@GothamRed: absolutely YES on the Justice League themes.

@Bestostero: And a big old YES on this one too. Perfectly describes Batman's relationship to Gotham.

This is going to be amazing! Two of my favorite things together. Incredible!

Now bring on the Star Wars crossover.

@ArturoCalaKayVee: Hmmm, interesting and valid points. The whole good guy with bad guy intentions thing is interesting. I think this is what makes him one of my favorite characters, he is complex. His goals are hard to argue with- the man wants peace and order in the galaxy, this is a noble aim. However he goes about it all wrong. Eliminating freedom and ruling through fear are unforgivable, which kind of still makes him a villain in my eyes. The Green Lantern Corps are selfless, their duty is to protect their sector, not eliminate all evil through eliminating choice and then enslave the population (twice, in Sinestro's case).

I think the basic question is to ask does Sinestro meet some of the basic GL qualifications? Willpower? Absolutely. No fear? Hrrm, thats tricky. As creator of the Sinestro he has had more experience with fear than anyone, and while he was controlling that fear he had to have been tainted by it. I think we are going to see more of that as the arc progresses. GL # 5 had some interesting stuff in it that pertains to this conversation- I liked how Sinestro said he was not worthy of adulation. Thats a step in the right direction.

@Avenging-X-Bolt: @ArturoCalaKayVee: I mean, I love Sinestro too, but as a villain. He is one of the greatest villains in the DCU, but in my mind he has never been a hero. All this stuff that is happening in GL right now is making him out to be more heroic. He isn't a hero! He abused his power, which is why I get seriously bummed when people call him the greatest green lantern. Can he use the ring more effectively than Hal? Sure. And he has shown it in the current run. But that does not make him the greatest GL, Hal is because of the things he did with the ring. Which is why I seriously miss him as Earth's GL.

And waitaminute- if Hal is not Earth's GL anymore, is it just John?

@Avenging-X-Bolt: so if I want to experience more changes to the GL Universe I need to go to Corps or Gaurdians. And I had no idea that GL is officially Sinestro's book... I am not sure that I am okay with that. At all.

@ArturoCalaKayVee: see, I was excited to start reading Batman. I had fallen out of step with him pre-FP, but the New 52 gave me a good jumping in point. I am just reading Batman (not Detective Comics or anything else focused solely on him) and it seems that there is none of that pre-FP guff in there (no Batman, Inc., no mention of the Omega Sanction) just an awesome story with the Court of Owls. But GL seems to have zero changes, and it was a bit disappointing. Its the first time I have ever been disappointed with GL, so it was a big deal for me

Good question- there are two examples from current GL comics that would suggest two different answers.

1- shortly after the events of Rebirth, Hal is driving with Batman to take down the tattooed man. To teach Hal a lesson, Bruce swerves the car and BANG, Hal hits his head pretty darn hard against the window. This was right after he was bragging about how he will never be more protected than when he is wearing the ring (note: he was even wearing the ring and in "GL mode" at the time).

2- In Secret Origin #2 Hal is flying his plane when Sinestro appears before him. Hal's plane smacks into Sinestro and you think he would have died since the plane completely exploded, but Hal emerged in his GL uniform unscathed.

I think the answer is that the rings move at the speed of thought, which is almost 'subconscious fast'. If Guy was walking down the street and he heard a gunshot, his mind might pull up a protective aura in time to deflect the bullet.
