Comicbook Suggestions, Recommendations and Must Reads

I've been reading comics ever since I can remember, and with age have been getting into them more with me hitting my peak this year.
My enthusiasm and passion for comics has started to rub off onto my friends, one in particular.
I've already suggested him to read certain series and story arcs of Spider-man and Venom, since that is what he loves,
but what else can I suggest. recommend and tell him is a must read?
 
oh and keep it Marvel please, he hasn't come around to DC...yet!
