Detective

I feel that the first ac of Detective Comics in the New 52 was treated unfairly. Everyone was slamming the lame villain which I do admit Dollmaker was pretty lackluster despite the concept of him being really creepy. I also did not help that each issue ended with a big "shocking" cliff hanger either. The positive I see in that arc is Tony Daniels is trying to establish his version of Gotham after Snyder came in with the Black Mirror which I can appreciate. Trying to follow up Snyder's run is a tall order and whoever takes it upon themselves to so has their work cut out for themselves. Hopefully this new arc with the Penguin puts the book in the right direction that it should have started off with.

You have to admit though... sandwiched between Batman and Robin, Synder Batman and The Dark Knight... this is really the weaker of the Bat books. And i mean... it's Detective comics... they really could have stepped this up.

I just finished the fifth issue and I was sorely disappointed. Detective is on the chopping block of my pull list. I am giving it one more issue before I drop the series. If i do I might replace it with Batman and Robin or just switch in Fatal so my list does not get overly big.

Oh wow... Batman and Robin is amazing this run!! You really should switch over.

I'm going to pick up Detective again if they change writers or if I see it starts to pick up again. I was so disappointed by #5 I swear I wanted to get a refund.

It pissed me off when i read it last night. the only redeeming thing in it was the art of the back up. Why would they put a back up in a book that only gets 20 pages unless they would explicitly say it would be oversized?

i understand that tony is a newer writer and following after snyder's work is definitely a tall order, but he was given the job because he waas good enough. ive read a few issues and jsut bought issue 9 for the crossover that ironically was snyder's idea, and i actually felt that all the work that snyder has been putting into the court of owls was underminded alittle. the last page pissed me off so much and after reading reviews of the rest of the series, i feel no guilt in saying that daniels needs to find a new title to work on

I will pick it up again whenever Daniels is off. His art is fine with me but after issue 5 I am done with anything written by him.
