Bane has a complicated, deep backstory, a incredible motivation for going after Batman, and is incredibly intelligent, and powerful. He also broke the bat, and brought us Knightfall, KNIGHTFALL! Nuff said.

I like Riddler, because of how narcissistic and intelligent he is. I primarily like him because of how he is in the Arkham games, especially Arkham City, in which I feel he is pretty much the main villain, think about it, he has his own sidequest, all the Riddler secrets and all the Riddler challenges, he pretty much fuels the after game of Arkham City.

Jason is a incredibly effective villain due to how he used to be Robin and came back as a villain which sort of messes up Batman in a way, which I find makes him a effective villain, especially in Battle For The Cowl when he puts on the cape and cowl and taints Batmans name.

Batman dresses as a bat to install fear into the hearts of cowardly criminals, Scarecrow uses his fear toxin to install fear into pretty much everyone, which makes him a great villain because he uses the same sort of method as the hero. Also read KnightFall Volume 1, his team up with Joker, that was the shit, I also really enjoyed his storyline God Of Fear.

At first I didn't like Hugo Strange because I fond him very bland and generic, that is until I read Batman Arkham City ( Comic ), holy shit I was wrong. Hugo's plan to take over and control Quincy Sharp? Excellent. WARNING SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!! Until they decided to ruin it by having Ras Al Ghul stab him in the back at the last second!
