Great Idea on your list. Man of Steel is currently one of my favorite movies alongside The Dark Knight trilogy and the Avengers movie. As a matter of fact all the movies you've listed are some of my favorite superhero films to date.
Great list, the only thing that surprises me is Batman 89. Never would expect it in the midst of all the bad superhero movies, figured it would be before them.
@batmannflash: I'm wasn't a huge fan of the Burton movies anyway, but seeing you are a bigger batman fan than I am I figured you would like it a lot more, seeing most Batman fans praise it. Glad to see some diversity. But anyway nice list. I love how once you put Superman Returns its all the bad superhero movies.
@ninjablade09: I don't know, I just was bored throughout the movie and felt no attachment to Keaton's Batman and Nicholson's Joker. No interesting characters outside of those two (besides maybe Alfred). I know this is different from most people's opinions but the movie didn't do it for me.
@batmannflash: That's how I felt when I watched it, but I have to watching again because I had just finished watching Dark Knight for the first time when I watched it. The thing it I have a hard time sitting through the Burton Batman movies cause I just have no connection to the characters. Each time I see Returns I'm not invested in the story, and I was really into the story of Pacific Rim which was as basic as it gets.
@batmannflash: Definitely. I think the scene between Alfred and Bruce right after Rachael's death has to be my favorite emotional scene in the trilogy. Just the mood and the atmosphere was perfect. It's one of my favorite scenes of all time.
@batmannflash: I have to agree. The scene you mentioned with them in the elevator was great. I think that was great acting right there from Bale, just the looks on his face were perfect, weren't over the top, or not enough, he showed the right amount of emotion.
@ninjablade09: yeah I hate it when people really didn't like Bale as Batman. Guy's an amazing actor who could pull off many roles and was a great Batman despite the voice. As Bruce Wayne, he had the playboy persona among the public and the emotion when with Alfred. As Batman, he had the rage and the display of pain behind it. Heck, I always thought Bale could of been a great Joker.
@batmannflash: Ya it angers me too, because most people complain about the voice, which in the real world would make sense for someone like Bruce, or the stuff that he cant control, like Batman's fighting style or how much of a detective is. I'd have to see him as Joker to believe it, but only because I thought Heath wouldn't be a good Joker and hell I was wrong.
Frankly, I'd take Batman Begins over The Dark Knight. IMO, everything about Batman Begins besides the villain was better than TDK. Batman Begins had better fighting scenes, a more competent Batman, Batman was the main character, Batman's iconic use of fear was shown perfectly, and the message of overcoming fear was moving.
@ninjablade09: yeah you're correct. YAH Heath Ledger surprised us all!
Well have you seen Christian Bale in American Psycho? He plays a sociopath. His role isn't too similar to the Joker but there's some glimpses of the Joker in there.
@wolverine08: Batman Begins was really good. Although I would have to disagree that Batman was the main character. Begins showed tons of Bruce Wayne and didn't have much Batman. TDK was a purely Batman and Joker movie with not much Bruce Wayne. And I thought the action scenes in TDK were awesome and better than BB's (fight at the dance club, kidnapping Lau, vs SWAT, vs Scarecrow). And TDK showed more detective work
@batmannflash: Huh, maybe. You know its weird seeing Christian bale without his huge arms. I remember hearing Nolan told him to lose some muscle for Begins.
@ninjablade09: have you seen The Machinist or The Fighter? He lost 60 pounds for those roles. He has played both the skinny guy and muscular guy, which is amazing.
I'm going to have to disagree with you there. TDK had Lucius Fox doing all the detective work. Even though Batman in Batman Begins wasn't Batman from the comics, he still did some detective work. Also I think Batman had better fight scenes. Like Batman's first appearance which he concluded with a badass "I'm Batman" line, Batman vs Ra's Al Ghul's ninjas at the end of the movie, etc. The Dark Knight is still very good, but I think Batman Begins is overall the better film, and criminally underrated by most people.
@wolverine08: okay I respect your opinion. But when did Batman do detective work Batman Begins? As I recall, in the Dark Knight, it was Batman who found out Joker's next victims and did the bullet stuff. I don't remember Fox helping him on his investigations
@batmannflash: I've seen some of the Fighter. But Ya Christian Bale is an amazing actor. I know people give him flack for the Terminator thing but at least he apologized. He also puts him self through hell. It's not easy to gain muscle, then lose it, regain it, lose, then gain it again. He has also done some really nice things, like taking the little boy ,who had some kinda illness I don't remember what it was, and his family to Disney Land, cause he could.
@ninjablade09: yeah Bale has done just incredibly nice things like visiting those involved in the Colorado TDKR shootings and visiting multiple funerals. And like you said, Disney Land with the kid. Bale's an extreme and intense person who is so dedicated in his work. It's understandable that he would get angry when something he puts his whole life into gets messed up. Also, while acting, I would think some of your emotions can transfer into the real world because you're still in character.
@batmannflash: Agreed. But anyway it's 12:00 A.M where I am so, I should get some sleep. It was nice discussing things, I always like just being able to talk with someone over a common interest without arguing. Goodnight, see you on the flipside.
@batmannflash: Ya. East Coat fun. You on the West Coast? But ya like most sites I guess, 1 half is crazy the other is nice and civil. Unless you're on ComicBookMovie those guys are always arguing lol.
@batmannflash: It's quite nice. Nice and warm in the Summer, cool in the spring and fall, and cold in winter. The only bad thing really is like the last week of October the last two years we have had these random snow storms. Last year we barely got any snow. And lately it's been really humid. A lot of smaller towns. But I love going to New York City. How is it in Cali?
Doesn't surprise me. I tried watching it becuase I thought it couldn't be nearly as bad as people said. And they where wrong. It's even worse! I couldn't watch ten minutes before I started to go into shock. And the ice puns! Gah, they where unbareable!
