when was the last time the people praising Spider-Man 2? I watched it for first time in about 8 years last week and it has not aged well. Also what's with the close up of a random woman screaming every 5 minutes?

The movie's corny but it has a clear story to tell with refined characters. That outweights any stylistic choices Sam Raimi did. Also, the movie is basically a homage to those first Spidey comics.

The arc of Peter slowly losing his powers trying to figure out the balance between personal life and hero life is illustrated so well I'd say this should be used as a text book example.

The cgi is outdated but the way they use it (Doc Ock's shades when Spidey's swinging towards him) and the final swing at the end is just pure genious and exhilirating.

EDIT. I can't believe The Amazing Spider-Man got more votes than Spider-Man. TASM was so boring and everything it did contrast to the original was a downgrade minus the cgi.

People talking about nostalgia winning over quality lose the second you compare the animation styles between the two shows.

TAS was atmospheric, had good character design and color scheme. Spectacular, while it had great stories had plastic looking animation with bland colors. And bare in mind TAS reused animation like crazy and cut it's animation and the show still looks great even with the wonky cgi in place.

As for stories, we got Spider Slayers, we got the Venom Saga, the Neogenic Nightmare arc and freaking Secret Wars.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series introduced me to superhero comics for life. Heck, the show introduced me to superheroes for life.

Despite reusing animation like crazy, the animation is still best out of the bunch not to mention the art style is both realistic and faithful to the source material. The Venom Saga was amazing! The Neogenic Nightmare arc was stellar. We saw so many guest star heroes in Secret Wars alone (a brilliant way to end an epic series)!

Christopher Daniel Barnes is the voice of Peter Parker for me. Edward Asner is the essential voice of J. Jonah Jameson! Jennifer Hale (voice of female Shepard in the Mass Effect series) played Felicia Hardy.

I appreciate Year One for what it is but The Dark Knight Returns was just incredible.
