@caladorcp: besides the eyes, what makes it look like an anime??

Not much. But it's the eye's that are a problem for me. That's one of the prominent differences between anime and other styles of animation, the face. That's what annoy's me. I just don't care for it.

This actually doesn't upset me. Higgins' run has been solid, but nothing spectacular. I'm excited to see who else will get their hands on it.

Seriously!? NO mention of scarlet spider!!??

SCARLET SPIDER #25

No Caption Provided

You know that time Darth Vader held out his arms and screamed an extended "NO" at the top of his lungs? Yes, it was unintentionally funny, but more to the point, that's pretty much how I feel about this FINAL issue of SCARLET SPIDER. This book has been without question the premiere source of popcorn entertainment at Marvel. Always thrilling, always action packed, and always doing a great job with its cast, it's a real shame to see this series pack its bags and head off into the sunset. Sure, we know Kaine and Aracely have a future at the publisher with the upcoming NEW WARRIORS series, but this so sad to see this one go. Here's hoping writer Christopher Yost has the room he needs to wrap up the clone's fantastic ongoing while also teasing the character's future. You'll be missed, SCARLET SPIDER.

Check out the Preview Theatre video for this issue.

It's there...lol. Just gotta read between the lines.

Is this series any good? I've recently become obsessed with the new cartoon so I'm interested in checking this out. Also I really like the art on this issue, it's really solid. Good energy, detail, character, and compositions.

Oh my gosh yes! This series is great. Both the writing and art are spot on. I highly recommend picking it up. :)

But keep in mind, Campbell is drawing that way purposely. He means it too look like that, so it really isn't crap. He succeeded in making it look that way, therefore, he did a really good job. Just because you don't like his art, doesn't mean it's bad.

Succeeding at making something bad does not make it good.

Whatever man...be a-hole then. I don't care. You're still wrong.

We'll have to disagree.

I guess you have the right to disagree...

I like this art. Ross Campbell's style looks good on this title in my opinion.

I liked his art in the Leo issue of the Micro-Series too.

I'm always hesitant to say art is "bad". Just because someone doesn't like it, doesn't mean it's bad. They just don't like it. If Campbell was trying to draw Leo, and it didn't resemble a turtle, then maybe I'd say it was bad. But this is not "bad" art.

Sometimes I like to see some switch-ups with an art team anyway. It can help keep things fresh.

And I'm sure Mateus will be back eventually.

In the back of issue 28: "We're also changing artists for the arc to give Mateus a break. I hope you'll join me in welcoming Ross Campbell."

Sounds like he'll be back. But for right now, I think I'm going to enjoy Ross Campbell's art. :)

Man...I wish we got more of this stuff in the series. And I wish there were some longer stretching arcs. Yost just kept throwing out small pieces at a time, which was fun, but I would have liked to see more character development and more stories that really push Kaine's boundaries.

I liked every minute of this series (and will probably like the last two issues as well) but there's part of me that wishes someone else had written it. Someone who would have done a little more...

Kaine's such a great character. He just needs the stories to show that.

that doesn't make sense

What doesn't make sense?

Saying you wished it was someone else that wrote the book, Yost basically made Kaine who he is now, he's the reason the book was good in the first place.

It makes perfect sense. Just because Yost did a good job doesn't mean I can't think someone else could have done better.

Yea but then Kaine would be completely different as a character

Not necessarily. If his setup and such was the same, just like it was in Spider Island, and then someone else wrote the series...

Anyway, it doesn't matter. It's canceled. I can see your point, but it's not entirely impossible for him to be the same or at least similar with someone else writing him.
