Hold On A Minute....

When Namor was defeated in Avengers vs X-Men 8 the Phoenix Force's power went to the remaining four, but in Uncanny X-Men the PF 5 got their ass's handed to them by Sinister and nothing happened. Shouldn't the force have transfered to the others and ended with making Scott the Phoenix as he was the last to fall?

It's AVX, nothing about it is consistent

It was Wanda that made the phoenix leave Namor by using her "do whatever I like" powers. I don't think beating them down/killing them will make the phoenix leave them as they've already resurrected themselves/survived fatal blows already.

I thought they just had to get beat down so hard that the Phoenix Force ditches them. Maybe it only counts in the main AvX series.

That could be the case, but didn't Magik and Colossus comment on how that must be what happens when they are defeated? If they have already been beaten before that issue, than that seems like a very odd thing to say. I guess we will see if your right in the next issue or so.

This is also pretty true, but that seemed like a BIG inconsistancy.

It's possible that Sinister was somehow having the Madelyne Pryor clones absorb the Phoenix force from each one that was being defeated in order. Instead of Scott gaining the power when they were defeated, each clone got the portion instead.

Possible, these are the moments I miss though bubbles explaining things; these are the moments I miss Claremont.

@Blood1991: Agreed, and after rereading over the issues again, UXM #17 had Sinister confirm that the clones had torn the PF from their host.

The clones were all shown and responsible for each defeat of the P5 in the previous issue. So I think this is what happened and why the other  P5 didn't gain the power boost when they were defeated. Though that's not to say the AvX wasn't shady, there were several screw ups if I recall, especially the one where it had Storm hesitate and have T'Challa defeat her.

Truth. Though your explanation makes the most sense.
