@Sexy Merc: Yeah, it's really hard--sometimes impossible-- to find an actor who can do justice to our heroes.

@MKF30: My whole point is Superman fans have no right to say another character is unoriginal.  Superman himself is a ripoff of Hugo Danner from the book Gladiator by Philip Wylie.

In the early years of his super-heroic career, Superman was not endowed with the power of flight. Although he possessed superhuman speed, he moved from place to place by running or by executing gigantic leaps. Month by month, however, Superman's running speed increased, along with the length of his leaps and the complexity of the aerial maneuvers he was able to perform once he had left the ground. The transition from leaping to actual flying was extraordinarily gradual and was punctuated with a great deal of inconsistency. Not until May 1943 is Superman explicitly referred to as a "being who can fly like a bird" and not until later that same year can it be said, without qualification, that Superman actually possesses the power of flight.

Captain Thunder aka Captain Marvel was created in 1939, and one of his earliest powers was flight (via Mercury). He had super strength and flight in combination 3-4 years before Superman did.
Why doesn't anyone call Superman a Hugo Danner clone or a Captain Marvel wannabe? Because it's f%C*ing insulting. Hugo Danner is his own man. Superman is his own man. Captain Marvel is his own man. Superior is his own man. They all have their own personalities and histories.

Why don't people call Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, or Thor  Superman clones? My guess is that it's fun for some people to belittle new characters like Blue Marvel or Sentry, but no one would try to do that to someone as old as Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel.

If he didn't have a cape, i bet fewer people would call Superior a Superman clone. You know what Superman's look isn't even original. He looks like a 1930s circus strongman. I guess Millar is making fun of that by making Supeior look like a Wrestler.

Another question I have is, why is there only a "Superman Clone" label? No one says Daredevil, Black Panther, or Moon Knight are Batman clones. No one says Songbird, Halo, and Nova are Green Lantern clones. No one says Elongated Man, Madam Rouge, and Plastic man are Mr. Fantastic clones. No one says Quicksilver, Speed, and Hotstreak are Flash clones. Why do people feel the need to use the term "Superman clone"? It's f***ing shameless IMO.

It seems like not too many people appreciate good ol' Cyke. Especially Emma, Jean, and Storm fangirls.

Absolutely. It would be cool if he were a conspiracy theorist like on JLU.

@oiHooliganismoi: Wonder Woman can fly. At light speed too, I think. She just has an invisible Jet for $h!t$ and giggles.

I'm not saying Superman doesn't deserve respect. He was the first in the medium, but that doesn't mean that characters like Superior need to be thrown under the bus as ripoffs. They're different in the most important ways. People don't seem to understand that most characters have someone else with the same powers, i.e. Mr. Fantastic, Madam Rouge, Plastic man, Elongated man, etc. But no one says anything about that. I just think the Superman clone label is ironic, since he's kind of a ripoff in some ways himself.

We don't need to dislike everyone who has super strength, flight, and a cape to prop up how great Superman is. Everyone knows he's great.

First of all, Marvel isn't making him. He's creator owned by Mark Millar.

Second, If he's a clone of anyone it's Captain Marvel, since Superior is actually a kid in a wheelchair.

Third, I hate this idea of labeling characters a "Superman clone" because of their powers. Do you have any idea of how many characters can fly and have super strength? Wonder Woman, Thor, Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel (Shazam), Miracle Man, Black Adam, Sentry, Blue Marvel, Icon, Martian Manhunter, Powerboy, Supernova, Captain Atom, Hyperion, Namor, Silver Surfer, Iron Man, Nova, Invincible, Omniman, Bulletproof, Rocket, Monet, Ms. Marvel, Wonderman, Vision, Ares, War Machine, Valkyrie, Captain Planet, Ultraboy, Astroboy, Andromeda, Sodam Yat, Noh-Varr, Titan, the Plutonian, and I could go on and on and on. They don't have the same origin, personality, and/or motivations as Superman, so they aren't Superman clones. None of those people were the last of a dying race, and got shuttled down to Earth to live in Kansas. They don't work for a newspaper and aren't weak to kryptonite. They don't have 50 breath and vision powers.

Fourth, if we're talking about clones, then Superman himself is a ripoff. The early Superman is based on a character named Hugo Danner in the book Gladiator by Philip Wylie. Look it up. Superman isn't even the first comic book character to have flight and super strength in combination. Originally all he could do was jump and lift stuff. There are other heroes who were flying and lifting stuff before Superman got a power boost. So stop being so self righteous.
