Could Superior Spider-Man go on forever?

This question has baffled me for quite some time now. Could Otto remain as the wall crawler?

Since Otto eliminated Peter Parker's ''ghost'' from his mind, Otto has had full control over his actions. Could Otto's run as Spider-Man never end? I have come to the conclusion that Otto CAN stay as Spidey forever because Miles Morales will become the ''likable Spidey''. (If you didn't know that the Ultimate Universe was gonna end and MM would be sent to 616, sorry to be the one to let you know :/)

No I don't think that's gonna happen, but it's possible. If so though its something I'll absolutely detest, Superior has become the first comic book I read for the sole purpose of rooting against the title character.

But I'm betting that Superior will be replaced as soon as Slott leaves, this was his crazy idea and I doubt the next writer will respect his decision.

It could happen but I highly doubt it. Peter will come back in some way, shape, or form. For better or worse the status quo is always eventually maintained no matter how long it takes.

@dctv3363: Yes that's what I hate most about comics, I'd actually rather peter stay dead then for the status quo stay the same for all of eternity.

I don't think he can. He's too obvious to pretend to be Peter for very long, and once the MU at large found out he's Ock they'd probably string him up. And if he did, Marvel's reputation would never get out of the hole it's in now. Sales might continue, the business might do well, but the hate would go on and on and on among fans.

@acer51: Yeah, its pretty annoying at times. They should at least wait a while before they do it, to give the allusion that something changed!

I had an idea when Peter comes back, Otto still exists in Peter's mind. Like an Otto ghost. :D

I love it and want him to stay

Posted by Bloxxeh

@dondave: It'd be awesome if he could.

@acer51: I'd assume that Slott will be the one that ends Superior.

Why would you assume that?

Slott will probably be writing Spider-Man for several years and I don't think this series is going to be around that long. I'm sure he has some idea of how the book is going to end as well

Won't last more than a year.

No, probably not

Nah, there are too many people who want Peter back.

But wait, Ultimate's ending? :/ I love the new Ultimate Spider-Man series.

Posted by Bloxxeh

@geekbait: Me too. I hear it's ending due to low sales. :(

@bloxxeh: I'm going to cry. Ultimate is far better than Superior in my opinion. I liked the first five or so issues of Superior but I'm bored of it now.

How are they going to bring Miles to 616, though? Will it be like Spider-Men where he comes into 616, or will it be a new Miles? It would be interesting to see the 1610 Miles come to 616 and realize something is wrong with Peter. Although I am interested in seeing why Peter looked so surprised at the end of Spider-Men when he looked up if they had a Miles Morales in 616.

With three more movies for Amazing Spider-Man slated, I'm sure it won't last. It's fun though, I genuinely dislike Ock and have never found myself waiting for something to blow up in someone's face like this before.

Bendis has gotten pretty angry at people who are claiming the Ultimate universe is ending. I honestly think that they're just going to reboot it

@bloxxeh:

Yeah man, I actually ENJOY the fact that every issue Otto's arrogance and self-proclaimed "superiority" irk me so much. But that is what good, well written villains do right? Make us hate them?

I just view it as the "Superior Spider-Arc". Otto will get his, for now I enjoy the ride.

I hope not...

Please, no. It was an interesting idea at first but this can only go on for so long...

I don't know how long Slott will stay on the book but I guarantee that he has the whole thing planned out...at least outlined...there's no way that the higher ups at Marvel would agree to his Superior pitch without him having the end at least somewhat planned out from the beginning

Captain America has Spidey on probation from the Avengers right now.

Everybody can see quite clearly that Spider-Man using Robotic-Armies, Armed Mercenaries and big-brother tech is waaaay abnormal.

People see the difference, especially in the dialogue he chooses when talking with the Avengers

Spidey's "Hey guys! Wanna play checkers?" vs NotSpidey's "Why have I been summoned here you bombastic buffoons" has a distinct difference

I'd say Otto's biggest mistake was completely eliminating the Parker-fragment

from his mind, it was the only thing that let him really pass as Peter Parker, and

it was the Parker-memories that saved him from being found out by the Avengers in the first place.

If he was smarter, he would've kept the memories somehow.

It's only a matter of time before Iron Man or whoever decides that Dr Spidey has gone too far, whether they figure out his true identity or not.

Anyone remember "Monster Ock"?

I just remembered this for some reason. This game was awesome.

Peter will be back eventually.

Worse case scenario, Superior lasts a decade. Peter will return. Look at Barry Allen.

I hope not I want Peter. I love Peter. Otto is like US Agent to me(A-Hole version of a great character)

its not like we don't have Kane, Ben, Eddie for our arachnid themed hero need.

bring Peter back put him as full-time with the Avengers with DD, Wolvie, Luke, Ms. Marvel(which we had) and another powerhouse female like Emma

man thats a good lineup their all kind of cool with each other(except Emma) with way different personalities. but Emma ways would rub off Ms.M the wrong way and get cozy with some guy. without a constant Hulk I think they could take on the Avengers and their problems no problem.

I like Otto as a villain, he had a cool power and story

No

Technically, yes, but I wouldn't think so.

if he does.

Dan Slott will have to hide for the rest of his life.

No. As soon as Slott leaves Superior will end. The only character I could stomach becoming the new Spider-man is Kaine but even then i'd prefer him to remain the Scarlet Spider. An arc with him as Spider-man could be cool though a-la Az-Batman.

Posted by Lvenger

Once Slott's had his warped fun writing Superior Spider-Man, Peter will be back. When that will be I cannot say but not even Slott can keep an iconic character like Peter Parker out of his body forever.

Posted by TDK_1997

As soon as Slott leaves the book Superior will end. Also it is possible that he will be the one that is going to end the whole Superior thing but I doubt it.

Posted by Deranged Midget

Could it? Probably not. Peter Parker is the single most iconic character from the Marvel Universe and by extension, easily one of the top three in the world alongside Superman and Batman. I expect to see his return within the next year or so.
