@theamazingspidey: Yeah, pretty much. I think that part of it is that, back then, Drake had something to prove, and he had to show that he wasn't some mediocre singer in the rap game.
I still remember the "Young Money" Drake, that was pretty much the precursor to Take Care, which progressed into NWTS. The problem, I think, is that he's let success get to him too much. I mean, he definitely is the most profitable rapper of our generation (or that we've seen, like ever), but it kinda seems like he fell off. However, he's still in the prime of his success, almost, so it's like he can release mediocre garbage and the vast majority of people will like it and eat it up without question. He can't do that forever, though.
I do like some things by recent Drake, though (like his cover of "These Days"). His upcoming work doesn't really give me much hope, either
