PETER PARKER THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #56 0

This classic issue of the Spectacular Spider-Man from 1981 was written by the great Roger Stern and drawn by Jim Mooney. I love this old school Spider-Man issue. I actually just read this today from the Essential Spectacular Spider-Man vol.3. This issue has the first ever fight between Spidey and the original Jack O'Lantern! The Jack O'Lantern has always been a favorite baddie of mine even though he's always been pretty much a big joke. I don't know what to say. I think its because i just love t...

X-MEN LEGACY #240 0

"Collision" part 3. This is written by Mike Carey and drawn by Clay Mann. I actually just started picking this series up with issue #238. I have to say i loved this series from the first issue i read. The same time i started picking this up i also started picking up the rest of the X titles. And this tittle is by my favorite of them all. The Writing is very good, and the art is excellent. I love how we get Magneto and Rogue on the front stage on this title. Rogue has always been one of my favori...

FANTASTIC FOUR #582 0

Another great issue by Hickman and Edwards! In the beginning of this comic we have a college age Reed Richards, Ben Grim, and Victor Von Doom along with Nathanial Richards batteling an evil, alternate reality Nathanial Richards! Of all the Nathanial Richards's that ever existed these two are the last alive. ( last issue we found out that the evil Nathanial Richards killed all the others) The evil Nathan gives the four a hell of a fight, but in the end he gets his head smashed in by the young Vic...

NAMOR THE FIRST MUTANT #1 0

"Royal Blood" part 1. This is written by Stuart Moore and drawn by Ariel Olivetti. When i first heard about this new Namor on-going series coming out i was pretty excited. I must admit i've never been a Namor fan, but after the Marvels Project mini-series i became a huge Namor fan. Namor was done very well in that mini-series, and i instantly wanted more of the character. So saying i was excited about this on-going is a big understatement. The beginning of this comic we see Namor talking to an o...

DETECTIVE COMICS #867 1

"Imposters" part 1. This is written by David Hine and drawn by Scott McDaniel(ugh!). I'm sure you noticed my disgusted "Ugh" sound, so let me explain. The art in this comic completely sucked! I mean it was just awful! Every panel seemed rushed, and to me it seemed like McDaniel's didn't care how his art looked. Once again... Ugh! The story here was pretty decent, but it wasn't great enough to overpower the crappy artist. This issue of Detective Comics was actually the first issue of this series ...

AVENGERS #2 0

Issue 2 in this new Avengers series didn't impress me much. I really loved the first issue, but something about this issue just didn't feel right with me. I have to say that the story by Brian Bendis was pretty good, i actually like where he's taking this series so far. The art on the other hand... What can i say, the art just looked rushed, and the characters were just badly drawn. I've always liked John Romita Jr's art, but now it seems that his style is devolving. I mean his art in Amazing Sp...

AMAZING SPIDERMAN #635(SPOILERS!!) 0

"Grim Hunt" part 2. This is written by the great Joe Kelly and drawn by Michael Lark. This issue is by far, better then the previous issue! Alot happens in this comic, and i have to say i was very, very satisfied with this. In this issue we get another spider character mixed up in the Grim Hunt mess. Arana! The Kravinovs go after the young spider girl, but Spider-Man and  Julia Carpenter come to her aid. But after the battle is over the Kravinovs manage to capture Julia and Arana and escape! Kai...

BATMAN THE LONG HALLOWEEN #4 0

This is written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Tim Sale. Issue number 4 is titled "New Years Eve". December. New Years Eve. Almost midnight. This issue starts out with the Joker killing some people and stealing a small plane, with which he plans on killing everyone in Gotham square at midnight. In doing this he figures he might kill Holiday, who just might be in Gotham square with everyone else to celebrate the New Years. Just as Joker escapes with the plane Batman arrives to catch a ride on said pla...

BATMAN THE LONG HALLOWEEN #3 0

The Long Halloween issue 3 written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Tim Sale. This issue is titled "Christmas" and begins with the Joker terrorizing Gotham city again! December. In the beginning of this comic we see Joker robbing a family on Christmas Eve! What an ass! The dude just doesn't have a heart. After that we see Batman and Gordon at Arkham Asylum talking with the Calander Man, who also kills by the calander. Batman and Gordon think that Calander Man might be able to help them nab the "Holiday...

AMAZING SPIDERMAN-MAN #634 0

"The Grim Hunt" part 1. Written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Michael Lark. I could describe this issue with two words: F#@*%n' Awesome!!! This issue was excellent. I do not think this could have been better written or drawn. Kelly writes a fantastic story here, and Lark draws some amazing scenes. This issue starts off pretty fast paced, with Kaine banging on Peter Parker's door, beat the hell out of, warning Peter that "their hunting spiders". Pete takes Kaine inside his apartment to help the clone...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #633(SPOILER) 0

"Shed" conclusion. Written by Zeb Wells and drawn by Chris Bachalo. The story starts off with people, in the direct vecinity surrounding the Lizard, going crazy and killing each other. The Lizard had done something to the peoples minds causing them to be violent. Spider-Man shows up to play the hero once again thankfully. He had drank a serum which had kept Curt Connors from becoming the Lizard, so the Lizards mind effect would not cause him to go feral. Spidey confronts the Lizard and trys to t...

BATMAN THE LONG HALLOWEEN #2 0

Part 2 of the mega series The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. This issue is titled, "Thanksgiving". November. In the beginning of this issue we have Batman and James Gordon grilling a small time crook by the name of Mickey Sullivan. Bats and Gordon have evidence that Mickey was behind the murder of the Dent's last issue. Mickey isn't the only one they have behind bars for the murder though. They also have the rest of Mickey Sullivan's gang "The Irish", Donny Boy Sullivan, Jimmy Slick, ...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #14 0

Written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko. This issue marks the first appearence of my all time favorite villian, the green Goblin! The beginning of this comic we have the Green Goblin meeting up with the Enforcers to plan Spider-Man's defeat! They come up with a plan that involves tricking Spidey into coming to New Mexico to star in his own movie. Which he's told he will be paid $50,000. Our hero agrees to be in the movie since he and his aunt May really need the money. When arriving in New ...

BATMAN THE LONG HALLOWEEN #1 0

The Long Halloween issue #1 by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. This first issue titeled "Crime" starts out with Bruce Wayne having a conversation with Carmine "The Roman" Falcone at his nephew, Johnny Vitti's wedding. Bruce tells Carmine that he would not allow his money to be laundered through his bank. After that conversation we see Harvey Dent(then District Attorney) sneeking around the parking garage at the wedding writing down the car's license plates. He gets caught in the act and gets beat down a...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #11 0

This classic issue is written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko. In this comic we see Doc Ock being released from prison after being captured by Spidey back in issue #3. After being released we get a pretty big surprise. Peter Parker's girlfriend at the time, Betty Brant is the person to pick him up from jail upon his release. Spidey see's all this and puts a spider tracer on Betty's car so he can find them later.(note: this issue actually has the first appearence of the spider tracer) Later ...

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #11 0

"Tainted Love" part 3 by Brian Bendis and David Lafuente. This issue, since the second volume started, is by far my favorite issue yet! I mean this comic has a really good story and Lafuente's art is growing on me. I might even go as far as saying i like his art. I didn't think i'd ever say that. But if you go back and look at the first issue of this volume and look at this issue you can def see how his art style is evolving. And Peter Parker's head doesn't look crazy now like it did before. Lol...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #25 0

This issue is written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko. Here we get the first appearence of Spencer Smythe and the Spider-Slayer. In my opinion this is a really great comic. I've heard others say that this is a cheesy issue and that they didn't enjoy reading this, but everyone has their own opinions. In this issue we see J.J.Jameson and Spencer Smythe send a Spider-Slayer after Spider-Man. J.J.Jameson and Smythe actually almost manage to defeat Spidey here. Spidey gets caught by the Slayer a...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #20 0

Here it is! The issue with the first appearence of the Scorpion. In this we also get his origin story, which is pretty rad. This comic is written by Stan Lee and drawn by one of my favorite artist Steve Ditko. I really enjoyed reading this issue. The story is great and the art is just fantastic. What i like the most about this issue is is that the Scorpion is not made out to be a joke. He's actually a threat to be reckoned with here. I don't know why, but in later appearences he's made out to be...

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #10 0

"Tainted Love" part 2. This is written by Brian Bendis and drawn by David Lafuente. This, by far, is my favorite issue out of this 2nd volume of Ultimate Spider-Man so far. We get a cool story here, and the arts not too bad. Even though i'm still not loving Lafuente's art. At the beginning of this issue we have the feds at Peter and his amazing friends school to take Kitty Pryde away for her being a mutant. Such Bigotry! It's disgusting! Kong Harlan won't have it though, and he hits one of the f...

"Shed" part 3. Written by Zeb Wells and drawn by Chris Bachalo. After picking up this issue and reading it i was completely satisfied. First off check out the cover to this issue. Wow! This is by far my favorite cover of Amazing Spider-Man since "Brand New Day". After you manage to pry yourself from the cover and turn through the first couple pages you get more great scenes. We see Spidey discover Billy Connors dead body. (The Lizard killed his son last issue by the way) With Billy being just fr...

FANTASTIC FOUR #579 0

This issue is written by Jonathan Hickman and drawn by Neil Edwards. The writing on this comic is just as amazing as it has been since Hickman began writing this series. The dude is just an excellent writer. I'm not sure how much i like Edwards art, but i guess it's a style that would grow on you. So i won't critisize his art work too much, having only laid eyes on his work in this comic. There's not much that goes on in this issue, but we do see Alex from the Power Pack move into the Baxter bui...

SECRET AVENGERS #1 1

The first issue of the Secret Avengers finally arrives! The great Ed Brubaker writes for this series and we get the privelage of seeing Mike Deodato Jr draw this series. The combination of Brubaker and Deodato Jr is fantastic. No other two creators could have made this such a good comic. I have to say i have been looking forward to this series coming out, and i wasn't disappointed when i picked this up. This was the first comic off my pull list that i picked up this week and read.(even though i'...

"Next Avengers" part 1 by Brian Bendis and John Romita Jr. This was the first comic out of my pull list this week that i read. My opinon on the issue? This comic was fantastic. It had a great beginning story, and the art is amazing. Love this! Love this! Love this! In the beginning of this issue we see the next generation of Avengers beating some ass! THE MARVELS PROJECT #8 1

The conclusion of this great mini series by Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting. This series, from start to finish, was amazingly written and the art was just fantastic. I don't think anyone could have told the retelling of the Marvel universe as well as Brubaker and Epting. In the beginning of this issue we see Namor finally join right side by fighting alongside Captain America and Bucky.   Namor progressed very well in this series, as did all the characters in this lil' drama. We also see the horror ...

DARK AVENGERS #16 0

This issue marks the final issue in this wonderful series. I have to say that i'm very disappointed to see this series end. It was bound to happen i know, but that doesn't make it any less sad. Brian Bendis and Mike Deodato Jr gave us 16 fantastic issues so i guess we should be grateful for that. This title did what no other comic has ever done(besides Thunderbolts), and thats giving us a team of Baddies led by the one and only Norman Osborn and giving these guys their own comic! The Fantastic Four are there, also Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, a few X-Men, and his best friend Scout. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #631 0

"Shed" part 2 written by Zeb Wells and drawn by Chris Bachalo and Emma Rios. Wells is def writing a great arc here, but i have to say i just didn't like Bachalo's art in this issue. I mean there were a couple panels that was alright, but the majority of the art in this comic didn't do it for me. But let me get to the story. In the beginning of this comic(drawn by Emma Rios) we have a scene involving none other then Peter Parkers clone Kaine, and he has a run in with Ana Kravinov. I have to say K...

ULTIMATE COMICS NEW ULTIMATES #2 0

"Thor Reborn" part 2. Another great issue by Jeph Loeb and Frank Cho. Jeph Loeb writes a good Ultimates team here, but i'm most impressed by Frank Cho's art. It's just...wow. He draws these characters so well. He adds his own special touch to these hero's. I'm loving this series mostly because of his art. But enough praise for Frank Cho. This issue starts out with Captain America and Valkyrie having a heated arguement. This Ultimate version of Cap def has more attitude this his 616 counterpart. ...

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #630 0

"Shed" part 1. This is written by Zeb Wells and drawn by Chris Bachalo. This was a pretty good first issue in this arc. Zeb Wells writes a good jumping on story, and some of Chris Bachalo's art in this is decent. I have to admit i'm not a very big fan of his art, but i did like this comic. In this issue we see some interesting developments between Spidey and the Black Cat, and between Peter and Carlie Cooper. Will Carlie Cooper end up being Peter Parker's new love interest? Who knows. "Prime Elements" part 4. Another great issue by Jonathan Hickman and Dale Eaglesham. In this we see the 4th and final city that is supposed to go to war against each other. The prison in the Negative Zone that Reed created during the Civil War has now become a city. I won't say too much about this issue so as to not to spoil things for others, but i will say Johnny Storm has a lil solo adventure in this. And we get to see some offspring of Annihilus. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #46 1

This issue is written by Stan "The Man" Lee and drawn by John Romita Sr. In this fantastic comic we meet the Shocker for the first time! We see Spidey going up against this villian with one arm in a sling and trys to stop him from stealing some money. Man o' man what a mistake on the web heads part. Part 2 in this 3 part arc by the great Roger Stern and Lee Weeks. Once again the art looks fantastic. Just like last issue. The story picks up tremdously in this issue. We have Spidey saving Juggys butt from the new Captain Universe. One of favorite scenes in this issue is when Cap Universe tosses Juggy and the slab he's lying on into the sky, with Spidey along for the ride. That was really cool. This is the final issue in this arc. Mark Millar and Carlos Pacheco did a great job on this issue. We get to see the Red Skull and the Avengers go at and Captain America finally comes face-to-face with his son for the first time since issue 1. Cap comes into the fight ready to end the Skulls rampage once and for all, by impaling his son on a jet. That scene was pretty awesome. The Skull wasn't killed by being impaled though, that job gets done by the new Wasp. At the end of this issue we see the...

I've never really read any previous S.H.I.E.L.D. comics in the past, but i'd have to say that this comic was well did. TEEN TITANS #81 0

This issue is written by Felicia D. Henderson and drawn by Joe Bennett. Bennetts art is really good in this comic, and pretty much any comic he draws looks great. But i'm not so sure about Henderson's writing, but i guess it's growing on me. In this issue we have Wonder Girl, Aqua Girl, Bombshell, and Static being held prisoner by Holocaust and his people. And it doesn't look good for them. Looks like there might be no way of escaping their tormenters. We also have the rest of the Teen Titans st...
