, Jake Kane supports the Superhuman Registration Act.

  • Supporter of the Superhuman Registration Act

  • We all know Batman - he is THE street hero. If there is one hero who will never willingly reveal his secret identity, it's Batman. As a result, Batman is against the Superhuman Registration Act. Thus, he is the leader of the Anti-Registration and serves the Captain America role.

  • Green Arrow is a loner hero. There is absolutely no way he will ever register to the Government. As such, he becomes Batman's second-in-command and serves the Luke Cage role.

  • Jamie thinks the Superhuman Registration Act is completely unnecessary and that the Government is out of their minds. As such, Blue Beetle becomes Batman's other second-in-command and serves the Iron Fist role.

  • Superboy may be a clone of Superman, but Superboy disagrees with Superman on the Act. Superboy's opinions on the act are the exact opposite of Superman's opinions. So Superboy shocks everyone by going against Superman and making a brash decision to join the Anti-Registration Side.

  • As Batman's adopted son and first sidekick, Dick Grayson agrees that the Superhuman Registration Act is flat-out ridiculous. As such, he joins forces with his adopted father.

  • Damien, as the son of Bruce Wayne, ultimately sides with his father during the conflict.

  • Aquaman initially tries to stay out the conflict, and does so for the majority of it. But in the end, he serves the Namor role and aids Batman in the final battle against the Pro Reg.

  • As the "Outsiders", it's only logical they would side with Batman.

  • Whereas Hal, John, and Guy are all embracing the Act, Kyle Rayner is not so pleasant with the idea. He thinks that superheroes being FORCED to reveal their secret identities is a bad, bad idea. So while his fellow members of the GLC have gone Pro Reg, Kyle instead decides to join Batman and the Anti Registration Side.

  • Like Dick, Tim is Batman's adopted son and was his sidekick for quite some time. As a result, it makes perfect sense that Tim, like most of DC's street heroes, is siding with Batman instead of Superman.

  • Jay Garrick has already dealt with the Government trying to force him to reveal his identity - and he chose the retirement option instead. With that being in 1951, Jay certainly does not like the idea half a century later. While it pains him that he'll be fighting against Barry Allen and Wally West, Jay Garrick is joining Batman and the Anti-Registration Side.

  • Like his dear friend Jay, Alan has had to deal with the Government trying to get his identity by force before. Like Jay, he certainly hasn't warmed up to the idea even today. While he is reluctant to fight his fellow heroes, Alan joins Jay in siding with Batman.

  • Kent, like his friends Jay and Alan, has dealt with something similar to the Superhuman Registration Act. And like Jay and Alan, he still despises the idea today. Dr. Fate believes the act will completely destroy the superhero community. As such, he goes Anti Reg and sides with Batman.

  • Like his three friends listed above, Wildcat has dealt with something similar to the Superhuman Registration Act. Of course, it wasn't as drastic, but still. Wildcat HATES the SHRA - he believes it to be far worse than the situation in 1951. As such, Wildcat joins Jay, Alan, and Kent in siding with Batman and the Anti-Registration Side.

  • Whereas Ray Palmer supports the Superhuman Registration Act, Ryan Choi is against it. Ryan Choi joins forces with Batman and serves the Goliath role of the DC Civil War. As in, he is killed by the Wonder Woman clone, which changes the course of the war.

  • Bart doesn't want to fight his uncle and his grandfather, but he simply doesn't like the Superhuman Registration Act. While he does not want to fight against Wally and Barry, Bart is standing by his opinion and joining the Anti Registration Side.

  • Wonder Girl finds the SHRA to be ugly and pointless, so she refuses to register and joins the Anti Registration Side. As the leader of the Teen Titans, she gets the rest of her team to follow. She is particularly disgusted by the Wonder Woman clone the Pro Regs have created.

  • Believing the SHRA to be an act of xenophobic stupidity, Black Canary follows Green Arrow and sides with Batman and the Anti Registration Side.

  • Roy Harper ultimately follows Green Arrow, Black Canary, Nightwing, and Cyborg by joining Batman and the Anti Registration Side

  • Solstice, being a member of the Teen Titans, is convinced by Wonder Girl to join Batman and the Anti Registration Side. However, she soon comes to the belief that Batman's little resistance was a mistake and defects to Superman and the Pro Registration Side.

  • Seeing Cyborg, Nightwing, and Red Arrow join the Anti Registration Side, Donna Troy follows and joins Batman as well.

  • Like her friend, Black Canary, Barbara finds the SHRA to be an act of xenophobic stupidity. So she ultimately sides with her mentor, Batman, and the Anti Regs.

  • Like her fellow members of the Batman family, Batwoman despises the SHRA and refuses to reveal her identity. As a result, she follows the rest of the Batman family to the Anti Registration Side.

  • While his partner, Dawn Granger, is supporting the Superhuman Registration Act, Hank Hall is most certainly against it. There is absolutely no way that he will register and give his secret identity to the Government. So while Dove is on Superman's side of the conflict, Hawk is a fierce member of Batman's side.

  • Jason Todd didn't really care for the Civil War at first - until the Pro Registration Side began using villains like the Riddler, Solomon Grundy, and Cheetah. Outraged by the fact that they would make a move like that, Jason Todd ends up joining Batman's forces, but later gets kicked out of the group after he kills Goldface, Ultra-Humanite, Calculator, Mr. Freeze, and Gorilla Grodd. So Jason Todd serves the Punisher role.

  • Seeing the majority of her friends go Anti Reg, Starfire follows and joins Batman as well.

  • Seeing the Batman family refusing to register and joining the Anti Registration Side, Catwoman decides to follow them and join the Anti Registration Side herself.

  • Being a street hero, Huntress naturally sides with the Anti Registration Side instead of the Pro Registration Side.

  • Sharing his father's views on the Superhuman Registration Act, Tomact joins Wildcat in siding with the Anti Registration Force

  • Believing the Superhuman Registration Act to be too controlling and not liking the idea of the Government telling him who his villains are, Beast Boy joins his fellow Titans in the Anti Registration Side.

  • Seeing Kyle Rayner and Alan Scott join Batman's resistance, Jade follows her boyfriend and father by joining Batman as well.

  • Like his fellow street heroes, the Question despises the Superhuman Registration Act and will never register - thus cementing his membership on Batman's side.

  • Zatanna would not register to the Government and join the Pro Registration Side. Instead, she follows her friends to the Anti Registration Side.

  • Not liking the idea of the Government telling him what to do, Ambush Bug almost immediately joins the Anti Registration Side.

  • Obsidian inevitably follows his father, Alan Scott, to the Anti Registration Side.

  • Sandy Hawkins believes that the Superhuman Registration Act will result in the enslavement of all mankind. As such, he quickly joins Batman and the Anti Registration Side.

  • Raven does not want to be controlled again after the last time she was controlled. Therefore, she goes to the Anti Registration Side so that the Government won't control her.

  • As a member of the Teen Titans, Danny the Street follows his team members to the Anti Registration Side.

  • Animal Man does not trust the Superhuman Registration Act - he believes it will destroy the future of the DC Universe. Therefore, he joins Batman and the Anti Registration Side.

  • As a street hero and member of the Bat Family, Cassandra Cain follows Batman, Nightwing, and Barbara Gordon to join the Anti Registration Side.

  • There is no way Stephanie Brown is going to register for the Government - as the protege of Barbara Gordon and a member of the Batman Family, she instead goes to the Anti Registration Side.

  • Static is tempted to join the Pro Registration Side, but he trusts Batman and the Anti Regs a bit more. As such, instead of registering to the Government and joining Superman, Static chooses to join Batman in the Anti Registration Side.

  • Seeing Bart Allen, Cassandra, and Kon-El join the Anti Registration Side, Secret decides to follow them and joins the Anti Registration Side as well.

  • Like Static, Congorilla is tempted to join the Pro Registration Side. However, he finds that he trusts the Anti Registration Side a bit more and proceeds to join them instead of registering to the Government.

  • As Batman's butler, Alfred will support Batman and the Anti Registration Side during the DC Civil War

  • Supporter of the Anti-Registration Side

  • Supporter of the Anti-Registration Side

  • Supporter of the Anti-Registration Side

  • Supporter of the Anti-Registration Side

  • Martian Manhunter refuses to get involved in the conflict. J'onn finds the conflict idiotic, but is afraid that the conflict could result in the destruction of Earth, and he doesn't want to be a part of that. So J'onn serves the Dr. Strange role and stays neutral in a remote area during the war.
